Rediscovering RC || Episode 30: My Miami RC Grand Prix Experience
Hi, and welcome back to Rediscovering RC. Well, it took a long time to get here, but I am SO HAPPY to finally have the first racing experience of my (now third) RC life under my belt! In today's episode, I'll talk about how my weekend went, what I learned, and whether I accomplished the goals I set for myself. Although I went to the race alone and didn't get much, I did capture some B roll of the weekend, so if you haven't had a chance to see the all-new facilities at the Homestead RC Raceway, be sure to watch.

Hi, and welcome back to Rediscovering RC! Well, at long last, I have what you could call my "Lost Episode", as far as my TLR 22X-4 Build series goes. If you watched the original series, you may recall that technical difficulties prevented me from recording the build up of the shocks on that build. Hi, and Welcome back to Rediscovering RC. In today's episode, I thought I would have a little fun by "spekulating" on what might be going on with two of Spektrum RC's high profile products. One of them, the flagship DX6R Transmitter that I purchased late last year, is currently listed on the Horizon website as "NO LONGER AVAILABLE". Rediscovering RC Presents: MISTAKES WERE MADE!
What front to rear weight bias do you use on your car?
They also race sedans at Tamiami RC Raceway Tamiami Park Miami every Wednesday night!
Is there a belt tensioner on the X20? If there is, I cannot find it. Thanx...
I just purchased the Serpent X20, it will be here the 8th. Any information would be helpful for this car...
I have the same issues, works ok for 1/10 rears but is not good for 2WD/4WD fronts. I’m actually using acetone to remove quite a few mounted tyres done with this jig and will redo them by hand….I’d say it needs a clamping system (large diameter) or similar to hold the wheel flat while it turns.
Did this issue ever get resolved?
Looks like the jig would benefit from being attached to the bench
Probably - the base of the jig does have feet, but as I got used to using it, it definitely helps to rest your gluing hand on it while rotating the wheel.
Mate I'm getting back into 1/10 off road after a 35 year break. So much is unchanged and so much is so different.
Thanks for your comment! Yes, the comradery and a lot of the other good things I remember way back when are still as great as ever... I also found it a bit interesting when I started a few years ago that the discussion of whether R/C was dying was still as prevalent as it was for every one of the 12 years I ran at a competitive level way back then, ha.
Nice channel man. You're lucky to have nice tracks near you.
Thanks! I wish the off-road tracks were a bit closer, but even then, it's a blessing to have such great facilities within driving distance for sure.
I own two spectrum DX6R and one is broken and I have a dx5c and dx4c and wish spectrum would sell the power button but I am talking to a friend about helping me Design things for the DX6R that you'll need to have a 3d printer like a phone holder or add a camera to it
Hi and thanks for you comment. My apologies for the very late reply as I've had to prioritize other things for a while. As to your comment, yes, it can be difficult to get needed parts, which kind of brings up the whole "right to repair" topic. Some companies just don't make it easy to get repair parts, especially when it impacts the repair services they offer. Add to the fact that the DX6R has been officially discontinued for a bit over a year now; I'd probably bite the bullet and inquire if you could still send it in for repairs, although it does look very similar to the one on other radios like the DX5 Pro, and maybe even that 5C that you have. I do hope that you got it repaired in the time since you left this message.
Just putting my 22x together and found your channel and subbed 👍 just wondering about the servo you went with as how it has held up over time? Thanks for any help ✌️
Thanks for your comment and viewership, and sorry for the very late reply! I've had to focus on other priorities for the past year and change, but I'm hoping to start dedicating time back to this channel very soon! To answer your question, My TLR buggies were all outfitted with Spektrum S6240Rx servos. I went with this choice primarily for the space savings (since the receiver is embedded in the servo itself), and the fact that Spektrum also offers an integrated servo mount that replaces the mounting horns on the servo body with an integrated mount to place it exactly where TLR engineers expect it to be. One extra upgrade I made to the servos was to add the metal face plate available for the S6240, since feedback online suggested that the plastic face plate could crack over time, leading to servo gear misalignment. With these two mods on the servo, I can tell you that I never had any problems. As I will be dedicating more time to the hobby, I can tell you that I'm planning on changing this configuration in the near future, due to what I think is the S6240Rx's only downside in my experience. It doesn't support HV. This is due to the embedded receiver, so I will be changing my setup in the near future. I do hope you tune in to find out when I start producing new videos again soon! For my on-road touring cars, I have them outfitted with Tekin T-180 low profile servos. The ability to tune them and set dead center by way of an app sold me on them. I can't say that I've had a bad experience with any of my Tekin products... and full disclosure - I am not sponsored by anyone - especially not any companies mentioned above.
I love my onroad serpents I have 988e and 977e and 748e and 748e and I subscribed to your channel
Thanks for the comment and for subscribing, and sorry for the very late reply. I've had to shift priorities on other things a little over a year ago, but I'm hoping to get back into production very soon! Anyway, I too have loved my Serpents since coming back, and as I gear up to get back into it, I'm hoping to add an 8th scale, although I'm undecided as to whether that will be 990 or an SRX8 GT yet... We shall see!
I knew that I had seen you before!!! I had a blast running with you this past weekend! I would have loved to do a colab with you on this year miami Grand Prix. Maybe next year. Are you local here in Miami?
Hello! Yes, I live here in the area. Been prioritizing other things over the past year or so... I would have loved to have been able to make it to the MGP last year, but it was not in the cards for me due to other conflicts. As I start dedicating some time back to the hobby and this channel soon, I HOPE to be able to make this year's race. I never got to fully build my 750 Evo, and I don't know if I'll have it ready in time, but I'll try! At least my 190mm EP is good to go if I'm able to make the race.
Nice vid brother!
Thanks for watching and for the comment! It may have been a crazy approach, but TBH, I really like the ‘21 chassis with the original’s drivetrain.
I had the same problem with the axle pins! Lol! Don't feel bad! It took me a few more minutes to figure out the proper size pins for the CVs and the Hex hub's! Infact! I ran into the very same problems you have! But I had a Blast building this kit! It's my very first 4WD Buggy! And my First TLR In a very long time!
Yeah, it would have been a bit easier if maybe they packaged the hex pins with the hexes in their own bag or something, but the good thing is that, since I went through that with the 22 5.0 DC Elite, I knew to measure the pins this time around, haha! Thanks for watching!
Pulling those two harnesses out has got to be the most stressful thing I've ever done in RC 😅
Yeah, it can get dicey, haha - but nothing that can’t be done with a little patience and care. Thanks for your comment!
I just started into Rc and wasn't sure if I'd be 100% committed until I was back at the hobby shop buying another Rc car and now I'm in the position of getting a tool box to be organized since everything is everywhere any advice from you guys who are more experienced at this hobby .. Which by the way I own a Rustler vxl & stampede vxl
Hi and welcome to the hobby! Keeping your tools and spare parts organized is an important part of getting maximum enjoyment from the hobby IMHO. Personally, I'm still using that old Plano Phantom Pro (after cleaning it out in this old video), but if you also saw my follow up episode 17, I have to follow up by saying that I really like all of the modular solutions out on the market today. Be sure to stop by your local Home Depot or Lowe's and take a look at all of the modular solutions available. With a little research, I'm sure you will find a portable, modular solution that will suit your needs. As I mentioned above, even those unfortunate incidents become a non-issue when you're organized and know where everything you need to get back up and running quickly is. Good luck, and thanks for the view/support!
Hey there! greetings from the UK. I am exactly experiencing the same as you. I quick query, what pinion gears should I get for the TLR 22x-4 as a starting point? As a. starting point. I would start with the 78t spur gear and I purchased a 13.5T motor and I am not much experience driver. I am based in the UK where temps are not very high and plan to start practicing on shorter tracks. Perhaps you could give some advice, that would be great.
Hi there, and thanks for commenting! I'm just getting back from a small "life induced" hiatus, but I'm hoping to pick up where I left off very soon. Anyway, if it will help you (and if you haven't gotten it figured out by now - sorry for the late reply!), The TLR manual recommends a 24T pinion if you are using the 78T spur, but keep in mind that the motor you choose could factor into your final decision. In my case, I have the Tekin G4 R-Spec. The R-Spec series tends to favor a little more RPM's and a little less torque, so I have 22-24T pinions just to be in the ball park. I hope this information helps. Happy Racing!
@@rediscoveringrc Hi Thanks very much - very helpful. That consideration you mentioned is a very pertinent. I will definitely factor that in.
I bought the roller and flipped my insert on rear arm over fro 0 to 4 and now one of my rear wheels looks like it has positive camber now
Yeah, any time you make a change to ANY part of the suspension, other things are bound to change, so it's important to always go over your key measurements. For example, even something as simple as changing your upper shock mounting position is sure to alter your ride height, so you have to adjust accordingly. Always keep your setup sheets handy, so you that you have a quick reference to give everything a once over. Thanks for your comments!
Thank you for your neutral review. From what we see here, it would be best to reduce the disc stack, probably another 2R disc or more to make it work. As there are too many different compounds and tires, thus different configuration of stacked discs and we will record it down once it worked, so when we repeat the same tire and compound, the same configuration will work again. Main concept is that the disc stack height has to be right, then adjust the M3x8 grub screw to make it open more or less during gluing. Hope to see a success the next review! Do feel free to contact us directly if you still face any problem and we will do our best to get it work for everyone.
Fail
I’m in the same boat. My hiatus has lasted 25 years. I’m only just getting back into it with my son now. My main brands were Losi and Associated, but I did love running X-ray and Schumacher off-road cars as well. My first new car back to the hobby will be the Losi 22X-4. Glad to see these vids. As in your first video I still have my TC3. I used to have the RC-10 LSO. Great videos. Keep it up
Thanks! And it's good to see a lot of the old school folks getting back in as well. I'm just returning from a small "life induced" hiatus - turns out 2021 got a little crazier than I expected, haha! Any, thanks for the view and support, and I hope to get back on the RUclips wagon by month's end.
23:42 lol I came here searching for spma1206 and what the blue strip is for
Sorry to disappoint; I guess I was just as confused as you were, haha! Thanks for watching!
Always had a soft spot for Serpent, I think they are Old as me , they started in 1980 if i’m not mistaken. The first Competition nitro car that i held on hands was a Serpent and as a kid i was fascinated of that little full working scale Car, suspensions , diffs etc. Now since it was a very long time that i ran an Rc car the itch to start again is getting bigger. I’m already into the RC airplane world but I’m really tempted to get this same Car.
Serpent has certainly stuck with me when I decided to come back to the hobby, and it blows my mind that they have cars in practically every class of competition! The experience so far has been pretty favorable for me. Sure, like any other brand, they are not perfect, but their commitment to continuously develop cars (sometimes to a fault if you've seen Episode 26, haha!) is pretty admirable. I'm not disappointed with my decision to go with Serpent for On-Road at all. Thanks for the comment! It's been a crazy-busy 6 weeks for me so far this year, but I should be putting together some more content for this car, not to mention the 750 EVO soon!
Really enjoyed the video. While I still try to buy mostly from my closest hobby shops, I too have had great experiences with Amains service. They definitely get some of my hobby budget.
Yeah, I'm still on the hunt for a good hobby shop near me. That is something that has just dried up in this area over the years, unfortunately... There are a few in the next county (where I work), but they close before I'd be able to reach them, and too far to visit during lunch. Anyway, until I find a good one to frequent, it's nice to know that there are good options online. THanks for your comment!
Thinking about getting back into rc myself. I’ve owned serpent and X-ray and Magen in the past. Great video
Sorry for the late reply - it's been a crazy-bust 2021 for me so far... Anyway, to be honest, from a technology standpoint there probably hasn't been a better time to get back in the hobby. I was literally blown away by how far things have come - So many good, competitive brands on the market, no more crystals, batteries that you can race up to 10 minutes with (or more reliable engines if you run Nitro)... It's one of the reasons why I want to introduce my kids to the hobby. It sure beats sitting in front of a TV playing video games all the time, and there's so much potential to learn some pretty neat life skills. 😊 Thanks for the comment!
Nice job man, good luck in 2021!
Thanks! I’ll do my best, and teach the next generation in the process. 🙂
Good vid. I have been running on dirt for a few years now and hoping that an on road track opens soon. Would love to run some tc cars again. Good luck in 2021.
@@StocktoModRC Here I was thinking that I would be taking the buggies out to drive first, but alas, this opportunity came up and I couldn’t pass on it. I’m looking forward to getting a chance to drive those soon. Good luck in 2021, and I hope you find opportunities to do some on-road racing yourself! Thanks for your comment!
Just subbed to your channel because I’m in the same boat. Getting back into RC after 20 years and am so excited. Taking my son and nephew on the journey and hopefully they will love it like I did in the late 80s early 90s and then late 90s and early 2000s. I Really really wanted the DX6R but it showed as discontinued at the hobby shop websites. I emailed Spektrum 3 days ago and they in fact confirmed it’s discontinued. I looked for a used one and found a few but am hesitant. I do ABSOLUTELY believe a successor is coming and soon (1st quarter 2021). I’d imagine a forth quarter 2020 release was what was planned but the ‘rona screwed that up. We shall see. Good luck and I hope you and your daughter have a great time with the awesome RC hobby.
Hi, and thanks for your comment! Yes, although it's a bit disappointing that the DX6R is no longer available, I do believe that it's a result of this current Global situation - meaning, they probably would have announced a successor by now, and the gap in their product lineup would be short-lived. That being said, Spektrum reps on the forums I follow regularly have "hinted" (without confirming or denying anything) that there is something in the works. If you've seen the iX20 that the Air division released last year, I would expect a DX-"Next"-R radio to run along the same lines. Spektrum reps have hinted that the Surface team learned a lot from what the Air team did, not to mention a few tricks of their own... :) So here's hoping they announce something soon in 2021!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Wow, Thanks! I hope you are enjoying the content!
Can you look at the natrix 750-e next? Great video!
I try to keep on top of all things related to the brands I run, and I know that it's been a hit with the Drag racers. While I don't drag race myself, I'll be sure to touch base with those who do and see if I can prepare something.
Hi. Been out racing yet ?
I’ve been crazy-busy with other matters, so not yet... 😔 but I’m hoping to take the TLR’s in the next couple of weeks, depending on the Coral Springs schedule. I just need to get a work table, chair, and a tent if I can swing it. This South Florida sun shows no mercy, even this time of year! As for the Serpents, my local track is actually in the process of relocating, so if I can get my X20 geared up, Coral Springs’ On road track will once again be the site of my shakedown. Thanks for your comment!
The rear toe mount on the center of the chassie needs to be set back one hole. Your toe arms are not in a stright line across the chasie.
Holy cow, you are right! Now I know how really tired my eyes can get after a while. I’m sure I would have been scratching my head if I got around to trying the underside chassis stiffener. 😂 Thank you for that astute observation and the comment! 👍🏼
I didn’t like the plastic quik clips for the caster adjustment found they bound up the suspension movement. So I have used alloy shim spacers. Yes this loses the quick change ability but find the suspension is super smooth. This is on my X20 FWD car
I’ve seen that suggested on RCTech (or was it the FB group?), and I picked up plenty of 1 and 2mm spacers, so I may give that a try at some point in the future once I establish a good base setup for myself - but for now, everything really freed up quite a bit, especially once I installed the optional drive parts up front. Thanks for your comment!
I have a Husky "Connect" system.. got it from Home Depot for something like $75. I love it!! Its got plenty of storage for all my rc stuff. That said, I wish it had smaller storage bins for my small parts and screws. So I'll be getting a smaller parts storage tray for those type items
Steve Marcil Yeah, there are so many options these days, it’s insane! I recently noticed that the HDX organizers featured in this video have now dropped to near Walmart prices (for the comparable HyperTough ones) since I released this video. Given that you bought into a system, check to see if they have a compatible stack-on organizer that suits your needs. Chances are, they might. If not, the HDX ones are an even more attractive option at the lower price. Thanks for commenting!
@@rediscoveringrc I definitely will. Thank you
Hi mate. Just like you im also rediscovering rc .I also went through my kit and found an old Tekin speedo that had a relaceable fuse. I remember blowing a few of these and they weernt cheap at about £4 .( back in the 80's that was quite alot ) I worked out that the local hardware shop sold fuse wire for a few pence , so i cut a short length and slipped in the tekin fuse and it worked a treat. Tekin must have gotten smarter as the next 1 i bought ( 410 ?)had a solder drop fuse!.Funny how something as simple as your video brings back great memories . Great work mate !
Yes, it's amazing how far the tech, especially in electronics have come! I remember having to adjust small pots on the ESC to adjust neutral relative to your radio. If you weren't careful, you could have a runaway if it was way off. It's nice to see that with instant receiver binding, not to mention automatic throttle setting detection makes things so much easier. I still happen to have a pair of Novak 410-MxC's from my RC10L's, not to mention a Novak Cyclone TC, with Noval XXL FM receiver that's on my old Team Associated TC3. Thank you for sharing memories and for your comment!
Waiting for DX6R pro, I asked about it but they wouldn't tell me any information but said there probably is one coming up but didn't know what time frame, Great video by the way
Thanks! Well, I've been around various forums and FB groups, and it pretty much goes without saying that no one associated with Horizon or Spektrum is going to be able to confirm or deny anything about a product that has not been announced yet. That being said, I've seen a few Horizon products go On Sale or show up discontinued not long before a successor product was announced over the past year. The TLR 8ightX, 22 5.0 DC, and 22-4 2.0 all saw sales before their successor was officially announced (the latter was somewhat spoiled by Dakotah Phend's surprise appearance at the WC with the 22X-4). I've also seen a few "hints" here and there discussing how exciting the "next" things on deck at Spektrum would be, without giving any details of course... But the fact that the radio is now "No longer Available" is definitely a sign that they will probably be ready to announce something soon.
What area of Florida are you from?
Nuclear Crypto I am down in Southeast Florida. Thanks for your comment!
Worth checking with Ryan Harris. Not sure if he’s in the same area of Florida. He is TLR and Associated. He has a RUclips channel. May have some tips for you.
Lindsay Cripps Oh, for sure! Yes, I have already had opportunities go get feedback from him, and he’s always been willing to help out the community, even before his official appointment as a TLR RTM. He lives halfway up the state, but has been to both facilities; the JConcepts SuperCup series stops at those two facilities each year. Thanks for commenting!
cool video, never seen the tire tool before. Sucks that it didn’t work for you
Thanks for the comment! As I mentioned, it has been quite the adventure, and it won’t likely be the last update. Rears in general have given me good results, so the jig is not a total wash. If you run 8th scale, I totally encourage you to check out the link to Rajaa111’s video in the description, which shows that Jig in Use. The results of this attempt also led to some other conclusions which I will update the description with. The tires tested in this video were JConcepts Ellipse Greens, which is a pretty soft and “gummy” compound. I also have a set of Pro-Line Positron S3’s, which although pretty soft themselves, are a bit firmer than the JCon Greens. I also have the Ellipse in the Blue compound, so this is something I will keep experimenting with. It has become apparent with all the dry runs that the consistency of the compound could factor in as well, as even by manipulating the tire in my hands, it was pretty easy to unseat the bead from the groove.. In either case, stay tuned. This story may not be over quite yet.
Rediscovering RC how do you think it would do on 1/10 2.2/3.0 short course tires & wheels? I do run 1/8 buggy and bashers so i will definitely checkout video you recommended . Great knowledge here , appreciate you sharing
norcalrc TBH, that is a good question. Raceform currently offers a Lazer Jig for SCT that also includes an 1/8th buggy conversion. As SCT wheels have different diameter beads between their inner and outer faces, It basically allows the center post to move over a bit. I happen to like the use of the small disc with a bearing, which would eliminate the issue I have with the 1/10th nut. I think that the SCT wheel is wide enough that this wouldn’t be a problem, but without trying it for myself, I wouldn’t be able to tell you for sure. One interesting feature is that they also include a sleeve that slides over the 4mm threaded post to slide 1/8th scale wheels on. Change the spacing on the post and roller, and you should have a 1/8th jig as well. Again, I can’t say how this would perform vs. the dedicated 1/8th jig, but here’s the link to Raceform’s product video, and you can judge for yourself: ruclips.net/video/qDIMObRKkl4/видео.html
Rediscovering RC thx i will check it out
Thank you for the videos! I’m curious why you went with tlr as opposed to associated when you cane back into the hobby?
Hi, and thank you for commenting! Well, to be honest, it was a “perfect storm” of events. I looked around at several brands, especially since I knew that I would be looking to eventually get into on-road as well. Because support was also important to me, I knew that AE or TLR would probably be sure bets. I was honestly leaning toward AE (given my former RC life running nothing but AE), but then came the rumors that they were getting out of on-road altogether. Shortly after, Dakotah shocked the world with the debut of the 22X-4 at the IFMAR Worlds - important, because I knew I’d likely run both 2WD and 4WD. Then came the announcement that Gil Losi Jr. would be returning in a more significant way as consultant to the company... Finally, the DC Elite was announced not long after that. From a value standpoint, the Elite was just too good to pass up! Since then, TLR has made some great moves - revamping their support program with Regional Team Managers, becoming more active on Social Media, including their live stream series, and the hits keep on rolling with the dedication to the x platform in 8th scale. I’m not saying that I will be getting into 8th scale just yet, but it’s refreshing to know TLR’s commitment in that class as well. Great question, and thanks for asking!
Rediscovering RC thanks for the reply. I too am enjoying all their social media content. I just bought the 22x-4 so I will be rewatching your videos while I build this week!
Enjoy your videos. Easy to follow. Looks to me like it needs cone shaped piece to centralise the wheel and held down with the nut on the post. The design needs to allow the wheel to rotate still when tightened down though. The cone would adapt to different wheel centre hole sizes.
Thanks for your comment! Yes, after the fact, although the nut that comes with the jig is not designed to hold down the wheel when facing up, it also occurred to me that there might be room for a regular 4mm nut... I already got a response from Raceform RC, whose workaround is also along these lines, so I will be updating the description below, and will follow up with a quick video regarding their response ASAP. For now, I do have to give them a shout out for acknowledging my concern and responding very quickly! 👍🏼
Interesting device. I am a "rediscoverer" as well. I loath gluing tires as well. Might give it a try. Thank you for this very informative video!
No, Thank YOU for watching! In the end, my decision to NOT place blame on the jig for my less than stellar experience was well founded; my post-video experience was MUCH better, once I realized a few of the mistakes I was making on camera. I may wind up doing a follow up to capture the "right" way to do it, ha ha. Likewise, my only disappointment with the JConcepts glue was that the bottle tips were radically different, and did not allow me to try the medium glue satisfactorily with this jig. For this reason, I may include a set of their Medium glue tips the next time I need to order some things. Welcome back to the hobby!
Great content, don't give up making videos
I do what I can, even if I sometimes feel like this is once again all new to me. On the bright side, I learned quite a bit with this new experience. Thanks for your comment!
Really enjoying your videos. Over here in Australia the distributer here (omp.com.au) has this radio as no longer available. Not sure if that's just temporary or not. Rumors maybe true of a new model may be true. None of the shops here have any stock anyway. Even on the Spektrum site those accessories don't show unless you search and then they show up. So your information and part numbers are invaluable. Like the no slip grip. I'll have a look at that. I'd be really interested on a review on your experiences using it and your opinions. Also configuring it prior to using it as your level of detail is really good. Good luck with the channel I'm sure it'll do well. Don't forget to do videos on absolutely anything RC related you have. Even tools and equipment. For instance on the builds you had turnbuckle holder. What was that? Even short videos for things like that are informative. Short interesting videos attract views I think.
Oh, I didn't see your comment, or I would have replied sooner! Yes, the DX6R has recently shown up as discontinued on Horizon Hobby's site as well here in the US... but, if you've been following things on the Aviation side of the hobby, Spektrum did release the iX20 Aircraft radio not long ago, which is a 2nd generation evolution of the iX12. The iX12, if you didn't know, was basically the Aircraft counterpart to the DX6R. If you put 2 and 2 together, then surely you must know what's coming. 😎 As for accessories, Horizon's website is pretty good when it comes to "related products", and that's pretty much how I discovered them. In either case, I thought it would be a good case to showcase them, as I certainly found them interesting, and useful once I installed them on the radio. As for the turnbuckle tools, all tools and optional parts were mentioned in the description for my builds, but for convenience, here are the part numbers and descriptions: TLR72000 - Ball Cup Wrench, 4.8mm - 22/T/SCT TLR99102 - Turnbuckle Wrench, 22/8B/8T I also try to provide as much information as possible related to my content in the video descriptions, so be sure to check that out as well. As always, I value the comments, and feedback, so Thank You! Based on some of your suggestions, I think you'll be happy with some of the content I've got coming up soon.
If you have an iFixit kit, the 5mm nut driver works perfectly. I also had a huge amount of bags that were mislabeled. For example, only 1 of my J bags was correctly labeled. I purchased the ballcup tool & wrench and that made making the turnbuckles a breeze. Also yes, the total lenght of the turnbuckles does not always make the angle of the cups line up correctly. I had no other issues even though this was my first kit. In fact, it was almost too easy lol.
You know, I have the iFixit 64-bit kit, and I often forget how indispensable it is! It's definitely one of the best tool purchases I've ever made, and I usually have it within arms reach when I'm at my desk. I'll need to keep that in mind when maintenance time rolls around. Glad to hear that the hiccups were minimal. Overall, I think this is a well engineered kit with the build flow to match. Thanks for the tip, and for the comment!
Thank you very much for the video it was perfectly done, please make sure to do one about tire prep and gluing.
Thank you for watching! Well, Off-Road in general is still relatively new for me - I was primarily an On-Road racer in my previous RC Life, even though I did have an original gold tub RC10 that I raced a handful of times. I'll confess - I hate gluing tires... but, as I wait for some tires to come in for my 22X-4, I did purchase a product that I will be trying out to see if it will help me deal, so stay tuned!
@@rediscoveringrc Thanks I will stay tuned!
Could you please put on a list the option parts you used it on the build ? Thanks and keep doing great videos
Hi, and Thanks for your comment! Each of the 4 parts has the optional parts that were installed in that segment, but since you asked, I'll be sure to list ALL the parts and recommended tools used in the full Build Notes episode that I'll be publishing soon.
What esc and motor are you going to install?
Hi, and Thank You for your comment. I decided to go with Tekin products on my cars where applicable; on my 22 5.0 DC Elite, I have an RSX Pro, as I hope to get into Mod eventually, and it’s paired with a Tekin 17.5 Spec-R motor. That being the case, I will be using the regular Tekin G3 13.5 in the 22X-4 (as I figure I’ll probably want the additional torque). As for ESC, depending on whether I want to run Mod in 4WD or not, I’ll either get the RSX Pro, or one of the RS Pro models. Of course, due to the global situation at the time of this writing, getting Tekin products has become quite the challenge. Only the ESC’s are available at the moment. I’ve been waiting on the servos for my on-road cars for months now. Hopefully, that will change in the next month or so, as things start to wind up again.
I just got mine today. It’s my first build. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for your comment, and it's my pleasure! I'll reserve further comment for my final Build Notes episode, but I think you will enjoy the experience. 🙂
I know these videos don't get a lot of views, but they are very informative so please keep making them. Hopefully you will end up getting a lot of views in the future.
Thank you for your comment! Everything must start somewhere, so all I can do as a content creator is keep doing what I love, and share my experiences along the way. And if more and more people start enjoying it along the way, even better! :)
Nice video getting mine today please make more videos of the radio thank u
Thank you for the comment! Yes, for my next episode, I'll be going over some of the available options for the DX6R. It should be out soon!
