    Watching this from New Delhi (India). First I was confused to understand 3rd and 4th scenario. But after reading explanation, now it is clear. thank you. In India in science school curricular this topic is not taught. This question appears in SOF Olympiad of Grade 6. So to understand concept of ticker tape, I reached up to this video.

    • @ExpSci
      @ExpSci 4 месяца назад

      There is no conceptual error in my video. The 3rd and 4th cases are deliberately included to highlight a common conceptual error of students and teach them how to analyse such questions. The misunderstanding is on the student's part. If they take time to read my explanations in the comments, they will understand it. The responsibility to learn and clarify any doubts rests on the students. I am most happy to explain to anyone who leaves a query in the comments section. My RUclips analytics show that this video has been uploaded to several educational institutions' websites. I also know of teachers who have shown this in class. This video is valued by educators in different countries as a useful teaching resource. The many comments left by students also show that they have appreciated my explanations. I will not deprive many students of learning simply because a few do not make the effort to clarify their own misunderstanding.

    I thought the second scenario shows the accelerating of the car since the spaces between the dots are getting further apart over time. The fourth shows the deceleration due to the decreasing of spaces.

    • @ExpSci
      @ExpSci Год назад

      Thanks for your feedback :) Are you referring to Scenario 3 and 4 from 2:46 onward? (the 2nd scenario is constant motion since the dots are evenly spaced). For Scenarios 3 and 4, the cars are moving in opposite directions, so the Ticker Tape readings are also read in opposite directions, starting with the 1st dot immediately behind each car. For Scenario 3, the dots are read from right to left, so the spacing decreases and the car is decelerating. For Scenario 4, the dots are read from left to right, so the spacing increases and the car is accelerating. Please see my explanation in the pinned comment for more details. Thanks :)

    • @ExpSci
      @ExpSci Год назад

      Water is a compound, because it is made up of Oxygen and Hydrogen atoms which are chemically combined in a fixed proportion (1 Oxygen to 2 hydrogen atoms). Mixtures can be separated using physical means (eg a salt solution can be separated into salt and water using distillation), but compounds can only be separated using chemical methods. In this experiment, an electric current is used to separate water into its component elements :)

    A number of people have feedback about the explanation for the 3rd and 4th scenario from 2:46 onwards. As I am unable to modify a video that has already been published, I am providing an explanation below: To interpret the ticker tape markings correctly, we must first identify the direction that the car is moving. The first dot is the one immediately behind the car, and the last dot is the one furthest from the car. In the 3rd scenario, the 1st dot made is the one nearest the car, then the car pulls the paper through the ticker tape machine, so we read the dots from right to left due to the direction that the car is moving. Since the distance between 1st & 2nd dot is large, the car was moving faster at the start. The last 2 dots are on the left of the tape and the distance between the dots is less, so the car moved slower and pulled the paper through more slowly. Thus, for Case 3, the car started out fast but ended up slow, so it's decelerating. For the 4th scenario, since the car is moving from right to left, we read the markings from left to right instead (as we imagine that the paper is being pulled through the machine towards the left now). The 1st dot is immediately behind the car on the left, and the distance between 1st 2 dots is small. The last 2 dots are on the right of the tape and the distance between them is large, so car started off slow but end up fast. Therefore, it is accelerating. I hope that this explanation helps to clarify :)

  • @edgardoesteba1069
    @edgardoesteba1069 3 года назад

    At time frame 5:46, the 3rd scenario has a car moving to the right and the ticket tape have markings of increasing distance, therefore it shows an accelerated motion. The 4th ticker tape is showing the decelerating motion of the car to the left. I think you just interchanged the description for these last 2 diagrams.

    • @ExpSci
      @ExpSci 3 года назад

      Thank you for your feedback :) I believe that you are referring to the diagram at 2:46. I should have indicated the position of the needle which made the markings on the diagram for greater clarity (The needle is shown around 1:08 of the video).
