It's all good, don't sweat missing Parabol, but you do want to go back and listen to them together. It's a beautiful combo. They have several songs intended to be listened to together and there is no way to know that until we help you. Be sure to use lyric videos and such while listening. Maynard has a vast vocabulary that borders on one of the most impressive vocabularies I've ever seen in a single person, so sometimes you have to do research to figure out what he's trying to say. Much of Maynards lyrics are designed around self help and psychology as well. Tool makes music unlike anyone else. What they do is something special, something few bands out there can or will ever be able to accomplish. The more you listen to each song the better they get, the more you listen to Tool, the more you appreciate what they do.

Tool is just as good live as they are on their recordings. You could argue that live shows are better because they add the visual element to the song that is not there in a recording.

OK, this version (I've not heard the original) is clearly influence by originators from decades ago...late '70s/early '80s bands like Joy Division & Bauhaus (the 1rst Goth group, in my opinion, song "Bela Lugosi's Dead" #1) ❤, Seattle

Never heard of this band before, so listened to 30 sec worth...here's a few groups I recommend based on that alone: Front 242 (song/album "Headhunter"); Skinny Puppy (albums "Assimilate" & "Too Dark Park"); Download (self-titled 1rst album & album "The Eyes of Stanley Pain"...nearly every song is worthy + widely varied).
