Chester triathlon club always put on such a good event with their Deva Triathlon (and Diva Deva's women only event in summer), superbly organised and always the hottest day of the year! Just missed out on that podium this time but it's more constructive if you just compare you to you and I beat me from a few years ago!! thanks for watching COACH GREG: godleyendurance Coaching: ww...

Triathlon is such an expensive sport and the cost of carb mixes is ridiculous, having tried this ratio on Saturday for a 4 hour ride, it worked an absolute treat! it was soooo much cheaper and so easy to do, maybe give it a go for your training rides! HALF IRONMAN TRAINING | Ironman 70.3 full training week!

Still scarred from the full IM so focusing on the half IM & shorter distances this year, remember half Ironman and 70.3 are used interchangeably albeit the half Ironman usually means it's an actual Ironman branded event, otherwise it's call a 70.3 or 'half distance' (my 70.3 event in June is not an Ironman branded event). It's not often that you get to see yourself swim and boy oh boy was that an eye opener! some major work needed at the front of my stroke and potentially the back (so basically all of it), any tips let me know, any unhelpful comments will be deleted because I'm petty. Thanks so much for watching!!!

How beautiful videos you have created. I enjoyed your all videos. But everytime I was disappointing to see your video views.
Hey great vid. I'm heading to Vilamoura in September and will be in the middle of training for Dublin Marathon in October. I'm hoping I can find a little quiet track to rack up some miles. That route you were on looks ideal - do you have a name for that road or broad directions to find it? We'll be staying in Crowne Plaza so fairly central. Thanks :)
i've always disliked it when people say, "it's like you're running on clouds." never fails to disappoint!
Doing my first sprint on Sunday…it’s a very hilly route but pool start! I’m mostly excited but slightly scared too! I will be wearing socks though… neurodivergent sensory issue right there
Great video and storytelling! Gutted to hear they didn’t say your name 😭
Just found this video - I did WLST and that wind was *BRUTAL*
We need to analyse what happened with the valve extender so that we can remove the risk for future events. You did extremely well to regain your focus after a disappointing swim.
Great work team!
Hope you had a great race 👌
Vilamoura Running Club , are a great bunch of guys, and girls. They run most Sundays , from just outside Vilamoura Burger King. 0800 hrs start for those who like faster pace, and 0900 hrs for those who like a steadier pace. Always make you welcome.
That’s really useful to know! I will be back in October and will check them out 🤗
9:47 the man even sounds like Peter Kay
Haha I’m not sure he’d like that! He’s from Stoke not Bolton! 😅
Informative!
i don't even have "girls" and a chest strap isn't very comfy. I've never heard of an arm strap, but i'm going to look into it.
I would definitely recommend, it must be comfier for men too! Chest constrictions aren’t ever nice 😅
Sound common sense advice from you as always Kate and based on your own experience. You are a good role model for all women who do endurance sports.
Awesome job. Great racing both 💪
I think you swim beautifully, most of swimming videos of triathletes I watched were not that good. Your amount of knee bend looks fine to me. Like Brenton Ford the founder of Effortless Swimming once said when we analyse our swimmimg video footage, we're the hardest critics ourself.
Aww thank you, that’s very kind of you!
It's best to train to raise your LT1. Carbs are a bit like caffeine or alcohol, they're great and do a job but you have to be careful not to get dependent.
I think I've tried all the same stuff you've tried. I'm all for an affordable mix. Thank you for posting this.
Definitely give it a go Matt! Nothing ventured nothing gained 😃 especially when it comes to fuelling training, if it goes wrong you can buy an emergency Mars bar!
Love this, I'm phasing out expensive chews in favour of bulk buying sweets, tested at Outlaw Half last weekend with no issues :D
Love the video. A little jealous of the scenery for your run! Keep up the great work! Dropped you a like.
Hey! This was great Kaggie! Just found your channel - I hear a Northern accent! I'm based in West Yorkshire and looking for a training buddy if you're ever up for a bike or run sesh! did my first Olympic a few years back and getting back into the swing of things! Keep up the good youtube work! x
Greg is absolutely buzzing with the birthday haul :D
Great! Keep it up! I just went outside to run too and it feels great.
the best! Keep it up! Great video, enjoy the sun!
Not an expert swimmer but these are some observations that might help you. 1) Head tilt. You're facing a bit forward, your overall position might be improved by keeping you sight to 45 deg (3:14) 2) Your catch is late. The catch starts after you glide/extend. What's happening is you drop your arm and catch midway (I think you mentioned that as well). You'll clearly see this when you paused your video at 3:30. Look at where you started the catch at 3:35. 4) Your left elbow is dropping, you'll see the entire arm drop while still breathing at 3:29, 3:50 and 4:00. Ideally you want to keep that straight and close to the surface as you extend just before you make your catch. 5) Your rotation on the non-breathing side is happening on the shoulders only. Again you'll notice this when you paused your video at 3:44. But more clearly at the 5:00 mark. It's not necessarily the S pull but rotating from your hips will get you that better pull and exit. This might address your entire arm being too wide as well. Good luck!
Thank you so much, they are some very good observations!! Somebody else mentioned about my head position & that would make sense as I get a stiff neck & lower back pain sometimes too - I assume because of the lack of rotation & instead twisting my shoulders a lot. Definitely a lot to work on, it’s going to be tough finding a whole new stroke but we will get there!!
Hi! I'm not a very good swimmer, but I've watched quite a lot of swim analysis videos. Apart from what you said what I noticed was: Yes, you're leg work is good, but I do think you're hips are sitting still a bit low. You have a bit of an arch in your lower back and sometimes there is a little pool forming which means unnecessary drag. The reason for this might be that you are looking too much forward. Everybody is different of course, but from what I know, you should be looking no more than 45 degrees in front, rather less or even straight down depending on your personal anatomy. What is your head position like when you breathe?
That is a very very interesting point, I get neck pain & people have told me in the past that I look too far forward but I’ve never thought of that as having an effect on the overall body position, I will have a play around with that when I’m next at the pool. It’s difficult because if you’re looking so far down then it’s harder to sight in open water? Because it’s more of a big neck movement? Really helpful tip, thank you!
I think I swim super smooth and then I watch a video of myself 😂😂 Good luck with the improvements 👌
I honestly said to Greg, there’s no point filming me, I’ve cracked swimming 😂😂😂 humble pie isn’t all that tasty!
Nice video! You did miss out the part where you physically pushed past a slower runner and said "she shouldn't be in this race". But you come across pretty nice on RUclips so that's OK. Maybe see you next year!
Oh no! I think there’s been some crossed wires there, I recall falling a bit/sliding & having to touch a runner (I assume you?) & then I got shouted at & told that slower runners had a right to be there too - I really didn’t mean to fall & wasn’t pushing you at all, without all competitors there wouldn’t be a race! From memory I think you did shout a bit of abuse 😂 so naturally I probably sarcastically responded, but tensions were high, nearly as high as my heart rate!! I’m really sorry if I upset you & I hope you enjoyed the rest of the event! X
@@TriKaggie It wasn't me but she will appreciate your response, so thank you.
Seeing you loving your best life doing this fills me with so much happiness! You look great my girl keep it up xxxx
🥹♥️
Well done! keep it up! 💪
What an adventure! Well done team!
Are you pro cyclist ?
Sadly not!
@@TriKaggie why not?
Thanks for the inspiration ! Definitely a great insight
Take a break bro it's been years

Yes you inspired me to do an FTP test this afternoon, its been a while, well done on your progress and have a good time in Portugal.
Gosh they never get any easier do they, especially after a year of not doing them! Kudos for smashing one out too 👏
@@TriKaggie not sure if its my age but Im losing power😞
Well done just found your channel. Sprints are tough.
Thanks for watching! Yes definitely, it’s an all out effort from the start!
Well done Kate!! Under 1:45 😆😆😆
Just 😅
Great work Kate! The video guy is worth the money too
😂😂😂
Bike 19.19mph average in those conditions is a really good result.
Great result, congratulations
Smashed it. Well done 👌
9.5 hours! Living. The. Dream.
In the 1980's I ran home every weekday for more than 5 years, first 3 miles in London and then 7 miles in Birmingham. It was my commute and I certainly did it at times when I was ill but there was no smart watch, no heart rate monitor and no Training Peaks. I just ran slowly. This is OK when you are using it as a way to commute but I agree that it is not wise to continue with a structured training programme if you are ill. Use the time to get even more sleep and give your body a chance to recover. I don't know if I have ever had nine and a half hours sleep in one go! You improved your half marathon PB by four minutes at Liverpool a week ago with a cold developing so I'm looking forward to seeing how fast you can really go later in the season - hope you find a suitable race to enter.
I’m not sure I’ll ever reach your level of running!!! I think I’d need 24 hours of sleep each night to get that fast 😂 maybe I need more Mars bars? the cold has finally gone though so we can get back to it 😌Also you robbed me of 4 minutes! It was an 8 minute PB 🤭
1:20 “my view is that I don’t think you should *coughs* train” 😂
Bravo Kate, thats an amazing PB. Should server you well for the relays in August :)
Awesome running! Great work coach G xxxx
Great video. Any chance of an update on how you've got on with the bike please?
This is a great idea!! I’ll get something uploaded 😃
Hyped for the 2024 recap already

You won the Brutal Half in Snowdonia! Best result so far. You can be proud of that.
