I’ve been looking for a band that made me feel the way Opeth did for so long. Found you guys today. This is what I’ve been looking for. You are not the same and that is wonderful. You guys are different from them in all the best ways. Not gonna lie this song brought me to tears.

Rare to find a prog metal band with good clean and growled vocals. Top notch stuff. Scratching that Opeth itch that has been there for almost 10 years.

Please forgive me, massive wall of text incoming. First of all, I'm so sorry to hear about all that you've been going through, both physically and mentally, and I truly hope that you get better soon and that doctors manage to find/fix the issue with your spine. Before I jump into the heavy stuff, I'd like to echo the idea of opening a Patreon. I would absolutely love to support your ability to continue doing what you do. Any content would be welcome, but what I would personally find the most interesting is behind the scenes looks at the writing/composing/recording process, and additional insight into your music, i.e. lyrical analysis, breaking down the songs musically and explaining why you wrote them a certain way, etc. You could even offer composing and lyric writing coaching for higher tiers. Ne Obliviscaris also offer exclusive access to VIP meet & greets to their (high tier) Patreon supporters when they're on tour, that might be worth looking into. For merch, I think new shirt designs and a patch would be great. You said you release your music out into the world to help people, and I can tell you that it has helped me immensely. My grandfather passed away earlier this year, and though he was never officially diagnosed with anything, his memory and cognitive abilities had been declining for several years, and he'd lost most of his autonomy - by the end he couldn't eat, shave, shower, or do much of anything without assistance. At least he was surrounded by those he loved until the very end and was still living at home with help from family, unlike Henry who feels abandoned in his care facility, but still, the feelings of desperation and helplessness at being a prisoner in one's own mind and body really hit differently as I sat with my family in the hospital watching him wither and die. I listened to nothing but The Oubliette in the days leading up to and immediately after his death, crying and screaming in my car as I drove to the hospital - it's a small miracle I didn't crash my car trying to see the road through my tears. It was painful, but it really helped me to cope and process my grief. I meant to write to thank you for that at the time and never got around to it, but truly, thank you so much for putting your raw emotions to record, they may be only reaching a niche audience (for now), but they mean a lot to those who listen. Tomorrow is the 22nd anniversary of my uncle's death (not sure I can type the cause here on YT without triggering some kind of filter, but same as on Eve) and I intend to host a listening party of On The Eve of a Goodbye to in commemoration - I always think of him when listening to that record and end up in tears every time. So again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your words and music, they are a balm to those of us who appreciate them. On a lighter note - I know you said Canada is unlikely but I hope your Northbound tour next year comes near the border - I'd be willing to drive down to New York or Philly to see you live. I'm really looking forward to the new records, I can only imagine the gut punch that "Don't Go" will be, but I'm certain that just like your other material, the pain it causes will be cathartic. I'm really glad you're keeping us informed with these videos, hopefully I can catch one live at some point. All the best.

Hey Chris! Somehow I missed that you were having this Livestream. Just finished watching and I just wanted to say thanks for allowing yourself to be so vulnerable and opening up about your dad. I lost my mom two years ago fairly suddenly and it was the hardest thing I will probably ever go through. "I'd never known life without my dad" I have never felt more understanding of a sentence in my life. I'm glad to hear acceptance is happening for you. Slowly finding acceptance is better than not finding it at all. I'm looking forward to hearing the new stuff, especially hearing the stories you told about it. I'm also looking forward to shooting my shot with a bass audition entry! The thought of possibly being able to assist in creating some of my favorite music from the last decade makes me very excited! Keep your head held high and keep kicking ass daily, man. Cheers!

Sorry I missed it, I was working 😅 but I’m super thankful for this and you! A question I have is if there will be singles for the records? I’ve been so excited to hear concilment ever since I heard it in the mag bar. Also as far as songs to share around, the captive is obviously a great one, I’ve gotten really good responses to it. I also think the apology is an amazing cut to share. That hook is an absolute ear worm and it’s just really fun. I also remember the concilment having a really good melody so that may be a good one for marketing 😁

This is a unfathomable work of art. Every shade of sound, every bit of rhythm, every lyric, every single moment perfectly placed, perfectly tuned to the story you’re telling, bringing it to life so vividly, as a perfect translation of all its sadness and horror. This album is nothing short of heartbreaking, and shakes me to my core. I struggle listening to stage 5 and 6 in particular, because they are too real. But that just speaks to the level of art you have created here. You have undoubtedly been touched by the muse. 10/10 and I only have like five or six albums total that I rate that high

I just stumbled upon this band, and album two nights ago. Man, what an album. It's like if Steven Wilson didn't just produce an Opeth album, but decided to write and perform an album in that style himself. Opeth used to be my favorite band (still love up to Watershed at least), but no other bands have really been able to scratch that itch they left behind. Anciients comes somewhat close, but they have more of a Baroness bend to them (check them out if you haven't heard of them). Anyway, I've been listening to this album nonstop since finding it. Hopefully Chris decides that he wants to tackle another dark theme, and write an album about it. As long as it doesn't leave him in a bad head space of course. 🙂

This song always hits me so hard. My grandmother passed away due to complications from dementia and my mother is at risk of suffering a similar fate... as am I. The amount of fear and confusion there is in this disease is just brutal. The idea of having every memory plucked away from you one by one until you forget how to breath, how to exist, is beyond sobering. Take care of your brain kids, dont abuse it with drugs and make sure you stay sharp by doing mental exercises. They do help mitigate the effects of dementia.

Terrifying to believe I’ve been locked away Must be some kind of mistake Who would leave me here alone? I can’t see the sunrise through these walls Who do thеy think I am? What do they think I’ve done? Thеy try to tell me that this is my home Malefactor they must think me to be Get out! Let me go! I was frustrated that I'd never heard of this band before - but now I'm just feeling a deep sadness that reminds me quite a bit of the same emotional notes I feel when I'm listening to another emotionally heavy (but not as musically 'heavy' as this one) album - Hospice by The Antlers - both albums hit hard and are emotionally intense listens - the emotions felt by you come across very strong and I'm looking forward to but feeling unprepared to listen to On the Eve of a Goodbye.
