Thank you for your videos that have been so helpful. I hope u continue to make more videos as well as gain more views!
That’s great thank you!!
It turned out great! Love watching you draw, I learn a lot. I was wondering if you could do more botanicals, and also could you do more tutorials where you talk describing what you are doing and why. I really love your style, I can't wait for more.
Thank you!! I do think more botanical content is in order!!! Currently working on a butterfly for Sundays new video….😀
Loved this tutorial and will be using it tomorrow morning! Also subscribed to your channel 🎉
Hey Lisa thank you, much appreciated 😀
Great video! I have recently been trying this ubderpainting technique. Not many videos about it.
Thank you very much!
Looks great
Thank you 😀
this is like the gresaille or vardaccio technique ...i love it. One thing about this technique it mutes the colors..to look more realistic
Indeed it does, thanks
wow! you are some coloured pencil hero! :)
😁 hey thanks!!
Maravilhoso ❤❤❤❤
Thanks 🙏
It's like verdaccio
Indeed it is!! 👍🏻
Excellent, very life like I love it
Thank you very much 😃
beautiful, honestly I find myself appreciating artistic liberties that are well executed rather than directly getting a photorealistic capture of the reference
Thank you, and of course I fully agree 👍🏻
I like your style and am now a subscriber. At about 4 minutes, I was wondering how much real time you took with this drawing, and you answered that about half way. You mentioned that the paper you are using is not necessarily the best for the amount of layering you are doing here, and it sounded like you reached your maximum layers. If you were to choose a different paper for this same drawing, what would it be?
Hi Eileen, thank you very much for the sub, much appreciated! To answer your question I would say Saunders Waterford hp watercolour paper, it’s expensive for drawing on but can take quite a few layers and has a nice draggy feel to it which I appreciate. Thanks again!
Brilliant color choices for glazing. I may try this technique with my watercolors. Looks photorealistic to me, well done!
Thank you and yes please try!!
is there a sample template i could practice with? I have minimal drawing skills
Hi Sherry, I’m not currently set up to offer templates yet, sorry about that. It’s something I’ll be looking to offer once my channel grows, thanks 😀

Such a clever technique! I love your channel, keep these videos coming, please ⭐By the way, are the cherries farther away out of focus in the reference image? If so, you are a genius!

@@CraigEarnshawArtnah! You good. I once made a horse portrait that took me forever!!!😂
@@sharonalicea7998😂 I imagine horses do take a long time to draw, what with the long face and all!
😂
@@CraigEarnshawArtNot really. Speeding up just adds to the possibility of either messing it up or it not looking right in the end. I haven’t gotten to where I am doing my own images yet, at least not really. I am working slowly that direction, by adding additional things to images by other artists, that have drawn them for colorists to color in. Yet despite that I color other peoples art work, I still want it to look as realistic as possible, for my skill level. I use lots of layers, regardless of whether I use Polychromos or Prismas and because of that, it still takes 15-20 hours at least to do an image. At least I do, if I want the best results possible. Once in a while I will do a “quick/easy/simple” image and just spend a few hours on it, but that isn’t the norm. Don’t sacrifice quality for quantity or because you think you are “too slow”. Think about how many hours a professional artist spends on images for customers. Just because our art isn’t necessarily for sale, doesn’t mean that we can’t spend the time to get it right. That is the difference between an amateur colorist and someone who is perhaps intermediate or more advanced, yet not necessarily a professional either. I have had in the past, colorists try to argue with me, that hobbyist colorists don’t need to use that many layers or spend that much time on an image, as if there are rules that we have to follow. I say, it is a personal decision, how far we want to take our skills….and who knows, 🤷🏻♀️ maybe those that were trying to argue with me, were simply jealous of those of us that took our time and thus got better results, knowing that they personally, do not have what it takes to color this way. I say, don’t change your way of doing your art, just to try and please someone else. Doing that will just bring dissatisfaction to yourself! Another amazing piece! 🤎
Beautiful!!!!!🎉❤ tnks for share! I appreciate it
👋 No problem and thank you!!!
Hi Craig, thank you so very much for this demonstration/lesson! It never occurred to me that I could do under painting with colour pencils! My sister does it when she does her pastel painting, and it’s amazing! Thanks again! Brigid from Australia 🙏😁
Hi Brigid!👋, thank you and you’re welcome, indeed coloured pencils do have a few tricks up their sleeves! Thanks

Hey 👋 thank you so much!!
Amazing!!!!!! I love your art ❤💕
Thanks!!! 😊
Tnks for share! 🎉 I appreciate
No problem thank you
Great tips. I will definitely apply them to my nail art. 🥰
Hey thanks!! 😊
Loved this and all of it true. Values are more important than the color itself…so so true because if you get the values right, anything can technically be colored whatever color/s you want, although that being said, I do prefer realistic, natural looking images. How many times I have told newer colorists, asking for help/suggestions, to not worry about going darker for those contrasts because that is what makes an image pop? That you need those lights, mediums and darks. Then your point of “not being a human printer!”Loved that! All great tips, as well as reminders for those of us that may no longer be at the beginner stage, perhaps not even at the intermediate stage anymore either, yet not really advanced either. Although, there are varying stages for each level too. So, which stage we may be at is a matter of personal opinion too. Great video all the way around!
What a great message!! Thank you much appreciated 😀
@@CraigEarnshawArt You are very welcome! ☺️
Looks great! I love colored pencils.❤
Thank you! I love them too 🤩
Nice!
As always your videos are incredibly informative and helpful. Thank you so so much for sharing.
👋Again thank you so much!! Much appreciated 😀
I love your tips Craig! It's amazing how we get caught up trying to draw something absolutely perfect to what we see but I love that this way it allows our own interpretations. Thankyou xxx
Hey thank you Lindsay much appreciated 😍
Your colouring is amazing- thoroughly enjoyed watching the process.
Your colouring with your choices of pencils is so wonderful to watch. Can I ask if you could list the pencils you used, it’s not to much trouble, thankyou.
Thank you so much 😊 when I can I’ll update the description with the list, thank you 👍🏻
Brilliant colouring and how you used the pink for the undershading. Is it possible for you to add the Polychromos list of colours you used if it’s not to much to ask.
The bread is impressive, how can it look so real?
Hey thanks!! I think the values help!! 👋
