Keep your onslaught flux high so it can get maximum bonuses from Energy weapons mastery's (TPC) and polarize armor that improve your damage reduction up to 50% edit : kinda mistake for polarized armor buff need high flux to activate when as for shieldless it work as 50% in default

another reason why i never really like using astral was the huge amount of skill it required just to make it useable, yes in theory you can made it work without Systems Expertise and Missile Specialisation but the Recall Device take significant amount of time to charge and without missile spec astral practically left without guns for a certain amount of time

I have always had trouble with this mission type.. Still a newbie and didnt realize I could detach most ships to make it easier. Always set distractions and then waited but that takes to long.. Will try this Cat n Mouse method.
Shield shunt builds fun as hell until a tachyon lance showed up
Hmm usually i build arounf emp and shield strip . This type of shipwl will die in few seconds
i love when they do these tests they make sure to fight the slowest ships the game has to offer lol

This ship doesn't have that much flux to use that build super efficiently, but IT IS FUN putting a double hephaestus and light needlers, for sure 👍
What are the other Hull mods?
You should absolutely call this the HSS Red Sun, he is most certainly fucking invincible
You need leading pip mod if you bad at aiming! Even shotgun need a bit of marksmanship.

you are aware of the combat readyness elite skill?
build is a total scam. without skills such enforcer can't even defeat 1 hammerhead(one with HVD MLR)in fact it can't even touch it, due to latter backpedaling.
because you didnt put full assault on them, there's no reason for ai to stay back when they didnt have any shield to over fluxed. backpedaling only happen when the ship it self already get on high flux situation.
It's still impressive that the AI holds back like that

that gun is actually utter garbage. even a vulcan cannon could literally contribute more.

Monitor yet again confirmed as most OP spacecraft e: dunno why this video in particular made me think about it, but I kinda miss the very old days of vanilla Starsector/Starfarer, wherein you, as the player, were at the edge of your seat with your tiny frigate fleet, hunting a small pirate bounty and wrangling your Lasher dueling a Hound. Many hours later, you get a glimpse of an Onslaught in combat, and things are tenser than ever. Things have changed so much
I know this is from months ago, but I think it has to do with your knowledge of the game than the game itself, since it's fairly easy to get a capital ship early in the old vanilla versions of the game if you knew what to do. Although I agree with you that the game is far more engaging when you have very few ships and credits to work with - having to shitty (but workable) improvised ship builds that you can scrounge up with your limited assets.

I'm suprised how well legion is doing even with those weapons and mod choices Defensive targetting array realy makes bombers usefull for battlecarriers as AI no nonger flies them acros the map to die.

I call this the Memeslaught. Focusing on armor is way too good
This build really punishes the AI for every time they use the burn drive... and it's likely a build only players can pull off, like the prox charge launcher builds.
We need more hull mods that act like the Intergrated Point Defence AI hull mod where, when you S-mod it into the ship and it changes the priorities that the AI responds to with it's weapons systems.
I've put it on AI and it worked alright. It'd probably be better if I just used HILs doe.

nah, i real combat its more like 1v3 rather that 1v10, even again costume bounty frigate reaper spam from gladiator society mods its not that hard to deal with reaper spam.
that's why you invest with a lot of PDs
an onslaught build is only as good as its pd, since you cant dodge, and you dont have flux stats to tank
Eh. I'm sure it's a good build, but most of the time it's not very interesting to watch how ships perform outside of real battle situations. I don't know if it's just officers or whole ai-stuff works differently in simulations, but there you can outkite the enemy fleet that you show in this vid nearly with every ship, even onslaught. Still, Pegasus/Executor rocks. Also, although I already saw your reply and understand why you chose pilums, I still think squalls would fit in this build much better. Pilums in such low numbers are just gonna be eaten by pd, and its emp damage is nothing when you have 2 tachyon lances
it might pack a punch but has no real flux management compared to actual combat situations like you said yourself. the glaring weakness of the executors is that they have a high flux disspotion already. ontop of bad maneuverability. So you need to balance weapon choice while also still having good weapons. graviton are received pretty well with with 96a.so make good use of those. HVD's are a must for this, most seem to be going with HIL's for the large energy mount. Squalls at this point just seem to be the most prefered large missile mount choice period. it has lock on abilities while also packing a punch if connecting to shields. flux conduits and flux distributors are just vital for this along with the standard ECCM, integrated targeting unit for more range, and expanded missile rack

I like doing this combined with prox charge launchers in 4 medium missile slots. I leave the side-facing large ballistic slots with devastators for PD. Dash up to something with burn drive and then pelt it with prox charges at point blank - nothing in the game survives. The prox charges also serve as an undefeatable PD across the front, as well as "press left click to instantly kill all fighters" tool.
Burst beam weapons work best in player hands. It's just that the Lion of Sindria put too much faith in his successors/subordinates.
Love watching Tachyon Lance destroy ships. I put them on my Apogees.
The special modifications the Lion of Sindria made were for projectile-based energy weaponry. So beam weapons weren't on his plans, sorry
