Aquasana Under-Sink Water Filter Replacement: Easy Step-by-Step Guide
I just replaced two of these bad boys because of this video thanks for putting it up!
That’s awesome! Nice job!! 🥳
Great advice on cleaning the acid.
Great video but I would have not sped up the video at 1:46 -- this is an important step.
Do you think the auger was really necessary or would vinegar alone have done the job? I'm back and forth about buying an auger, but the soap scum is pretty thick. Also, how did you get those pics of inside your drain? Big fan of the subscribe animation 😊
Thank you! 😊 I filmed the close-up drain shots using my iPhone 13 mini. I think using the soak and scrape method with the vinegar alone would have helped to dislodge the clog.. I wish I had thought to try that first!
I don’t know if this is trivia, but I always thought it was backwards until I went to diesel school but you remove the red first and then you put it back on first
I never quite feel like I know how to estimate and never quite saw a tutorial that didn’t say “it should be the same size”. This is the best explanation I’ve seen.
Thank you! I'm glad you found this helpful 😊
The puck light is in a totally different part of the ceiling. Where was the wiring in the ceiling for that light?
You make it look so easy , I am going to have to replace about 3 of my shut off valve’s soon, thanks 🙏
Thank you ☺ Best of luck with replacing your shut-off valves!
Cut off old valve and replace with a SharkBite Max 1/2 in. Push-to-Connect x 3/8 in. O.D. Compression Quarter-Turn Angle Stop Valve. 10 minutes to complete.
As long as pipe length isn’t an issue, this is a quick and easy approach - thanks for sharing! I'll keep the SharkBite valve in mind for the next shut-off valve replacement ☺
Thank you for the video!!
You are most welcome! ☺
That little animation of the 'wildcat' with the paint brush and hammer is sneaky awesome.
Thank you ☺ And thank you for being the first to comment on it! I had fun brainstorming this animation. I got the idea to suggest subscribing in a creative way after watching a lilafromyoutube video where a cat silhouette runs across the screen leaving 'subscribe' behind it ❤
Great step by step! And needed that battery type suggestion too! Subscribing and sharing! Thanks!
Thank you very much ☺ I'm so glad you found it helpful!
If you want to see a job done right . . .
❤
All those people replying they prefer fluorescent lights… why are you watching and then commenting on this well organized and clearly explained video? Oh wait, it must be all that healthy melatonin producing strobe lighting that’s got you making such wonderful choices while you’re narcolepsing…😅 P.S. Excellent tutorial.
Fluorescents have shown to be more reliable and longer lasting than many LED's with proper care
Did you loop the supply line to create an air seal or was it due to it being long?
I looped the supply line because it was long. I prefer using one that is slightly longer than needed for an easier connection, and I think the loop gives a clean, tidy look ☺
Heads up for LED bulb life: you’ll either want somewhat open/vented fixtures or bulbs rated for enclosed fixtures. Otherwise, the electronics overheat and die way early!
Thank you ☺ This is good to be mindful of when installing light fixtures!
What you are saying is completely true. Another reason you disconnect the negative first is while you are loosening the negative cable with a wrench is if your wrench comes in contact with anything metal under the hood nothing will happen because the car has a negative ground. If you decide to disconnect the positive first and your wrench touches anything metal it will cause a direct short to ground and cause a lot of damage.
This is a well-explained and important callout - thank you!
21mm and 24 mm open end wrenches fit the valve and the nut, respectively. 5/8-inch open end wrench fits the lower braided supply line nut.
Perfect! Thank you for sharing this info ☺
As a mechanic this was perfect its short, sweet, and to the point while providing excellent commentary. You even gave tips on what you can do to help retain battery life while not being necessary they definitely help preserve the battery's life.
Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and share this feedback ☺
Tbh thats a downgrade
yeah
Thanks
Thankyou!! Subbed. Blessings.
I just need to replace the line it's leaking from the part that goes up into the toilet I don't need to do all that extra stuff
Thank you very much. Perfect tutorial.
I'm so glad ☺ Thank you!
Why can’t I find that exact ladder that comes with the cat? No stores seem to have it… 😂
You are tenacious! Best trial and error demo to success video I've seen in a while!
Haha, thank you! ☺I’m glad I was able to get rid of the odor and buildup - just knowing how the drain initially looked drove me crazy!
Feit Electric is a good brand, but I prefer fixtures with replaceable bulbs. The original light fixtures were pretty nice for me, though. Also, I would sell those fluorescent fixtures to make money if I wanted to upgrade my lighting.
Zero people would buy that old junk.
@@violetjames7534 Nice rage bait
@@Warp2090 simple facts.
Thank you so much! Perfect - I’m a pro now
You're so welcome! YAY🎉 I'm glad to hear this ☺
Can I have the old fluorescent shop light?
Thank you so much! I’ve been dealing with this for years. I thought it was coming from my water heater and every time I’d treated it with bleach the odor went away for a while, but I think that was because I was rinsing the bleach out through my shower and that was temporarily reducing the odor. What a goof! I’m going to HD this afternoon to get some stuff to fix this once and for all.
You're so welcome ☺ Odor sources can be tough to pinpoint. It took me a while to figure out the source of the one in our bathroom too. Best of luck!
my ladder didn't come with a cat, is that ok
Good question. I think this should be okay. Actually, efficiency may even improve by 10+% 😉
I would have taken the fluorescent tubes as I’m not a big fan of these LEDs.
Just under 3 hrs? This is why guys get paid more. 30 minutes tops! Wtf are you doing for 3 hours?
FLORUSCENT LIGHT BESTT. LED LIGHT 🤮🤮🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢😌🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢
agreed
Thank you! I found this to be the most practical and informative video for compression valve toilet supply line replacement. My only comment is that I prefer the 1/4-Turn valves. They seem to be more reliable.
Thank you for your kind words! Your message brightened my day ☺ It seems many prefer the 1/4-turn valves. That's what I plan to use next time I need to replace a compression valve.
i never actually thought about that when I had do that with our Jeep. The RFID makes perfect sense. very cool, thanks!
Thank you ☺
ASMR!
Great review‼️
Thank you ☺
Thank you ma'am!!
You're most welcome ☺
I had one that stopped getting water through. I bought a new one , it is now doing that again. These are expensive and you should not have to modify it for it to work!!
I agree. Where did you buy the filter? After reaching out to Aquasana customer support, I was informed that this issue with the pre-filter being too short was resolved over a year ago. They also recommended purchasing replacement water filters directly from Aquasana rather than through Amazon, as there may be a risk of receiving backstock. Personally, I’ve always purchased my replacement filters from Aquasana and have not encountered a short filter. I hope this information helps!
@wildcat-diy the first failed one came from aquasana. The second failed one was through walmart. The first could have been older because I wait 8 months or more to replace filters. Too expensive to change every 6 months.
You’re a lifesaver!
great video! only thing i can add is have a backup voltage tester… i once had a defective unit giving me obviously erroneous info so i researched it online & the unit was under a recall!
Thank you and thanks for the suggestion ☺ I'm glad it was clear something was wrong with the tester. That's scary!
I dont get a beep when inserting a battery, i tried several of them. Not working, guess ill have to call aquasana
I hope Aquasana is able to help you out, especially if it's a newer unit. Good luck!
Your video included everything I needed to know. Great job. Very detailed, entertaining and to the point. Thank you.
I'm so happy to hear this ☺ Thank you for leaving me a comment!
Thank you!
I want to use it for the wood furniture on my Mossberg 590 Retrograde 12 gauge pump-action shotgun. The original factory stain is too basic for my taste. I like the natural look of your mirror. My shotgun has walnut wood so i think a natural looking clear topcoat would look beautiful. Thanks!
I agree, I think this will turn out beautifully!! Thank you for sharing ☺
@@wildcat-diy you're welcome! And thanks again!
A good drain auger will definitely clear the mineral deposits as seen on drainage channels. Bicarb and vinegar cancel each other out.
Yes, they do! Thanks for pointing that out. I've seen videos where augers with a drain chain knocker attachment are used and they do a great job cleaning pipe walls!
That "yard"stick will only make it down about A FOOT before hitting the trap/bend in the pipe...THEN WHAT? STUPID VIDEO!
The calcium buildup in this pipe was about 18" down and before the p-trap, so I didn't need to go beyond that point. If I did, a flexible brush would be more useful. I'd be curious to try a long bendable microfiber brush to hold vinegar for longer and a long flexible drain brush for scrubbing. Also, I corrected the subtitles to clarify that I'm using a meter stick. Thanks!
@@wildcat-diy - how do you know the blockage was only 18" deep?
@@22Purplemist Good question. I was able to rest a meter stick on top of the buildup to measure how far down it was. After clearing most of it, the shower drains well and water no longer pools in the shower pan.
Pro-Tip: If your shirt gets stuck, you can use another one, and another one. Use as many shirts as possible, because the negative pressure will push them back out.
