how big of tractor do you pull with
@@grahammiller5812 I was pulling with a John Deere 3043d. 43 horse. I sold the seeder but you could pull with a smaller tractor as long as you have enough counter weight
got a 22gn 40 foot flatbed ramps have done the exact same thing
Awesome work there, man. I just got my dump trailer recently and I am wanting to get involved with gravel delivery work. 7x12 is the size. How do you go about pay? do you have your clients pay upfront before you service? or get paid after service? Have you ever had moments where you provided service to a client, that with gravel already dumped on the client's property and not get paid? do you have contracts? do you have refund policies?
@@guzgamer cool! I’m sure you’ll stay busy with it. I hauled enough rock my first year to cover the cost of my dump trailer. I ran everything through my business so I took card, cash and check mostly. I very rarely took payment up front unless it was over $1000 in material. I have never ran into that situation before, although there were a few times it took people a couple weeks to pay. You always run the risk of not getting paid when you accept payment after providing the service but I like to think 90% of people are trustworthy… 😂 I delivered a few “dirty” loads of rock and gave people a refund or an additional load on occasion, but if that happens I would contact the supplier and see if you can get your money back for the material as well. It’s good to have multiple suppliers you can choose from in case the quality is bad or they are out of stock of certain products. Hope this helps!
@@TheJonesFarm appreciate the quick response! Yea, I had these scenarios in my head and wonder what to do. I guess there would be times where one may have to take a loss if such unfortunate event happens. Yes, you are right about multiple suppliers. Luckily I got a bunch near each other. What?? your gravel supplier refunds the money?? I need to ask that too. all I know is that all of my suppliers won't take back the rocks, they would reason saying they can't take back contaminated rocks. I noticed that you service during rainy days too. I heard many avoid doing that if they plan to spread the gravel. I guess if its a simple dump then it wouldn't hurt right? do you charge for spreading too? if so, how much? I'm still researching about this. I'm based in Missouri.
@@guzgamer The landscape supply yard won’t take it back but the rock quarry will allow me to dump in their “waste pile”. Or I just offer the client to keep the load for free and bring them a new one. Sometimes you just have to eat it 🤷. I do the hauling in conjunction with my full time business which is landscaping and tractor work, so I do driveway installs, driveway maintenance, parking pads etc. if somebody has potholes they need fixed in the winter I’ll do it. It’s not ideal when it’s saturated but better than driving through a huge pothole. I’m in Oregon, and it rains a lot here in the winter so I just do what I can and inform the client what the best options are. Sometimes I offer a “free” touch up 1 time after install but of course that is built in to the price. You’ll have to gauge your market and see what pricing fits there. Here I charge $100-$120 per hour for tractor work, $95 per hour for hauling. All hand labor is $75-$85 per hour depending on the task. Keep in mind minimums.. if it’s a 30 minute round trip load, I charge 1 hour minimum regardless. Don’t let people take advantage of you.. I’ve learned the hard way 😂
@@TheJonesFarm That's awesome! I can't wait to start adding bigger machines to my upcoming fleet 😅. I'm starting small here, just with a dump trailer is all I have. I still need to educate myself about tractors and its capabilities too! I got another question, How do you handle paying the gravel? do you pay it first off of your own pocket? if so, do you mark up the price because of that? OR do you let the client pay the gravel first, and then pick it up and deliver. what's your payment method or how do you go about it. Appreciate your knowledge sir!
Do you have to plow first or can it be used as a no-till
how is this working out? Good buy? Is it heavy enough to be a true no-till?
How money could I make doing this with a f150?
@@FreeWorld-cq3ux you want a smaller trailer but it’s a good side hustle
@@TheJonesFarm what size trailer can the f150 pull? Also how much weight inside without being over gross?
Excellent Video!
You can order trailer with remote from sure trac
Do the stabilizer jacks in the rear not reach the ground? Looks like you had to add some wood underneath. Researching buying one, so I am curious. Thanks for the info
I used to love tailgating my stones
Excellent. It had been a while since I made the swap. This was a perfect refresher. All the details. No BS about the history of string trimmers etc 😂
Love your videos on the 790 Tractor! Very clear & informative information. Thanks
NOTE: Just to clarify for those doing this - the adjustment nut and locknut are left handed threads. Thanks for the great video! I really like my 790.
What wireless remote you buy for that trailer?
I wired in a harbor freight remote
What do you charge per load? I just bought the same trailer coincidently. I’m in TX now so probably not a good comparison but just curious?
Sorry I just saw this. I charge about $185-$200 per load just depending on how far I have to go. I try to stay within a 15-20 mile radius of the gravel pit
Looks amazing!
Great content, video, and commentary! More please!
Thanks for helping me with my clutch adjustment.
Love the step by step process!
Watched, Liked, Commented, Subscribed, Shared, Watched again I enjoyed the commentary, step by step process! Great video!
Ours had a wirless remote
at $194 that sounds like a John Deere price.
Yeah no kidding lol
@@TheJonesFarm I had to pay 55 bucks just for the left/right hand bolt.
Nice video thinking about one with ac but imagine it’s pretty pricey
Did the person filming open the gate for you? And lift the box as needed?
The new ones have wireless remotes
My pedal went reel loose. Now I have no clutch. If you cut it off. It will shift in all gears.
Did you ever find the culprit? Is tractor clutch still in?
Great job! How many tons was that in the trailer?
Hi I have a Kombi strimmer attachment and I am wondering if I need to buy the attachment brushcutter whole unit or can I replace the head of the strimmer line to a brushcutter blade ? thanks
You have to buy the kit for the blade but it’s not very expensive
Nice.
That's bs it does not work
Nice shooting and editing. Instructions were very clear and informative.
Thanks!
Perfect, thanks for posting.
How big of a deal is it to remove the rear window. I have a backhoe on mine and the window would prohibit operation of the backhoe
Nice job! Does this mean more videos are coming?!?!? Enjoy your videos!
Thanks for Watching! More videos coming, I just need to find the time to edit them lol.
I have one too and it's great on lawn reno to aerate the soil and remove thatch
Bouncing down the road, those bricks will be everywhere but behind those tires.
MAN you do fine work. Very nice Looking at box blade shows how it works best. And you never forget to use the front blade.
Thank you! Once you figure out what you can do with it, it works great!
@@TheJonesFarm I once saw on a John Deere Grader, this from a mailer that came to my home. They built these neat pointed blades that swivel on mold board. This was for like County Road crew grading. The swivel blades take up POT holes as the Grader goes along a long stretch. It was an interesting idea, for many pot holes in say a mile or so of county Road that is maintenance. It really destroyed the POT holes. I think the idea came from a shop guy who worked for a County somewhere. JD marketed the idea. I have also seen in Canada where Logging Company maintains the road to a remote village on Vancouver Island. They pull a roller unit behind the Grader. Plus this is interesting. They use oils from tree's that are Logged to put down on Gravel roads. It acts like a chip seal oil mat. After grading. Harder stiffer road bed. NO pot holes. We drove 40 miles on one of these Logging Company maintenance Roads. It was without POT holes, and that's with big oversized Logging trucks users.
Thanks Brotha! Great video.. are you rocking a garmin instinct as well? Is it solar? Love to hear what you gotta say about it. I got a fenix 6 solar pro.. but I ding it A LOT!! Tx again!!
Yep....that was the stuff. My PTO kept grinding going into gear. That is a two stage clutch pedal on the 790. The first stage is for drive gear and the next detent is for the PTO. I had forgotten that safety feature.
Flower bed that grows rocks? I did this and I regret it now.
Well, talk about coincidence's, I just did my '97 JD 770 today. My clutch spring broke a few weeks ago and I thought I adjusted it then but It just wasn't right and had to do it again. Don't see many video's on our style tractors, good job.
Glad it helped! thanks for watching!
That looks horrible
Shoveling that stone didn’t look fun at all!!! Lol. It looks great!
Sir I live here in Texas ( BOERNE) Primarily I mow yards . I just got my 14 f big Tex !! Can you give me a little bit of a advice how I can make money with my new trailer? I’m using my f150 😌 5.0 v8 I think I can pull about 8000 pounds!
Awesome! I would check to see what your local landscape yard has in stock for various bulk materials, then start advertising on Facebook marketplace, CL and other forms of social media. You could also let all your lawn care customers know that you stock and supply various landscaping materials. Check to see what the landscape yards charge for driver then set your prices from there. I charge about 30% more for delivery than my local landscape shop and get calls constantly. Hope this help!
A time will likely come when they will wish they didn't have those rocks.
That’s exactly where I am currently!
Same thing happened on mine. Broke first time I opened that flap...
What size Allen?
I am not sure off the top of my head
That's a hard work! Thanks for explaining everything in detail! I am a new home-owner with a super low budget, so we have to do everything on our own, but this video really puts in perspective where the total price from contractors is coming from.
Nice. Is their a part 2?
What do you do if you strip the top plug?
Great question, contact your dealer and see if they can help. Or you may have to re tap the threads
No none sense video, appreciate it. When putting the new gravel layer down do you keep the box blade off of the ground a bit so you are not digging in more?
