    how in the hell can win in 2 or 3 turn?

    • @GAChessClub
      @GAChessClub 7 дней назад

      T2 kills are uncommon, but totally possible. One of the main ways it’s possible is when you go first as fire Lorraine aggro: T1: materialize spirit, play creative shock discarding a fire card T2: level into Lorraine, materialize sword of adversity. During your recollection, play Hone by Fire targeting sword. Recollect and draw, then play rending flames, attack w/ sword and banish the 3 fire cards to double your dmg from 7 to 14. You have 2 cards left in hand, so you can now play blazing throw, sacrificing the sword to do another 4 dmg. Generally, T2 kills are stopped by any amount of interaction from the opponent, but it’s good to know they’re possible. T3 kills are much more likely, and can easily be done by any competitive aggro list through minimal interaction from the opponent. Lines include wind allies flooding the board, automatons getting a big swing w/ power cells and then waking the dude back up with second wind to hit again, or Fire Zander with poisoned dagger. Some combo decks can also get aggressive kills if they high roll, like rhapsody if they open with all the right pieces and have multiple +1s, or slimes if their opponent doesn’t level up (t3 dg + ethereal + storm slime is 14 dmg on its own)

    video is great, but im not sure if "dishonest and honest" as basis for the X axis might be a better fit considering its long term use in similar gaming contexts (i think it comes from fighting games? not sure) "unfair and fair" suggests they might not be balanced or something of that sort

    • @GAChessClub

      "It's difficult to really find a suitable replacement that still contextually has the same meaning; 'dishonest and honest' may also read in a stigmatized way, and may also be misconstrued, as the player isn't being dishonest as much as not creating substantial room for interaction. That being said, I'm happy to see another fighting game enthusiast in this community! I'm a huge fan of Tekken and Guilty Gear! • @CCRexKanin
      @CCRexKanin 13 дней назад

      Thank you! Some of it is a carry-over from Chapin's logic on this type of game theory in MTG It just has to do with the fairness in how information is presented. A deck that gives you more of a window to interact with an object on board is more fair than something that either has a short interaction window or is generally harder to interact with I'm personally a bigger fan of more unfair decks at large, usually playing into more combo or control heavy styles I hope the video itself was useful; thank you for watching!

    You guys should go more in depth on these kinds of topics and break it down to its nitty gritty. you could easily make a 30 minute to an hour long podcast/video discussing this kind of theory, it would be really fun to hear your thoughts and see the discussion between your team with varying viewpoints. side comment: why choose "fair" and "unfair" to establish the X axis? while im sure everyone dislikes getting rai combod or seeing a double storm slime slap their face, what defines fair? and unfair?

    • @GAChessClub
      @GAChessClub 14 дней назад

      "There are a few follow-up videos planned in relation to this theory and getting deeper into deck-building! We just wanted to test the waters before full-sending. Fairness is based on the presentation of information; a fair deck presents information readily on board and creates several windows for an opposing deck to interact. An unfair deck tends to reserve information by keeping cards in hand or gaining immediate impact from cards with very little room for interaction; this is why control and combo are inherently 'unfair' in nature. I'm a huge fan of unfair decks, personally!" - Rex

    • @GAChessClub
      @GAChessClub 14 дней назад

      "Sideboarding into midrange as aggro is unfortunately a bit more context-oriented; general recommendations are to include more mixed damage, unpreventable damage, or to fatigue their resources faster than you do your own. You can also push into a small combo package to make the match up slightly more explosive. Since it is generally unfavorable, sometimes all you can do is try to side in the aforementioned effects to mitigate the losing percentage as much as possible" - Rex

    The water sideboard looks super interesting! I am still slightly new to the game, but would swapping your element to water mean your fire cards like creative shock would just be dead weight in the deck? Or am I missing something

    • @GAChessClub
      @GAChessClub Месяц назад

      Somewhat yea. So in this list, you have 9 fire cards and 4 water in the side, so after sideboarding into water you’d have 5 dead fire cards in the main deck. But, they aren’t completely dead since you can still use them to pay for reserve costs and banish to level up with Now that we have the new sideboard rules (15 card sideboard but mat deck cards take up 3 slots), the water side can be a lot more effective since you could side say 7 water cards and maindeck only 7 fire in order to have a clean swap. Or like 4 water cards but then some extra generic norm cards, etc

    • @GAChessClub
      @GAChessClub Месяц назад

      We found the deck to be quite good against both luxem and Merlin in our testing. You can just race to 3 and then ascension loop cards from them and it’s back breaking. Veiling puts in a lot of work and just making sure you don’t die, and you can just burst kill. Majestic spirit isn’t an issue because you can just zephyr it end of turn

    New to GA and would like to build this because I love control decks, and Tonoris aesthetic clicked me Unfortunately, due to its pricing and stock issues, I don't have an Academy Guide. Any particular card you could suggest as replacement?

    • @GAChessClub
      @GAChessClub Месяц назад

      While the deck was built to exploit AG, it isn’t necessary for the deck. It just helps a lot. The Purpose of guide is to discount your level ups, so a somewhat replacement would be bumping up Tide Diviner to 3 (4 would probably be too much), and now you have 3 available slots. You can also cut Take Point now, since it’s purpose was to protect AG. Now you have 6 available slots, but you’ll need to add back in at least 4 cards with Floating Memory for the Tide Diviners to consistently hit. I also think the deck will rework a bit with the new stuff from MRC, but not sure exactly how, so I don’t want to comment on specifics. You can look at TrueChampionGaming’s latest video to get an idea, it’s the similar concept of a deck but they approach it from a very different angle (and also with MRC stuff). - Noel

    Great vid, just wondering if there is anything i can replace academy guide with, it cost way too much right now so im wonder8ng if there is any other card i can use doesnt need to have the same function just a good card to put into the deck

    • @GAChessClub
      @GAChessClub Месяц назад

      AG in this deck is to give you extra influence when playing vs decks that cannot remove it, like Rai. Originally it wasn’t in the list, and Burner and Matt just main boarded 3 dream fairy for the ally matchups, but found that it’s value was too good in those less interactive matchups to pass up. But there are no cards that fill the same role that AG does, so there aren’t really any budget replacements. However, it is also the least necessary card in the list imo, and was mostly main boarded (instead of side) because of the meta they were expecting (lots of other lvl 3 decks) for worlds specifically. So I think you can get away with just doing that to be honest, and know that your Rai matchup will just be even worse (but it’s already not great, so… yea haha) Instead of the dream fairy main, you could also choose to main the sweeps, or mess around with some of the new wind tools from MRC - Noel

    Hi guys would like to ask how does this deck fair into Luxem during your testing? Normally I see people running Morgans in Wind Crux just because she's a human and forces Luxem to deal with her or else they never heal at all. I'm thinking of also running Magistrate (Just because as Wind we have so many ways to bounce her or it forces a response against Level 3 Decks. Or they'll never be able to DG) and Stifling Trap. do you think these are decent cards to add in the Main/Sideboard? Thanks so much!

    • @GAChessClub
      @GAChessClub 2 месяца назад

      Morgan is good vs luxem in this deck, but in our testing we found it unnecessary. You can beat luxem simply by hitting them with prismatic twice on ~t4 while their influence is low and it’s just game over. A lot of luxem players are also trimming the # of Planted Explosives they run, which lowers their burst potential, so you can grind vs then really well just with veiling breeze. Well timed prismatic late in the game can also be super strong There are definitely some really cool tools for wind in MRC, and magistrate and stifling trap do feel powerful. Magistrate has some anti synergy here though because it’s an automaton, not a human

      It's a scary matchup, but definitely winnable. You're simultaneous racing Rai, while also holding up your defenses. It can be surprisingly difficult for a Rai to kill you through safeguard + serene + LWA revealing sights. Gawain puts in a ton of work in the matchup as well, ripping whatever key pieces they're lacking. Caliburn is in the side largely for the matchup as well, since it'll turn off Rai's levels for a turn. You can watch Burner play into Rai as Luxem on the Day 2 and Day 3 World Championship Streams on the official GA channel!

      I like Uther a lot, he certainly has a role against allies. The problem with him is that he’s slow, you aren’t getting him on board till t4-5. Generally, we’ve found that early removal is the most important thing against allies, and so we’ve largely been just increasing the focused flames count when needing to deal with an ally heavy field, rather than adding uther’s. But, Uther is still a very good card, and he can help stabilize you a lot *once* you can play him

    Thank you for the luxem zander list. I finished 2nd with a similar zander list. I cut the planted for vanish from sight because I want to have a card that helps 100% of the time rather than planted which opponent could react with zephyr/song of nurturing and stuff. Also I prefer ring because in games with bad curve or just in generally less ideal draws it helps much more than a grail. But grail is good post sideboard since I would have element baubles replacing the ring. I see your reasoning for cutting planted, but I don’t think I could make the same change. Cutting planted lowers your prepared card count, which makes insignia a lot worse. Fogging ally turns is good, but you still need to clear the board eventually. Running the 6 fog though does interesting so I’ll definitely give it a shot
