Stronger By Grace Designs

Добавлен 8 ноя 2013
Hi, I'm Kaytlyn. I am owner and operator of Stronger by Grace Designs. I have always had so many interests in life. I like to learn a little bit about everything.
When I married my husband 14 years ago I knew very little about wood working and power tools. I learned so much over the years being his assistant. In the last 2 years I decided I needed to try things on my own because I loved watching my husband transform wood into beautiful things!
My favorite shop tool is definitely the scroll saw. I fell in love with the beauty of creating such a detailed piece out of wood! On this channel I will share various scroll saw and DIY projects. My husband and I have this motto about working with what you got so DIY projects are important to me. I hope to inspire you along the way.
How did I come up with my business name? It represents a testimony. I was at my lowest point in life and didn't know how I would keep going. It was God's Grace that sustained me. Today I am a stronger person!

Yes the red color you chose is perfect!
💗
I see many creators use walrus oil. What brand/type of oil do you recommend? I’m learning so much from your videos thank you so much for taking the time to create and share your process
For the puzzles, I use Watco tung oil. For other hardwood products, (not going to children) I use Watco Danish oil
This was a very helpful thank you. All your tips are setting me up for success 🙌 I was wondering about where can I get patterns from? Are they just printed from home pc/printer on standard printer paper? Thanks so much for all your helpful videos
I either design them myself or purchase svg files off etsy to help me complete a design. Suncatcher studio has some free downloads for stuff to practice at home. Hope this helps! (I use Inkscape to help me design things )
Thank you and I was wondering about if MDF would swell. Good call. Wish there was a way to use rattle can shellac but I guess it would get on the front too
Since making this video. I found a better way. I prime with the paint I plan to use. After sanding and re painting, it has the same effect.
@ oh great idea. Thank you for letting me know.
Oh my goodness I have been looking for prescription reader woodworking glasses like your wearing. Can you share a link on here? I’m not sure if thats possible (if not on insta I follow you there too) please 🙏
My glasses are not prescription. Lol I purchased them off Amazon. I can send you a link, but they probably won't help you?? I wanted something more fashionable 😂
Humm I don’t think my saw has a speed setting. it’s a 2013 porter cable (my neighbor was going to throw it out, so I saved it 😂) think it may be a pos but 🤞
Nevermind found it! haha told ya I was green
The Pegas chart looks very helpful. Where can I get one? And yay those are the blades I bought Wheww!! I haven’t even used my saw yet. Just stalking your page for tips as a beginner as green as they come 😂 started following you on insta too thanks for the videos
I believe I printed it right off their website
@ OK perfect I will check it out. Thank you.
Hi thanks for this video. I was gifted by a neighbor a Porter Cable scroll saw I haven’t used it yet as the blade is old and worn out. Just purchased Pegas modified geometry variety blades. Excited to give it a go as soon as they arrive. Ps the Dwalt saw looks amazing
Awesome!
❤ love your shirt!
Thank you!
My 40 year old 14” bandsaw will scroll as well as both saws with a 3/8” 4tpi and the carter stabilizer. Really is a game changer and massively increases the saws capacity.
Nice!!
❤
Great idea, and love your glasses!
@@valaaronlasky396 thanks!
I have watched manyscroll, saw videos, but have not seen any that definitely say you can cut Formica with scroll saw. I have a piece of wood with Formica glued on that I would use to make a dog food bowl holder that is if I can safely cut the holes Without leaving it all jagged and messed up. I know I could just try it on my scroll saw, but I am asking have you ever heard of it to cut a piece of Formica?
No, I have never heard or tried it myself.
Ty for this video. It’s been many a year since I’ve used my scroll saw.. just the refresher course I needed!!
Great!
3:31 Did you make that "Load Blade" ? Looks really cool... Do you have a print out of it?
Great work! I want to get a scroll saw to cut out some lettering. Do you think i can get decent results with a cheaper saw?
Yes, absolutely. Just make sure you buy good blades!
@@StrongerByGraceDesigns thanks, I'll do a little research :)
Your pep talk at the end is priceless. Thank you!!!
😊 Thanks for watching!
Very useful and very digestible video❤️
Glad it was helpful!
I just bought a Dewalt 788 w/stand $100 unbelievable I love it . I also have a delta really old.
That's a great price!
Thank you for this video. It is very helpful! 😃
Glad to help! 😄
Dan from Wales 🏴 I bought a scroll saw recently and not used it yet. You’re a good teacher. Followed your channel for more good advice
The red dot is too big - no way to guess where is your location just looking at the sign.
Thanks for the input. I worked with the client to reach their desired look.
👍
I had a Rigid, was not a great saw. Donated it. I bought a Dewalt, and when came in, the table would just not lock down. I spent a good bit of time on it, and could not get it to lock down, so I returned it. At that point I decided to take the plunge and bought a higher end one. Wow, what a difference. My suggestion is to start out on a lower priced saw, like the Wen, and if you find you want to really want to get into it, save up for a high end scroll saw. It took me a while to save, but it was worth it.
@scottmorris4914 great idea
nice
Thanks
You are an Inspiration. All the best to you.
Thank you!😄
A scroll saw is a great addition to any woodworking shop. Adding intricate cutouts and millwork to other projects give them an aesthetic boost. I have a 15 year old, cheaper RYOBI table top scroll saw, but I don't use it on a daily, or even weekly basis. The saw is very portable. It's home is in my woodshop, which is an out building and heating the building during winter to do a few hours of scroll sawing isn't always practical. During winter, I often bring the saw into the rec room of the house to work. With a ShopVac attached and the ShopVac in a separate room and a 16 foot hose connection, the saw produces virtually no dust and debris and makes no more noise than my wife's sewing machine. Safety glasses are the only PPE I find necessary. During beautiful summer days, I clamp the saw to my heavy duty patio table to work on the patio under a roll out awning to enjoy a few hours of scroll cutting in the great outdoors. The scroll saw is one of the safest tools in the shop and no more dangerous than a sewing machine. I supervised and taught my 11 year old grand daughter to safely use the saw and she has enjoyed expressing her creativity making bird houses and feeders, Christmas ornaments, an array of decorative wall art and gifts for her friends.
That's awesome!! I have at times wanted to bring the Dewalt outside while my girls played, but it's a little too heavy.
Kia ora from Aotearoa (New Zealand). Wow this was the best, informative video I have found so far & I've seen alot! Thank you soooo much for making it, & not only have you made a well explained video, you have also made it encouraging for me. I've had my scroll saw for two years this month 😢 & haven't used it once 😢. I suffer from real bad depression & struggle with believing in myself. Im hoping i can change my thought patterns change coz i really wanna start using it & putting my ideas in to action. Thank you again for taking your time to create, share & encourage, im looking forward to watching more from you. I hope my message finds you & your family well ❤
You can do it!!! So glad you found encouragement😊. Once you get going you won't want to stop.

Thank you Madame.🎉
Your welcome
How much cost blades for the WEN scroll saw, and do they carry them at Home depot, Also which blades would you recommend fro brass or mother of pearl?
I buy Pegas modified geometry blades off Amazon or Bear woods supply. I have not found good blades at home depot. Prices depends on the quantity you are buying.
herramientas o maquinarias muy grandes para espacios tan pequeños
Yes. I make the most out of the space I have. 😊
Have a good look at this Wen scroll saw as it is a generic 16” ( 406mm )scroll saw that comes under a multitude of different brand names all over the globe and are basically all the same . The quality of electrical parts might differ and might come with different add-ons , colours, brand names etc. Have a good look at the castings and table as they are all identical and probably made in a country with less scruples. Buyer beware .
Love my Dewalt
Great video. Thanks
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Great video. Thank you
Glad you liked it!
The Wen doesn't even compare
Great beginners video and I Love your shirt. Us girls Can use power tools just as much as the guys can. That is not to mention our being good at working on cars to, but that is a different story.
Thanks, and yes we can😉
Hola saludos, me encanta su trabajo. Pero no se inglés 😢 y lo que beo me encanta 🥰 ❤❤
😁
Thanks
Wen makes a much better saw than that he one you have and it’s comparable to the Dewalt and still much cheaper.
I was comparing what I had
I watched the whole video and never noticed any back ground music. Only found out there was music was by the complants.
I love this. 😆 Thank you!
I'm a big Delta fan. I had a Delta 2 speed 16" scroll saw that I bought 25 years ago and it was a head of it's time. You would of LOVED it! Model Model 40-560. NO vibration what so ever, super fast blade changing, faster than anything on the market today. Had to sell all my large power tools as we downsized and sold our home 2 years ago. Anyways, the Delta saw has some of the same features as the DeWalt, only $100 cheaper.
Sounds nice!
I have that exact same scroll saw...the 40-560C (C means made in Canada). The one thing I don't have is the hold down foot.(no idea what happened to it! lol) Unfortunately they don't make parts for this saw, but otherwise I'm quite happy with it.
Great revue. Both companies should send you a free model
That would be nice 😉
💯 "Promo sm"
Background music is so annoying. Can't watch the video...
Thanks for the detailed comparison for newbies.
Glad it was helpful!
The result of your work is professional! Quality of materials, design and, most of all, craftsmanship! Great going, Grace!❤
