December 29th is one of the greatest days in history I'm very happy to see this video was done on that day
Ah, 1970's "Ooh that Smell" had to be there! What a 🎉 Party 🥳 Lude's, Booze, Blow & 🙃 Smoke! Good Ole Daze!
No Doubt, Ronnie was the Boss! The Leader of the Group. As long as there's a "Van Zant" Fronting 🎤 The Band. There will always be a "Lynyrd Skynyrd"
I was wondering where that was thanks
I’m getting ready to leave to go work south of Atlanta for a few months: and I def plan on passing here at some point
Absolutely a guitar legend
Dude walking on holy ground.
Ronald Wayne
man you did a fine job on this video,....dave in NC
I know, I been there before
The greatest rock band ever ❤
God bless all the families and we love you all and this was long coming
I had the pleasure of seeing this memorial recently. Wish i could've been there for the unveiling.
❤its a stage i am pretty sure a lot of us have been through, now imagine good ole boys alcohol some loose women a pocket full of money and the fame of being one of the greatest bands to come out of the 1970s chitt happens unfortunately a lot of us didn't make it ❤i salute our fallen friends from traject accidents, and i prey every night i am not one of these that made the wrong decision and drank to much got behind the wheel and accidentally killed my friends i couldn't live with myself, life hits hard as a teenager and a young man in there 20s,i prey for all of us it sometimes to easy to drive intoxicated enjoying everything thats goin on and forgetting the responsibility of being i friend nobody wants to here that oh come on man it won't happen to us sometimes you have to be the party pooper cause a bunch of intoxicated young people are not thinking about things that can happen ❤um glad most of us made it 59 years young and still missing my 70s and 80s world is a toxic place now folks are just different man.peace ❤prayers for all our fallen friends who didn't make it to senior age.rip
I miss him so much ❤
Stupid tree jumped right out in front of him!! What was it thinking?!?🤣❤️
I was just looking thru my alums ,seen this one and thought are these great people, musical gifted , and great people are gone, it's a sad thing , but knowing, they did their time here, and now Free birds are soaring through the galaxy s with the love of the Lord.
Not even unpacked and bombarded with questions, not much of an interviewer you!
You can get in contact with Gene Odom, he can give you the band tour.
Ricky Medlocke was close to Allen and currently serves in his place in the current incarnation of Skynard.
This is the store associated with the song. It was called Jimmy’s. I went there daily for candy. The Van Zant house is steps away.
What a lovely guy.
Whisky bottles and brand new cars Oak tree your in my way......... One day, I was riding my bicycle and I saw my Mom in the front yard, and next thing I know is that I crashed into the back of our parked car, and I landed on the trunk !!! I cussed and told my Mom that the damn car was in my way!
There were 2 lines in the street on the album cover photo, that was probably a crosswalk that aren't there anymore.
Why is it all 240p?
The only thing the same is the brick wall you had your hand against.... It's also interesting to note that Gary threw up on the sidewalk right after this picture was taken!
Way Koool
I can just amagine what like was like at the Vanzandt home when Ronnie and his younger brothers Donnie and Johnny were growing up,im sure he was thier idol, bet they got in to alot of scraps with other local kids lol.
I love skynard. Great mesmerizing live shows. I met them at a bar on Fort Lauderdale Beach where I was playing in The Ross Emery Band. Post plane crash ,78,79,ish. They were real nice to me. They were Rossington Collins Band by this time. It bums me out to know some of them chose alcohol and violence and we're injured badly. The airplane rental was a bad call. It's a damned shame.
I am in a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band "Almost Skynard" the formation of our band came from the love of their music and as a result we perform every song with heart-felt feeling. People tell us, we remind them of the old Lynyrd Skynyrd. I guess that's because we are close to the age of the original members. This is a fantastic video and thanks for publishing it.
Thanks 😊 Paul I so enjoyed your interview
Awesome truck 👍😎❤️
Ed King said after a few of the photos were taken Gary Rossington got up, walked over to the street and threw up in the gutter.
Doing sound for LS and esp RVZ was no easy task...to sound like the record you baught in a hockey arena is a large undertaking....not many bands do...volume hiss buzz etc....thanx paul roadie stv NY PA shows
The plane also hit an Oak tree when it crashed.
Badass🎸🎸🎸<[]>RIP Prince Charming Rossington✌😎☮
Awesome Boys🎸🎸🎸<[]>Less is more with the horns & piano. Guitars Rule👍🏾😎☮
Hey<[]>It'd be nice if you give a location👍🏾😎🤳
My hometown , I was born and raised about 1.5 miles from here. The store used to be Wayne's 5 and 10 , and during the era Skynyrd took this photo Jonesboro was the filming location for Smokey and the Bandit. The Flint River near here off 42 highway had a huge population of snapping turtles , so much so that they were poached in the 70s to make Campbell's turtle soup. The Civil War battle for this town caused the fall of all of GA , General Sherman cut the rail lines to your right which cut off supplies to all the Reb soldiers in Atlanta. About ten blocks down was " Fuzzy's A & W Mart " , he was a badass Nam Vet lol and he used to sell overpriced alcohol to us high school kids. I made the mistake of attempting to steal a pack of cigarettes from him once. I was drunk , so was he but I always regret that and he had a 12 GA Ithaca shotgun back there that he assured me would be used if I ever did something like that again. I learned a dumbass teenager lesson that day , and especially how fucking badass and cool , especially , a black man, who served in combat in Vietnam is. He knew too I was a dumb drunk kid and he scared me good and I deserved it. He had oldschool CCTV and was just back there watching. It was still basically segregated last I was there in 2000 or so. Right across the tracks to the right , is White lines street and the poor folk live there. It's poignant Lynyrd Skynyrd took there iconic photos here , there is no better representation of small town America in the south than Jonesboro GA.
Ronnie was.a role model to me.even though he made mistakesshe wrote songs about the dangers of drinking and drugs which kept me on the straight and narrow
I think this was the real reason RUclips was invented thank you brother
I said God bless Paul he didn't even get settled in his hotel room and they took him off to McComb Mississippi to do an interview??? I mean you couldn't have gone to his hotel and did it there ??? God bless Paul!!! God bless Lynyrd Skynyrd and Ronnie Van Zant
As I said above he was approached outside of his hotel. He was in McComb when this interview was conducted.
