I live in Arrowtown, a small village in the south of the South Island in NZ now, but I was born in Cornwall and then lived in Plymstock, Plymouth until I was in my late teens You have whipped me back 42 years with your video! I will always remember school history lessons (the only lessons I enjoyed along with drama and biology) with our teacher who took us to see the stone circles and stone burial areas at Merrivale… history in the uk is something else! At the time, I just couldn’t get over the knowledge that people we called ‘cave men’ or ‘stig of the dump’, had actually lived, where I was standing… I touched the stones and the land again and again whilst my teacher described these long ago people and their lives… Thank you so much for taking the time to record and describe as you trot along…

Love the video especially when you fell over and the caption read How that happened, I don't know. If i fall over it is always while approaching the lifts at the bottom of a run it's become a bit of a running joke amongst those that I ski with. I can ski steeps, trees, bumbs and all groomed pistes but the slow moving flat stuff I tend to fall over regularly and I never know how it happens lol. Great video

We were here in May 2023 and in July 2008. My husband's ancestors are buried in that cemetery. His family connection is here from at least the early 1600s. Cheers from Canada.

Really pretty village, thanks. I'd not seen this one before. I know the Gulf Stream makes a huge difference in climate, but it is a shock to see a palm tree so far north!

Much the same here mate. I did Scouts when I was younger, then did my DofE gold and went back to my old scout group to help as a cub leader. There are periods without much outdoor adventure in my life, but I always come back to it and will always be inspired by the challenges and experiences I had to do. Thank you for the reminder.

I just watched this video again. I used to ski in LesArcs regularly and love it when you give the names of the pistes or areas. Some I recognise easily, some areas have changed a bit since I was last there. Thank you again.

Sometimes it's a whole lot better when there's no 'voiceover' and the atmospherics and view provides the commentary. Exactly so here... Thus many thanks for your approach! (Now have we ever cruised to Marple?? mus have been a long time ago, and we've given up boatin some years since.....

Walked this in reverse, we came from Ashton Basin (is it called?), on Easter Monday 1967. Caught the 90 bus back home from Marple.

I recognised most of the runs. I love Les Arcs, especially Arc 2000. Really enjoyed the trip, thanks for posting.

some of those canals are so narrow it's almost hard to believe the barges can get through....this is wonderful and I'd walk it daily if I lived there. I love that kind of weather and I enjoy being by the water. I was amazed that aquaduct could handle all the weight of water and barges too? WOW!!

Thanks for this, my wife's family originate from Mousehole and we have tried to find the exact spot where everything happened - now we know where to pay our respects when we next visit. Can you get down to the beach or is it impassable?
