I was shocked by these results. In this video I do a simple pen smear test. I am comparing the OLD Hobonichi Tomoe River paper to the NEW Tomoe River S paper. Thank you so much for this video. This was the most comprehensive, fact-based and unbiased history of the Greenwood I've seen. The Greenwood is one of the first decks I really bonded with back in the 90s and it's still one of my favorites. I have the original deck and can't imagine parting with it.

I came back to this video for the third time lol because I am genuinely so thrilled by the Hobonichi's new Sanzen paper. I have always loved the Cousin's layout and I am so glad this change happened because-having now used the Cousin for 6 months this year-I feel as though I am 100% dedicated to using the Hobonichi Cousin going forward. The paper is so nice now that it works with my pens and layout is perfect. I even ditched my TN Standard Weekly + Memo for the new April start Hobonichi Weeks which finally also have the Tomoe River S Paper. Thank you again for doing this test based on my comment, it totally changed my entire planning system for the better!

I agree, the bright yellow 2016 is the best looking. The 2023 pen is the only I own but it gets used very rarely. The .5 tip is a little to sharp if you don't have a solid surface to use it on, I have ripped several notebook pages with this pen but that might just be user error. Anybody else feel like the clip is constantly going to snap?
I def. worry about the clip snapping hahahaha!

The Green Gray was a limited color in the Sarasa Grand line up, but it was not part of the vintage color way group is my understanding. It is gorgeous!

I came to your video because I just snagged an original copy of this deck from a local buy/sell/trade store for $100 (which I knew was an absolute steal) and I didn't know much about this deck other than it was super OOP and rare. Wow! What an absolutely wild story behind the creators...I never expected so much complex lore related to it! Hi!! Between the grand and the clip, which one do you think is thinner for the body? I have a really small purse, so even a little difference matter!

@MyPersonalPlayground does it have rubber grip? I want the grand, but my hand is kind sweaty so I'm worried the metal body will be slippery in my hand...

@MyPersonalPlayground I had a question. Nobody ever responds to me so hopefully you do. Do the regular sarasa grand and sarasa clip use the same ink cartridge? I keep seeing reddit threads saying this is the case but they also always say the sarasa grand is smoother when writing? What do you think?
@@tacticalpencil Yes, the refills are the same for the Sarasa Grand, Clip and Nano's. The difference is only in the pen bodies themselves - not the ink cartridges. Hope this helps!
I love this deck so much! The artwork has so much Energy and Power. I have a copy of the deck but not the original. I use the PDF version of the booklet, but would love a printed version. Do you have a copy of the Celtic Shaman's pack with art by Cesca and book by John Mathews? It would be really interesting if you would do a side by side with the Wildwood.
I love it so much too, just holding and flipping through the cards the energy is there. I did have the Celtic Shaman's pack but gifted it a while back. I didn't resonate so much with it. I don't have the Wildwood but that is a great idea for a side by side. I know Kelly has both, I'll mention to her!

I love these pens too. My favorite color is Camel Yellow, and I spent weeks trying to find the closest match I could in fountain pen ink.

I love the weight of a Grand. I swap the ink out to the dry version though. I have the clip vintage sets too and the colours are so classy.

I get that! They are premium, for sure. Keep an eye out on the buy/sell/trade groups on Facebook, I've seen several pop up there only slightly used with some really great deals!

Thanks! Great question, I wouldn't say I have found any that I'm at constantly. I tend to just do searches for specific products and stumble on videos that I like. I follow TokyoPenShop, Kaitlyn Grey and Yoseka Stationary consistently though :) Hope that helps!

Actually, you're playing with Uniball One F which has a metal tip providing better balance. Whereas, the basic version Uniball One has plastic tip with slightly lower price. Lately, there is a Uniball One P which is a shorter but wider version for daily carrying outside. Uniball provides smooth gel ink refill of various colors which will certainly cater anyone's need. 😀

I so love the *idea* of seeing five years together in my 5-year techo, but I'm having a heck of a time with it, because it feels so redundant to pull something from my regular yearly techo (in which I write every day without fail) to enter in to the 5-year. I've tried for several years, but I just don't think it's going to work for me. I hope you have success with it! Will continue to follow.
