Richard M Sherman live at Disney's El Capitan Theatre 2007
Having just attended the memorial tribute to Richard M. Sherman at Disney's historic El Capitan Theatre, I felt compelled to post this video I shot of Richard in that same theatre on September 6, 2007 for a special screening of "Jungle Book." Here, Richard sings some of the many songs he wrote with his equally talented brother, and my friend, Robert B. Sherman. Enjoy these songs from Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, Jungle Book, and It’s a Small World. I treasure this video, and it proves that Richard was not only a great songwriter, but a great entertainer, too!

I got to fly on the Star Wars jet in Japan
Просмотров 15516 часов назад
There are three official Star Wars jets in Japan and I got to fly on one of them. ANA, Japan’s largest airline, got permission from Disney to have three jets with an official Star Wars livery. One jet is themed to C-3PO, one to BB-8, and an R2-D2 plane. I was able to fly aboard one of them and show you some of the fun both outside the plane and inside. What fun it was to hear “May the Force Be ...

It's a Small World, the music of Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, The Tiki Room, and so much more. Richard passed away today at the age of 95. I will cherish the memories of my times with him. Hi, thanks for visiting my RUclips channel. I didn't work on Once Upon a Christmas but Wayne and Russi were great.
@ Ah, Well did Wayne & Russi have some Many Favorite Movies or Moments that they work on over the Years cause I’ve found out That Russi worked with The Voice Actress of Twilight Sparkle for MLP FIM (My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic) on a Show on PBS KIDS called Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks?😕✌️👋👍🤩❤️📼🤶🎅🎄🎁❄️⛄️
This is amazing you have one in such good condition
Before there was Ringo Starr, there was Cubby O’Brien.
Cubby was known as "One Take O'Brien" for nailing everything on the first take. Practice makes perfect. 2 of his nieces, who I worked with, were studio singers, and they also got the nicknames "One Take O'Brien", for the same reason. Professionalism seems to run through all members of that family. Cubby's dad set a dine example for everyone. There's an interview of him on RUclips, by Tom Kramer, Cubbys son in law, "102 year old man, drummer Haskell O'Brien" by Tom Kramer.
Very interesting, can't imagine Disney offer the same level of benefits today. You have aged very well!
I was lucky to work there at a unique time. And thank you for the nice compliment!!!
I imagine that when you thought the Mickey doll was the ugliest thing that it went through depression and and had to learn how to smile again
Aww... poor Mickey! He's smiling a lot lately now!
@@KeepingtheMagicAlivethat's great news
I wish I saw this show in 1991!
Excellence… as always! Really enjoyed it! Well done!
@@donpayne7 That makes me happy, especially coming from someone who worked with Wally.
What an honour to have met and dine with him in his Santa Monica home!
I hope you liked the video!
This a wonderful tribute to the "old man!" Thank you so much for sharing it. It's a treasure for the family and great memories for me. Thank you for keeping Dad performing.
Laurence, your words mean so much to me! Thank you!!!
You are a treasure! How fortunate Disneyland is to have you. What a great video for the archives. Keep up the good work!
Oh, Jane Ann, thank you for that kind message! I'm so glad you liked the video and so glad you took the time comment! Thanks.
EXCELLENT show, Scott! (I feel like I always say that. 😀) I especially loved all the great details and "hidden" gems in your photos. When I was a kid in the early 70's, my dad worked for Pepsi and we always got the left balcony/stage seat with his "VIP" status. I remember Wally so well, and was convinced those teeth were real. It was a thrill for me to meet him in person a couple of times before he left us. Talk about a Disney Legend! Looking forward to your next show, Lannie Bartlett
Thank you! I always appreciate your support and I'm so happy you enjoyed this video! How neat that you got "VIP" seats.
What a lovely video! It has so much detail. I loved it. Thank you for allowing me to attend Wally's memorial. It was so kind of you to invite me. Wally was always my hero and graciously wrote me a few times over the years. [Yes, I still have my signed Boag-a-loons box.] Keep up the good work of sharing the many wonderful worlds of Disney! Give my love to your wife, Shani, the best Disney Travel person in the world! Jan V.
I'm happy you were able to attend Wally's memorial!! Thank you for letting me know that you liked this video! Shani says hi! You're so sweet! Thank you for your very kind comment! Your message means a lot to me.
I love Jim Thornton
Me, too! Hope you liked the video.
I was a kids performer for a few years and whenever I did balloons, I’d perform Wally’s act. I can still remember the laughs from both kids and parents that Wally’s jokes got and it was so fun to keep him alive during that time. Thank you for this amazing video celebrating Wally!
So cool you honored Wally with your performances. I'm so glad you liked this video!!
I got one but it’s a Knickerbocker one which i got it for my birthday this year! (I’m lucky)
Great video!!
Thank you!! I appreciate it and glad you liked it!
Oh! I remember this tale! This was mentioned in one of the documentaries. It was a sweet story! ❤
I have not heard of Chuck being mentioned in a documentary. Do you know with one?
How fun!!
Absolutely beautiful and stunning
I'm so happy you liked the video!
@@KeepingtheMagicAlive sure do man. Wondeful content and great explaining!
Amazing! So happy I discovered the show during the pandemic! Would love go back to 1955 and take a nice vacation!
I also love the original Mickey Mouse Club but I used to watch reruns of it when I was a kid. Glad you like it.
Magnificent! This is just beautiful. Thanks for recording and sharing. I feel like the work they did on the animetroncs and costumes. I'd say some of the work is better then the live broadway shows. Tons of work into that. Id love to have Mufasa sitting in my backyard lol
I love your comment! If you haven't watched my video about Alyja Kalinich, please check it out. She designed all those gorgeous costumes for the Lion King Celebration. I love that you appreciate all the details in this parade. I think not everybody recognizes all the details, but I think they might realize something isn't as good without them. And yeah, I'd love a Mufasa in my backyard, too! :)
@KeepingtheMagicAlive Sweet thanks! Was hoping you would reply to my comment! Oh I better check out the video. This Lion King parade was way ahead of our time.. She did amazing work. I'm so glad they pieced it together so beautifully. Can't wait to see this new Mufasa movie. Great time to be alive
@@jeniasmackay7931 I agree that the Lion King parade was ahead of our time! Can you believe that was 30 years ago??? I think it is just as good today! Here's the link to the video I did about Alyja. She's camera shy and didn't want to appear but she did help me with the video. ruclips.net/video/kBRIsYCPraE/видео.html&pp=ygUOYWx5amEga2FsaW5pY2g%3D
@KeepingtheMagicAlive 30 years, long ago.....yeah she done an amazing job. Thanks
5:41: Why is this song sound familiar
The song you're hearing at 5:41 is from the stage musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."
Great interview👍
So glad you liked it!!
It's a great video! Thank you sir. I am study in istanbul. And I want to spread the magic of Disney to the whole world. I am also want to working as an animator for Disney.
I'm so glad you liked the video, and it's fun to know I have someone enjoying it in Istanbul!! The magic of Disney is definitely universal! I wish you luck in your pursuit to be an animator.
Scott, I love it and the show officially calls your set piece a “flipper.” I was on the show myself in 2006 and have several Wheel Disney props, including the crew jacket from when they came back to tape at MGM in 1993.
Brian Cummings!
wow that great video that was
I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Thank you.
Bob Mattey STILL isn't recognized as a Disney Legend. But Hannah Montana soon will. Recognize Bob Mattey as a Disney Legend. He did SO much for Disneyland and live action Disney movies in the 50's and 60's
Sorry, I don't work for Disney.
This was the first time I viewed one of your videos, very nicely done. Cicily Rigdon was a very good friend of mine. I met her briefly while I was an attractions host on the"West side" and University Leader. during Disneylands 25th anniversary. She was fully responsible at that time for the Ambassador program. I was able to travel internationally with here for a few years when I was working for various Anaheim hotels in sales and marketing and we participated in many tourism campaigns with the Anaheim Tourism Bureau promoting Disneyland and the area throughout Australia, and New Zealand, A Disneyland treasure to ber sure her stories and recollections of Walt were all priceless. I am forwarding your video to one of her daughters to insure they see it. Cicily so enjoyed telling the story that she had applied initially for a job at Disneyland shortly after it opened and was rejected, not once but four times, then on the fifth time she finally got a job. She was so excited on the drive home that she accidentally drove through the garage doorl. Her sense of humor was remarkable. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Sounds like you had some great times with Cicely. Thank you for sharing. I'll be posting more of her, including some audio I've recorded of her. I hope you'll like it!

Such a GREAT show (as always) Scott! Cubby is one of my favorite Mousketeers. So many great stories I haven't heard and I was especially excited to hear the behind the scenes story about Cubby, his dad and brother on the MMC. Great job!
Thank you so much for the compliment! It always makes me happy when people enjoy my videos and I always appreciate your kind messages. I'm so happy to share Cubby's stories!
Hi Scott. Thanks for this video. It was fun to see these photos of Cubby. I toured with him when I sang background for Andy Williams. Great memories
How cool! I loved Andy Williams! Neat that you got sing with both of them. I hope that it was as great of an experience as it sounds!

This was news to me, but I'm glad I found out from "Keeping The Magic Alive". The Sherman Brothers' songs are timeless, and more people will continue to learn about their work because of this channel. Wonderful tribute. RIP Richard. 💔
Your message means a lot to me! I do have more great stories and audio from Richard that I'll use in future videos. He and Bob were such important parts of Disney. Thank you very much for writing your sweet message.
That's NOT the news I was expecting this morning. Rest in peace.
So wonderful that you got to see him many times. Richard Sherman was who I wanted to meet more than anyone else in the world. I feel very blessed to be a friend of Leonard Maltin’s daughter Jessie and she always kept me updated on how he was doing. I was really hoping that I’d get to see him while he was still here, but I’m glad he lived a long life at almost 96. I loved that Leonard and Jessie Maltin did a podcast with him back in 2016. I hope to meet Karen Dotrice sometime soon and ask her about Richard.
Just heard about it and immediately rushed to your channel to find a beautifully made video that brought tears to my eyes. Sherman created music that I grew up listening to and loving, he will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
I'm flattered you came to my channel after finding out, and that the video touched you. You and I both grew up listening to his and Bob's music! Thank you for your kind message.
So sad, not too many legends that worked with Walt are left.
R.I.P. Richard M. Sherman (1928 - 2024) 😢😭
Beautiful tribute with wonderful music! What a life touching so many with his talent.

Thank you for this beautiful tribute. His songs will live on forever!
Awesome photos & memories, thank you for sharing. May he rest in peace.
This is awesome! I watch "Wheel" all the time and was researching Jim recently since I love voiceover so much. I didn't know he was in the Monsters Inc. rides, too; that's so cool! Jim mentioned the Haunted Mansion, which reminded me: Have you ever considered interviewing Corey Burton? Although Corey gives limited interviews, he loves talking to people who are passionate about Disney history and have done their research, both of which you do a great job of highlighting. (I run a fanpage dedicated to Corey on Twitter/X, which is how I know of his preferences--not to brag, but I do my research, too.)🙂
I'm glad you learned something about Jim! Voice over talent is certainly a very important part of shows! I always loved the recording sessions back when I worked for Disney. Corey would probably make a great interview - he's probably the most versatile voice over actor there is. I'm not sure how to get in touch with him. Maybe it can happen sometime. I sure appreciate your compliments and your kind words! Thank you for writing!
