I have a problem I hope you can help with 2000 f250 7.3 diesel.zf6. Problem is my cab harness got smoked out if ignorance and desperation I bought a harness out of a 2000 f250 4,x4 automatic truck of Facebook market place and it doesn't work and I don't think I'm getting my money back. Is there a way to repin something or a way to make it work any help would be appreciated.
Hi I just bought a 1998 Kawasaki STX 1100 a few weeks ago the previous owner did an oil pump delete and damage the third cylinder the engine is now rebuilt and I'm about to put it back in the jet ski I will now be premixing the oil I was just wondering if you might know if the bottom case gets its own oil I read online somewhere that it doesn't and just gets lubrication from premixed fuel hope someone can clarify this for me thank you
@IlirGashi-wg8kf 2 stroke engines don't have oil in the crank case. They lube from the oil in the gas. So what u read is correct.
Why buy the joint? Just put a big bolt and washers through the pedal and through the cluch piston loop. Much easier and cheaper.
The joint is cheap and a better fix.
@elmaschinon2699 I ground out the pin as you did. Ported the hole slightly larger to fit a grade 8 bolt the same size as the hole on the clutch rod. Put a washer on, then push it through the hole of the pedal arm. Then, 2 washers, then push it through the clutch rod, then another washer and a locking nut. 0% chance it will ever brake or come loose. Plus, the bolt is thicker and stronger than the thin hex bolt. Bolts and washers were $5.
@WhiteYetiAK that sounds good.
@@elmaschinon2699 Nothing against it, just asking for curiosity.
@WhiteYetiAK Hey man. Only thing that matters is u found a fix for ur problem.
Hey mine has been sitting for a while and when I looked inside there was oil all in the bottom coming from the oil pump and the fuel lines. do u think doing this would be the fix?
Well you should probably get the excess oil out and yes doing this should get rid of that problem.
@@elmaschinon2699 thanks
If you hit that key out, what keeps the water from entering into the stator? From the two water lines attached to cool the oil?
That part is sealed off from the water. Mine have been running great for years.
0:16 How hard was it to remove the pedal assembly?
It's actually pretty easy. Took me like 10 minutes.
So leaving the auto column and dash alone I have a entire zf6 truck does the transmission tunnel have to be put in or can the hole be cut and go
The zf6 is taller. U have to put in the one from a manual tunnel or stretch the sheet metal for it to clear and not hit the bottom of the cab.
What’s the red thing called? Be nice to me I’m a girl ! 😂😂
It's just a crank case vent filter
Let’s hope you’ve gotten more experience in 7 years since this video. Sad to watch
Hahaha! I'll race you.
What's the verdict does it leak oil the way you did it through that little breather? Or do you need to add a catch can?
I ended up putting a vent line down the frame that comes out by the transfer case.
Do you have to cut the tunnel
Yes. The auto trans tunnel is to low.
Nice Job, I have a f350 4x4 2000 7.3 with automatic transmission, if I want to do the zf6 conversion, any idea how much I have to spend on parts?
Thank you. Cost just depends on where u live. I'm in California. I spent 22hundred on the trans and parts. Plus all the work.
@@elmaschinon2699 Im in San Diego Can you get the parts and do the job?
Parts you would have to get. I can help u do the job.
Did you make the tunnel or where did you get it from
I cut it out from another truck that was a manual from the factory. But some people do make them or just use a jack and a 2x4 to stretch the metal to make it fit the ZF6
@@elmaschinon2699 thanks i am doing the same thang you but in a 2009 6.4 truck
So the zf6 will bolt up out of a 6.0 straight to a 7.3?
No. The 6.0 bolt pattern is different.
Awesome work. Quick question, I noticed you don't have the auto shift lever as you mentioned. What did you do to make it start since it's now a manual? Did you have to cut and bypass some wires or what did you do to the lever? I've done this swap but can't seem to get the key to crank the truck. The truck will turn as I turned it on with the starter to hear it and it runs fine but the key doesn't crank the truck. Thanks
Look on my other video man. I show how to make it work. On the wire harness by the brake master cylinder there's a plug u need to connect 2 wires together to make the truck think its in neutral.
@@elmaschinon2699 👍
Did you have to change all the wiring in the dash
No. Just the trans harness.
So I’m doing a 5r100 to zf6 swap can I use my auto pcm?
I think so. But it's not gonna run right. Auto and manual pcms are programed differently .
How much do you charge to do this?
I usually do it just for friends. It would depend on the cost of parts
@@elmaschinon2699 what state are you in
I live in northern Comifornia
@@elmaschinon2699 I have a crazy build that I want to make
That sounds cool wut is it?
Hey brother awesome job! Where are you located? How much would you charge to do this? I have an 03 f250 with the 5.4 auto want to do manual swap like this
Thank you. I'm in northern California
I wish you were in Texas I would totally pay you to do this! On my truck!
I wish I was in Texas as well. 😅
Iv done the block off plate and Iv blocked off the 3 ports at the bottom but do I block off the single port at the top near accelerator cable? Or continue to run from the tee piece in the fuel line before the fuel filter??
When I did my jetskis I just plugged the 3 ports on the carbs and took the key way out of the oil pump. Has worked fine since then. Also zip tied the float sensor on the oil tank so it always shows full.
@elmaschinon mines a 98 modal zxi and it doesn't have your normal float in the oil. Has a straight pipe with wires going down? Can I just ru the jetski without it plugged in ???
Yea u can run it like that. Just ur oil level light will be on all the time.
If you want to do it correctly look up Parker Ray core in CCV4500 and then it runs your old oil back through the bottom of the can through a check valve and into your motor just above your oil pan. Either do it right or leave it the fuck alone !
Or u can just scroll past my video and not comment. It's my dam truck. I'll light it on fire if I want to!
That is so funny what a Mickey mouse set up total shade tree Mechanic not knowing what the hell are you still doing it
If I gave a fuck for every comment like yours I would have no fucks to give. 🤣
@elmaschinon2699 I like your style don't take shit off nobody😈👹
@@LAPARKA316 this 5 dollar set up is just a sloppy joke, oil will be sliming not only the back of his engine, bell housing transmission and blow all the way back to the rear pumpkin then as it sits it’ll dribble all over someone’s parking lot driveway or the ground. Of course it needs a quality catch can like a Parker If he’s not determined not to get any oil to blow through is turbo
The oil injecting unit that is factory , does it inject oil after carbs ?
It injects at the carbs.
That's the way I did my 1995 Dodge 4x4 that had a automatic. I went to a g56 and a later model floor shifter for the 4x4 . Cut out with a Metabo and I wire welded the floor in place . Seam sealer, primer and under coat . I appreciate the way you did the job. I wanted to make sure I used the lower boot for the g56 so I would not get moisture on the cab . Nice job by the way
Thank you. Sounds like u did a nice build as well.
I'm getting oil build up in my vally too. it leaks down by the starter and transmission. so dleteing this will fix the issue?
Well it depends where the oil is coming from. If it's leaking from the turbo pedestal, this will fix it. But sometimes they leek at the fittings at the High pressure oil pump.
@@elmaschinon2699 how much would it cost for a ford dealer to fix this
@@wheatsuperduty3773 Honestly I'm not sure. But I don't think they would do the delete. They would just fix it the oem way.
@@elmaschinon2699 I'm honestly ok with that. It's going in this week because of a transmission fluid leak. Just got a new tranny from them and u think the front seal gave up. I'll ask them to look at it
@@wheatsuperduty3773 It'd be hard to tell without actually looking at the truck. But I have had a few trans that have gotten hot and start leaking from the front seal.
I bought the aluminum block off plate with two new screws. And yes my starter spring flew out. Landed on the fly wheel magnet lol. Waited for the new o ring seal to come from Florida, it came and the o ring wouldn't stay in place on my 2000 stx di 1100. So I got me some painters tape out some aluminum colored RTV gasket maker. And I took a pic and put a little bit of silicone down in the stator housing seal groove. Reinstalled the o-ring with painter's tape behind it. Left it. Go for 24 hours and Shazam it was ready to install without issues of the ring falling out.
How to you attach the wires from a manual to an automatic transmission?
If you're converting from manual to auto you have to get the harness for an auto because the auto trans requires a lot more wires.
Does it have to be the same year to swap? Cann an 02 be converted with a 99 donor truck?
I just got done doing an 03 lariat with a 99 xlt. From 98 to 03 they usually all interchange. What matters most is if it has electronic transfer case and power adjustable pedals. The ZF5 and ZF6 will bolt up to any 7.3 powerstroke.
I have a gap on the passenger side when I put the manual tunnel over the auto to trace. What do you recommend doing to fill that gap?
I have ran into the same problem before. You can just hammer the sheat metal to stretch and fit or you can cut back enough to get you the room you need and add a piece of sheet metal to cover the gap.
Will the 99 ecm with analog odometer work on the 02 truck with digital odometer
It should. One of the ones I swapped has a pcm from a e99 and the truck is an 03
Your the man
What did you use to block off the holes on carb? I'm not trying to order the kit.
I used fuel line and melted the ends but u can buy rubber plugs.
Onsted of cutting up your cab. Simply add 1 or 2 inch body spacers.
Body spacers just add problems and squeaks.
Dont forget to change out the computer control module box. You have to change out the one from the automatic. With the one from the truck that had the standard trans. Jumping the pin dose not do what you need for the cpu and you wont have shift idel addvace and it mess other cpu things. Just change the one from the other. It the box on the finder next to the air filter.
Yes u need to swap the PCM. I say that on one of my videos. Otherwise it won't run right.
How do you remove the black safety switch? Also how do you remove the rod itself from the truck
The safety switch has a white flat plastic piece that u slide off then u can pull back and away to remove. The rod has a c clip u can remove to pop it out without damaging it.
@@elmaschinon2699 you’re the man. Thank you so much.
@@elmaschinon2699 last thing I’m going to bother you with. I got everything disassembled, repaired, and reassembled. The pushrod that goes from the pedal to the master cylinder, I cannot get it to snap back into place. If you’d like text me at 434-382-9556 and I can send you my 1 min video of the problem and see if you have any input. I’m at a loss man
Hey do you have an email or phone number i can reach you at?? I have some questions
Hey man do you remember the size of the hardware ?
I don't but if u just search clutch pedal fix it should show up
Did you need to swap the driveshaft as well?
Stock drive shafts for a 4x4 work fine. As long as it's for the same wheel base of your truck if it would have came as a 4x4.
prob easier to just replace the ebpv sensor and tube for about 65 bucks for both every 100k miles. No risk of codes or issues and owners will usually go from 15-16 mpg to 19-20 after clogged tube and sensor are replaced
Did ya have to do anything with the harness for transmission ?
Yes. You have to replace the auto harness with the one for a manual trans. And then do the jump wire like I showed in the video.
@@elmaschinon2699 pretty much plug and play?
@@codybrett7935 yea pretty much. The manual harness has way less plugs

What's the name of that part
Its a heim joint.
Where did you order that from I can't find it in my local area Auto Parts
I just ordered it on ebay
For the love of god 2002 7.3 CCV mod has been on my truck since 2010 no problems. I have been working on 7.3 for over 20 years do this to all who ask about them never had a problem with any of those trucks
Always nice to have comments from people who actually know a thing or two.
BRAVO. MAESTRO. GRACIAS. POR. ENSEÑARME
Thank you for posting this video. I have been thinking to convert my 7.3 to 6-speed when my transmission goes and this is incredibly helpful to see what is all involved. Does the cruise control work normally after you put in the jumper in that plug?
Honestly I'm not sure about the cruise control. Most of the trucks I've converted didn't have cruise control. And the only one that did have it, it didn't work since before the swap.

Are you still driving this truck? Curious if your trans has held up being out of a I’m assuming higher mileage parts truck. I have been looking for a 6 speed trans for a while now and there aren’t very many used ones here in northern ca. Debating buying a reman one or just building the auto. Thanks
I drive it all the time. A bit less since I bought my dually. I tow with it as well. Still shifts perfectly and still has the same clutch I put in it when I did the swap. I'm glad I did the swap or I mite be on my forth 4r100. I fried 2 before the swap.
@@elmaschinon2699 well that’s good to know. I’ve heard people having shifting issues with them or the pilot bearing going out and wiping out the input shaft but I think they are still a good trans. Excellent, Did you source most of your parts from a wrecker? Do you much about if you were to convert a Cummins them put a manual in?
Thanks. I got all my parts from a wrecked truck that was a factory zf6. I do know a bit about Cummins. They're not hard to swap over to a manual if it's a 5.9 12 valve. On those u can get an adapter plate for the back of the engine to fit almost any trans u want. I got 2 Cummins, one with the OE 5 speed trans and one with a 6 speed Eaton. And both mount the same to the 5.9 block.
