Note this test isn't ideal. My philosophy as a game designer is based off both pace and mobility. These bots cannot replicate mobility since they don't utilize advanced movement / techniques, so you're missing half the equation and the difference is even more major in real matches.
Ideally if you can get a 6v6 custom game going with similar skilled player's that would be the most ideal test.
When you do this test yourself, state the following.
- The KDs you had for each one
- Which one did you get the most enjoyment out of (anecdotal experience)

    TAA has totally ruined 1080p gaming. The problems are amplified the lower the resolution, this is a double whammy considering the rising cost of GPUs. Any detail in textures and geometry is destroyed.

    I think that it has to do with down-sampling to a lower resolution if you have a display that does only 1080P & does not do higher resolutions for more graphically advanced games. That is my best guess on what the problem is.

    There is a solution but it's not practical - running at 8k or 16k and downsampling. But the real solution will probably have to be future versions of DLSS, it's already quite good but it will get even better in future revisions.

    Lots of newer games include DLSS/FSR options with frame generation as well. Is this only for relatively older games that do not have upscaling? Should this be used instead of included upscaling options? For example The Witcher 3 has DLSS and Frame Generation options but would this program be a better alternative? Personally running a 4080

    I even use reshade to blur my games even more with the so called hyperblur shader. Games look terrible without it, everything super pixelated. If there is one thing developers should work on it is hiding those nasty pixels away.

    simple fix for the PC games with this issue... Inject Reshade and use its MXAA. Works pretty well in many cases.

    It's easy... 1) AAA Companies want money. 2) They dont give devs time to "set up" game (as you can see there a lot of difference in work of TAA in different game) 3) They trying to make game for EVERYONE, to have a wide market (never worked good for any company), so in first place they making game for Playstation. 4) Playstation is a ship of computing power, and a whole bunch of compromises. 5) As per 4) there a lot of compromises in games to achive at least 30fps. To make it possible they cut graphics in first place, and to cover it using blur. 6) Blur + TAA works even worst, and dev see it, and to make somehow nice (cheap) image they adding sharpness... 7) Your goggle-eyed cocktail is ready. As for indie games there just no qualification or mastery (or both) to set up visuals of game so they using a "standard options" of game engine (mostly UE).

    TAA is just a tool for image quality, upsampling and anti-aliasing and developers are responsable for it's good implementation. They don't add TAA to make games look worse or ruin our days. They use it e.g. to smooth the pixelated image and TAA is simplay the most suitable option with its performance and final visual result. The industry wouldn't use it wouldn't it be the best choice. SMAA simply cannot fully address all shimmering in a fully packed image of an AAA title. The todays texel, shader and mesh density per pixel is too high to be smoothed out just spatially without temporal components. That is one of the biggest reasons with todays graphics. 🤷‍♂ And with todays heavy load shaders, rasterization or even raytracing/pathtracing not upsampling the image is too heavy for the average hardware and we have to utilize temporal information to properly upsample. And hardware AA is not feasable for performance and compatability reasons. Yes, It's quality varies and it did in older games (was quite awful in DX Mankind Divided) but it got way better with DLSS and FSR3. Toggles for TAA are ok if the developers intend it to be a feature. BUT: You compared graphical fidelity with JPG!? This is BAD practice. Blurry images get even blurrier with that. I could see the lossy compression through the video. In my personal opinion TAA imitates a film camera and accumulates scene information'/detail with time. It feels a bit like natural motion blur happens in those. It looks well for me more often than not.

      @@nocookienolife I don't think the overall image of video games become more blurry because of TAA. It more feels like a paradigm shift of how an image is about to be rendered in modern days now. TAA did come out in a time of 1080p or less and probably will become far better with better shaders, implementation and resolution etc. FXAA started like that as well and aged in a similar way. I am pretty certain the shortcomings of TAA will lessen more with time and someday nobody will complain.

      I'm not sure if this comment is directed towards me, or the general audience watching this video. Cause if it is directed towards me I'm aware of these things, its basic information & in the video I speak about why TAA is used and the pro's to it, I don't just bash it. Most of the video is dedicated to criticizing it yes, because that's the topic is criticizing it since it's most commonly used but their is sections dedicated to explaining why. Secondly, I know more about anti-aliasing than most people or your average graphics programmer. I've written my own AA shaders and also anti-aliasing resources for developers: www.reddit.com/r/MotionClarity/s/onzFCiFSJQ because of this I can tell you that TAA is never required. A lot of issues with aliasing can be mitigated, and effects that typically rely on TAA have been fixed for a decade to work without it like SSR, yet UE doesn't add it to their engine despite supporting other options. I recommend reading the resource and learning about proper aliasing mitigation techniques and more. I only share a fraction of them due to post length limits but theirs a ton of innovative solutions you can find online if you browse through research papers or GDC presentations. The problem with why TAA is forced is merely the fact it's an industry standard, and people don't care about making other things work because its cost or scope prohibitive or the lead on the project doesn't want resources being spent on it since their job is the manage the time and money and meet strict deadlines set by investors/the publisher. So the actual problem is bureaucracy and awareness, rather than inability. Now let me address special points made in your comment "Toggles for TAA are ok IF the dev wants it" - no, its never okay to force it. My current job in the industry is as an accessibility consultant. TAA triggers many people motion sickness. Forcing a setting on people that will cause discomfort is not okay. Just like forcing normal motion blur is not okay, it may be your intent but we all know it can make people feel ill, so let users disable problematic post-process settings. "TAA imitates film camera & feels like natural motion blur" - so it's totally okay to like motion blur and TAA, but before I worked on video games I was a videographer and the motion blur present in our eyes and camera works way different. The equivalent motion blur from a camera is ACTUAL world motion blur found in engines, NOT TAA. TAA's blur is merely an unintended byproduct, while real motion blur is artistically designed. TAA's motion "blur", is just making the image look like it's less detailed. That's it. Its not even blurry in the traditional sense, the image just looks less detailed like the resolution was lowered. Definitely not like a camera. Again, it's okay to like TAA, and motion blur, plenty of people do, but most people like it for the aliasing benefits, I'm struggling to see why anyone would like its gross motion blur, regular motion blur looks way better. Regardless though you can hold that opinion, but the comparison is wrong is all I'm saying.

    Sumary.... antialising TAA, FXAA are really BAD....this methods remove a lot o details in lighting and particles, specular effects looks weak...and general detph in the 3d maps are BLURRY....in ps4, is very noticeable...nothing you can do about expect increase the sharpness on the TV....helps a little bit, in PC gaming you can Turn off this options, and f you want a great antialising (but more demanding) you can activated in Nvidia panel DSR, other great option in PC is using Reshade aplying fine sharpness or adaptive sharpness... in PC you always can produce much better picture than in any console.

    Things I turn off as soon as I open a game. Vignette, motion, blur, post processing, and now I will add TAA to that list. Thank you.!!!

    Temporal anti ailiasing without dlss/DLAA or fsr. Put me off forza 8 completely
