Sadly his father voluntarily allowed himself to be “Buck Broken”! They used to force the black men and boys to be spiritually and physically in that state of absolute misery, but in these current times, sadly it’s a choice!

His dad DEFINITELY seems closeted----ironic being that he was a reverend. The last name "Gay" don't reduce the suspicion either. Oh yea, there were stories that he was a cross dresser too. Wonder how Marvin Jr. managed all that.

His dad looks like Little Richard. Sound like him a little bit too. He looks like he's wearing a wig. I know we know the history, but this video is one that showed him being genuine to his son and I'm sure it wasn't often that Marvin, Jr. had the opportunity to see this side from his father. He said he was a wonderful person and was proud of him. He did what he did, but you can't take away his appreciation for him in this clip.

Richard Pryor set himself on fire, got MS, couldn't wipe his mouth or hold his head up because of Crack. Marvin had been up all night smoking crack knocked his father down, his father said I brought you in this world I'll take you out! Killing is wrong, older people understand that concept of what would happen to you if you attack your parent

@@MsM1975 it may have diminished his character&consumed his mind but it still didn’t pull the trigger. That cross dressing ass so called father did it then even furthermore if you don’t like me Shid gtf out the house that I BOUGHT. If drugs killed him he would’ve overdosed. I’m not tryna hear that philosophical shit talking about drugs killed him. You know damnwell

@@MsM1975 • Every king needs his own castle, and Marvin should have never gone back to live in a house with a man like his father! NEVER! His father was a bootleg preacher, hiding behind the Bible, while he looked like a Little Richard want to be.

Y'all are talking about his dad looking like a queen, so what? Half of you don't even know your dads! Plus, being a queen ain't illegal. Hitting your father, doing drugs and being with underage women are illegal activities all of which Marvin Jr engaged in!

The Dads last name fits him pretty well and he’s basically like “ If anyone’s going to put my boy on a stretcher, it’s going to be me “! But yeah this man was a freeking Pedo looking Creep, poor guy is just getting the shivers when he speaks and he suffered so much because his last words to his brother were “ I got what I wanted…. I couldn't do it myself, so I made him do it.”

You can tell Marvin shrinks into that little kid like most of us do around our parents however there’s an unease with both. Marvin Sr probably never wanted the life he had, lived in a time were folks were not as tolerant with alternative lifestyles he like others were lived a lie and probably grew to resent his family. Marvin Jr forever looking for that approval trying to build a relationship that was never there to begin with.

  • @lacrews10

Marvin did so much to prove his worth for his dad who didn't value his own self so he couldn't recognize his sons brilliance. This is how tragedy is perpetuated.

Until seeing this clip it was very hard to believe that Marvin's father was cross-dr*ssing etc, as rumoured, and this was part of the antipathy between them (as well as Snr bullying them as kids and beating up on Marvin's mother).

Man oh man! I was 10 years old when Marvin Jr was killed. I'm Detroit born and rasied since 1974 and my Grandma's Doctor Office was like 2-3 doors down from Hitsville USA off West Grand Blvd and kitty corner to Henry Ford Hospital. So not only did my grandma know a lot of the older Motown Stars but my dad and all my aunts actually went to school with a lot of them. So it wasn't uncommon for me to be introduced to so many different artists and musicians affiliated with Motown as a kid. And at that young age I knew the music because that's what I grew up with being played but it wasn't till I actually was able to understand the foundation of the music and history in Detroit and the impact that it had. But I'll always remember the day that Marvin Jr was killed because it was breaking news news on tv since we lived in Detroit and just the devastation and sorrow and an eerie hush that could easily be mistaken for a calmness is something that stays attached in my mind and literally a spine tingling sensation that is forever locked into my DNA. My Grandma died 4 years later in 1988 and even today in 2024 I have not go6t any cloaure from that day in1988. But I take some comfort in knowing that a lot of the Motown music is part of rhe soundtrack of my life and it was my grandma who helped score the music and sounds that are part of who I am today.
