Chills. Such a good job covering such a GREAT song.
I saw Rush four times and they killed it every time and Primus is the only band that can cover Rush songs and kick ass!
The solo part was a bit painful
Now that is a tribute. Well done.
Great. The vocals are bad karaoke for this song, but the musicality is pretty darn good.
Saw Primus on this tour 3 times. Great shows. I really liked how Primus went for that late 70s Rush tone. I always liked seeing Rush in concert but I admit their guitar tone in the late 70s/early 80s was by far superior to the sound of later tours IMHO.
Incredible performance! I was considering doing this for solo and ensemble at my school and i think you got me hooked!
Woah 😩 7:50
I felt the bass was sound mixed wrong.other wise great
I love Primus, but Cygnus X1 is my all time favorite song by RUSH. It's hard for me to appreciate this version. Instrumental wise it's cool, but it's impossible to touch Geddy's vocal range back when he was young. For what it's worth, even Geddy had to change the key of the song to sing it live in his later years.
Love the double neck guitar and bass, nice touch
The Professor would be Proud ✊
New singer time absolutely horrible
Very good cover. Tempo is a bit too slow. Pull up a video of the R40 tour and see the masters do it.
They were an opening act for Rush long ago, and many Rush fans were appalled at the freak show that Alex Geddy and Neil (I think it was Alex who first was a Primus fan) fully embraced. Primus being on tour with arguably the most similar as well as completely dissimilar act in the world as themselves was indeed an awe inspiring experience. Now ages later they don’t try to do a Primus spin on the most important Rush masterpieces, they actually do a very well executed recreation as a not-Rush tribute band tribute! They came thru my town doing this production and I was a complete dumbshit for not making the effort to go!
almost a Jacobs Ladder type feel at 4:45 in.
Isn't Cygnus x-1 the first black hole discovered ( but no one knew what a black hole was then ) ?
Damn this version sucked lol But hey, they love Rush!
JAN 18th 1992 .... Las Cruces NM. The first time PRIMUS opened for RUSH on the Roll The Bones tour. ;)
I think Ler's guitar tone was the true hero that day.
Les is my neighbor, been seeing Primus since the 80s
Oh also; this rendition is GREAT! ✨👏🏼😎✨
Everyone should know Geddy & Les are great friends! 👋🏼😎
Very Nice And it kicks ass too!
The fact that tim can keep up with neils drum part really shows how underrated tim is.
Tim should be Rush's new drummer.
@@Olysterz I'm too much of a Neil purist to want ANYONE to do it- but if it was anyone it would definetely be Tim or maybe Danny Carey
welcome to the comment section 33% of us are talking about how primus did a very faithful cover of this song 33% are talking about how Rush did it better 16.5% are talking about how les didnt even hit the right notes 16.5% are laughing at the people who think les should have hit those notes truly a wonderful place
U guys played it all Primus and Rush
Love u bro 😚
Miky can l play .

Saw this last year. It was my first Covid show.. It was the most needed show I have ever seen.. And it rocked!
This is my favorite RUSH tune, and Primus did an outstanding rendition of it. I'm sure the guys of RUSH, including the Professor, would be pleased. Les didn't try to copy Geddy's vocals, it would almost be impossible, but he sang in his own register, and threw in a few Geddy highlights here & there. Well done! I hope they decide to tour this tribute again, I didn't get to go the last time due to previous plans, and I'm regretting now.
Yeah I remember that too
As a rabid Rush fan you did this song justice bravo!!
This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I also want to weep because I really miss Neil.
Gotta give them credit. They chose in my opinion perhaps the greatest live song ever!
Expecting Les's vocals to sound like vintage 1970's Geddy Lee is pretty hilarious...But let's go ahead and expect Les to sound evn remotely like Geddy at all. Their voices aren't even remotely similar. But all the experts commenting here could do so much better I'm sure... Hat's off to Primus. Amazing tribute to an amazing band....Being covered by another amazing band. Think Neil woulda enjoyed it for sure no doubt..Pretty sure he wouldn't have criticized it as much as all these world renowned musicians have here in the comments section...
With Farewe to Kings and Hemispheres Rush were on a completely different level. Entering the 80s is where things became really interesting. No, disrespect to early Rush especially Caress the Steel and Fly by Night.
2nd best trio ever.
i remember when geddy picked up a guitar and joined Primus on stage and played Tommy the Cat and Winonna,That was a while go said Tommy the Cat
Alas, no tour in Europe 😭
I'm going to see them in Las Vegas tonight!
Well done!
Very Impressive. I've seen Rush do this song 4 times, and this is really good....The vocals , well no one sounds Like Geddy. But the musically is spot on. Did they do Red Barchetta or 2112?
That guy with the camera needs to learn some respect for others.
Really great tribute. I really enjoyed this.
Les spent to much of this song with his back at his audience.👎
I remember Xanadu mostly for that cheesy 1980 Olivia Newton John / ELO collaboration of the same name. I saw Rush perform Xanadu at the Pacific Colisium in 1981.
Noble effort . The vocals on some of the other Rush tunes really don’t work
For I have eaten honey dew and tasted the milk of paradise. Outstanding.
excelente versión y tributo 👏👏👏
