Corporate Gone Country
США
Добавлен 11 янв 2023
I am a retired corporate VP, having worked in the International Engineering & Construction business for about 4 decades. I'm now able to focus on retirement. During my working life, my wife and I inherited and purchased some country property in Texas. We love being outdoors and doing projects and I'd like to share that passion with others. I 'd also like to share our experiences around making improvements, hunting, fishing, shooting, and cooking. So, Corporate Gone Country is a channel about outdoor projects, maintenance, and activities, as performed by a retired former business person who is NOT a country expert. I try to apply my engineering and corporate experience to whatever I'm doing. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I don't. Join me as we learn together. I welcome comments on how we could do things better!
Blade Removal, Reinstallation, and other maintenance on an old and well used Brush Hog
The brush hog we use at the family timber Farm is old and well used. In fact, we don’t know how old it is! If you recognize it, we’d appreciate any information you might provide on its make or model. Anyway, it has survived years and years of use. And, admittedly it has survived despite less maintenance than it should have received over the years. It's a work horse, and we're beginning to believe it's indestructible. In any event, we attempt to at least make sure it’s lubricated and check on the blade condition. It’s the first time we've tried to remove blades as far as anyone can remember so, here goes. Suggestions for further maintenance is most welcome.

Fast and Easy Hog Quartering and Cleaning Method - no hanging or gutting
Просмотров 2321 день назад
In this video we collect the loins, hindquarters and shoulders from this wild hog that was harvested by bow (archery) hunting. This method can be done by placing the hog on the tailgate of a pick up or UTV, thus eliminating the need for hanging it up. Also, it requires no gutting, so it is much cleaner and easier. Road trip!! Americans love them. We’ve been planning a road trip to Yellowstone and surrounding iconic American attractions for a couple of years. We made it happen in September of 2024. Starting from Houston, Tx, I drive through Texas, Colorado, and Wyoming to meet my wife at Casper, WY airport. From there we head to Grand Tetons National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Devil’s Tower National...
Texas Black out Bowhunting Blind completion with improved design for ventilation
Просмотров 473 месяца назад
Putting the finishing touches on a new home built archery blind caused us to improve the design. We had been completely enclosing the blind on 3 sides, leaving no outlet for air to flow through. This makes afternoon hunting in the early season here in Texas to be somewhat warm given you’re sitting in an aluminum box reflecting heat. We solve that by leaving some ventilation ports in the back of...

Residential bathroom vent fan replacement start to finish
Просмотров 1514 месяца назад
Our master bathroom vent fan for the shower area was simply making a buzzing sound, not turning and simply not evacuating air and humidity. Time for a repair or replacement. The unit was corroded enough that, even though it worked with a little push, I decided to replace it. I found the same unit on Amazon. That was kind of amazing because this fan was installed over 10 years ago. Please watch ...
Hurricane Beryl damage - fallen trees with one miracle tree that landed on top of a fence post
Просмотров 174 месяца назад
Hurricane Beryl Hit the Houston, Texas Area on Monday July 8, 2024. The eye of the storm passed right over our area. While our damage was minor compared to others, it caused some trees and limbs to fall down at our residence. After the storm I went outside to survey the yard and found a tree had fallen over and miraculously landed softly on top of a fence post and didn’t even damage the fence. ...
Starlink Roam - Unbox, Test, Transport, Set Up and Install at Remote Location -- Mobile Starlink

Starlink was finally available in the location of our Texas Farm situated between Houston and Dallas. We had been using internet service, locally available, that was only performing at 2-5 mbps at best. We ordered a Starlink Roam system so we could move it to multiple locations. We found the set up to be relatively simple and straightforward. This video covers the unboxing, testing in suburbia,...
Annual Restocking of Tilapia in our small Pond for algae control and forage with canine assistance!
Просмотров 635 месяцев назад
It’s time to restock our small Texas Pond with Tilapia to help control algae and floating vegetation. We stock our pond yearly with Tilapia in the Spring but they typically don’t survive the winter so it is time to stock them again for 2024. Join us as we make a visit to a local fishery to purchase the fish and transport them and reintroduce them into the Pond. Last year’s batch did a good job ...

GREAT VIDEO!!!
Much appreciated!
Good video except your tie down method is reducing your natural suspension……..tying down the wheels is better and allows your suspension to work. Look it up, it may give you some ideas.
Thanks much! I'll definitely look at that.
You made it look easy. I have 3 stumps about the same size and trying to decide on a method like you've done or rent a stump grinder. I have a small Stihl saw, but concerned about the dirt dulling up the chain and not cutting well like yours did.
That's a tough call with 3 stumps. I might be tempted to rent a stump grinder in that instance, especially at my age (65). If you did try to tackle them without a grinder, hopefully you'd have cool weather, making it easier to work in.
Did you film most of this on the meta glasses? The quality is really good.
The shots of the hogs from the blind, the arrow leaving the bow, the hogs running off, and dragging the hog out of the brush are with Meta Glasses.
Thank you as I almost thought I had to be hallucinating when my AC drainage tube was clogged and the condensate was flowing from up high through the overflow line and in running a water hose with a faucet into the pipe, out came the yukiest, slimy thing I've ever seen, which upon close inspection looked like a snake and was one! I repeated the process several time, with ton of this awful very wet snake skin coming out in sections over and over! I am in Central Texas and we are in a drought right now. I had just had a lizard drinking out of my pool and tried to move him up to get out, but later I found him dead in the bottom of the pool and this one was actually sad, unlike the decaying snake! Thanks for the confirmation and suggestions for how to fix this issue!
Just the video i was looking for. Thank you.
My pleasure. Thanks for the comment.
Good job! Very well done!!! Thanks
Thank you!
Mine got warped after trying to split a sweetgum the same day I bought it. Thank goodness I was able to return it 😂
Just using a measurement doesn't give you the correct tongue weight. Also, replace that trailer jack with a side mounted flip up model. If you ever drop your tailgate onto that jack, you'll wish you had!
Thanks so much for commenting. Correct, using a linear measurement does not give weight. It can only give you an order of magnitude on deflection or movement. i was not necessarily trying to measure the weight, but rather simply demonstrating the effect of moving weight forward on the trailer. One could certainly argue that a 1" deflection is not much, but I did think it was significant. On the side mounted flip up jack, you couldn't be more correct. I used to have one and should get another one. I usually put a couple of gloves on top of the jack if I am putting the tailgate down while the trailer is hooked up. At least that provides a cushion for the short period of time that I have the tailgate down. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
Does the tx22 compact use the same laser as the standard tx22?
I looked at shoptaurus.com and it is unclear to me if the tx22 compact uses the same laser as the standard tx22. Taurus/Viridian have changed the laser to a green laser (which is good) but it costs $45 more than the red laser which is now discontinued. This change happened a few months after I published this video. The new green laser just says it fits the TX 22 and doesn't mention the compact. My advice would be to call Taurus at 800-327-3776 and ask the question. Please let us know what they say if you call them. Thank you.
I have had mine for several years. Harbor Freight gives a life time warranty on this so just take it back and get a new one! I only use mine to split rounds that I cannot lift....oak, hickory, maple in the 20 to 24 inch diameter range. I split them in half or even quarters so I can lift them to my other splitter. Since I am 75 years old, I have to work smarter, not harder! LOL
Thanks for the advice. I'll see about taking it back to HF. I don't have the receipt and I tried to re-weld it so they might tell me all bets are off. It doesn't hurt to ask I suppose.
Nice😊❤❤❤
😂😂😂😂😂😂
That’s insanely cool good job 👍
Link for holster?
Here's the link. This holster can be ordered for many firearms. There is a Pick List on the website for the firearm you want to order it for. Thanks for watching. shoptaurus.com/shop-by-model/um-tactical-qualifier-holster-iwb-owb-black
Nice job!!! 👍
Much appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks for your video. I am having tractor overheating problems right now. I use a 24” extension on my air gun for my air compressor. I spent over 30 minutes getting all the dust. The radiator and fan look clean but the engine is still over heating. 😢
Good idea using the extension on the air gun. I hope you find the issue and solve it. All the best to you.
Thank you for the video. That belt design from JD seems overly engineered. But I guess that's what they do. Nice work.
"Overly Engineered" is a good description -- well done. Thanks for watching.
Have you tried to weld it together again?
Unfortunately, I have not tried to re-weld it. I need to do that. Thanks for the prompting.
We recently bought property in a rural, mountain area with population less than 1k. No cellphone towers in sight like the Bay Area, CA (one on almost every other street) We have one bar with 5g Verizon phones. If PGE turns off power due to fires in nearby areas, we loose our signal. This is dangerous because we rely on our phones for fire evacuation apps. I spent 4.5 useless hours with Verizon. They were not able to help me. Now, as I research I find I will have to pay for a cellphone signal booster of some sort and still Pay for Verizon service with one bar. We are re-evaluating cellphone carriers also. Locals seem to use T-mobile and Starlink. I don't regret leaving the luxuries of the Bay Area, CA for a more peaceful life but I did do my research and according to Verizon Coverage Map it states they do in fact have 5g network connectivity, but then again so does T-mobile. I think they may be telling tall tales? Thank you for making this video I appreciate it. Research on, MountainAngel
You got some good firewood from those trees and branches
I could roast a few hundred marshmallows with all the wood I got
Is there a way to boost cell signal outside of property buildings that DOES NOT rely on Wi-Fi? Even if just in a concentrated outdoor spot.
I suppose you could mount the transmitting antenna (the square white one) outside. It doesn't appear to be weather resistant to me, so you might have to build a little shelter or cover for it where you mount it. As long as it's far enough away from the receiving antenna (30 ft or so), I don't see why it wouldn't work outside.
Will TPWD come and relocate the alligators?
I like your video except for tying down the machine. You shouldn't run your tie down around the angle iron, that's just not a good idea. They can rub and then break.
Really appreciate your comment. Yes, that can happen.
I live in the suburbs with small trees that I’ll probably never get rid of but somehow through the magic of RUclips I’m watching stump burning. WTF I should just be drinking and watching my my little doodle dog run around!
Dogs and drinks are a magical combination.
I noticed at the end of your video the belt was not on the front pulley.
Thank you very much for the comment. I went back and re-reviewed 10:23 - 11:21 and didn't see that. Can you please point out the timeframe in the video that you noticed it. i would be most appreciative. Thanks again.
Yep, got mine replaced and adjusted so thank you. Just need to do some grading around the pop up and I believe I'm good to go.
I hope it worked out.
Thank you for posting this! My Club Car headlight switch quit working (it was actually spinning around) a few days ago. Took the dash apart to check things out and had a HECK of a time figuring out the small metal bar and its placement. I ordered a new switch and thanks to you, I now know where that small metal bar is supposed to go. Thanks again!
Thank you for viewing and commenting. Those things can be frustrating when it should be so simple but it turns out not to be.
Does this unit use regular tv coaxial cable?
Best I can tell it's not regular tv coaxial cable. Regular tv cable is RG6. This unit came with 3D-FB Coaxial Cable. I am not sure about how those two cables are different but it appears the connectors on the cables are a bit different.
Great explanations! Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge!
Glad it was helpful!
Great vid. So tired of the snakes. Tried moth balls and stunk up the whole yard. Thanks for the info.
Spray it with pool bleach next time will come much cleaner and with less effort
I like "cleaner" and "less effort". Thanks! I'll try it.
Worked like a charm.. I just pulled the belt from the front to expand the spring to get onto the front pulley.. seemed much easier than your method. I greatly appreciate you made this video.. for a 1st timer, maybe 35-45 mins to complete the task.
I am very pleased that it helped you. I wish I had shown what you did to get the belt on the front pulley because that is much easier, just as you said. Happy mowing!
I am going to try this. Pest people can’t get rid of the rats in our back yard. Fingers crossed
I found Ammonia at Ace Hardware. Sometimes it's hard to find just plain old Ammonia that is not scented with lemon or something. It was only about $6 per gallon.
Use potassium nitrate
Thanks bro helped me put my belt on today
Glad to hear it! Thanks for viewing.
Yo! Steve! THANK YOU! You showed me how to do this this morning! WOW! Perfect video for an untrained, non-plumber, Dumbell! Gonna work out fine! THANK YOU!!!
Owen, your comment made my day! Thanks for viewing and commenting.
Awesome
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dude, you could have rented a stump grinder for less money than you spent on charcoal.
I visit Overton’s monthly. The lady in your video is very nice and hard working. I didn’t know you could not eat those… I don’t have vegetation problems so no tilapia for me.
As a kid, we had a stump we always burned any paper or wood trash. We did this for years. You gotta dig them around. Half the diameter of whatever canopy the tree had. Getting deeper the closer to the center of the stump. Cut all the roots and then pull the stump. Then backfill the hole.
You have lost 100 pounds charcoal
😊 'PromoSM'
Soak them with diesel fuel make sure let it soak in then add wood
Tannerite
Diesel and a match
Stump grinder. or dig it out. I didn't have the cash gor machines when I was younger. Dug around the stumps, cut the roots as I went, then dug enough under to attack the tap root, then used a 5m lemgth of 2" pipe and some bricks to lever the stump out. At 42 now, I am not sure I want to fo that ever again. Now I get heavy machines to do all the real work.
Pour diesel and old oil on it every time you think of it. Let it soak in over time. You can also use a paddle bit and drill some deeper holes. Add more diesel when your ready to burn it. You can also dig around and find the biggest of the runner roots and cut with an ax or sawsall then wrap a strap underneath and pull it out with a tractor. I hate stumps/roots. If your doing it to lay sod your better off just hiring the stump grinder company-takes em like 5 minutes and gone. Dont forget roots can be wrapped around nearby structures like gas or sewer lines.
