1. Admiration for Knowledge and Skills: People often appreciate someone for their expertise, intelligence, or talents. In your case, someone might admire your knowledge or ability to engage in meaningful conversations. 2. Emotional Connection: People tend to like those they can relate to emotionally. If you are empathetic, supportive, or share personal experiences that resonate with others, this can create a strong bond. 3. Shared Interests or Values: Common interests, hobbies, or life philosophies can bring people closer together. When you share similar passions, it can lead to natural friendships or admiration.
What do you do if the person is aggressively hostile? For example, they grab your throat with their hand and insult you calling you a pimple-faced loser and freak? What do you do then?
This behavior is characteristic of kind-hearted individuals. Those who regularly apply these tips are likely to become considerate and pleasant people. Great video Alice, you'll go far with these videos. Thanks for sharing.
glad you decided to have a you tube channel. i see more now how your environment can enhace your opportunities for learning about people in general but especially when it comes to social skills. being from the south where we talk slower and in most places less populated has had an effect on my social progression and thanks to people like you i can have the best of both worlds
Tony, I have many friends in the South. They talk slower and are well well-mannered. It's so nice to learn from one another. It opens up our world and widens our perspective.
Do you find small talk challenging? Check out this video to learn how to make small talk feel effortless and natural!

i appreciate how you deliver youre information. i am a n introvert altough i feel ive been decent with small talk and always looking for ways to improve. I do want to learn more about how to be above average in communiction skills so im looking forward to learnig aboutsome of youre other videos
@@tonydenney9003 thank you , Tony. My brother is an introvert. So I think about how he communicates. He hates small talk . I’m an extrovert and hate it too as I feel it’s so impersonal . I challenged myself with this video to try to find value in small talk.
I just discover your channel. I really enjoy the content and your style. You are absolutely lovely Alice. Best Xav
Thanks Xav, what resonated with you ?
Nice video. Thanks.
ok when you share advice like this your channel will grow well.
Hey, your video is amazing! But I feel the thumbnail and editing could use a little more polish to match the quality of your content. Improving them would make your videos even more engaging. Keep up the great work!❤

Great now you will be in friend zone just like me 😂
But what if one is not used to compliments? Anytime I receive a compliment, I automatically start thinking, "Uh oh, here comes the catch". 🙂
@@djs12007 that’s so great that you observed it. I sometimes feel the same … like “why is this person saying it, what does she or he want?” But honestly … sometimes people are inspired by what you say or do or behave and they want to say “that’s cool… that’s awesome… thanks for bringing this to my life.” And they genuinely want to thank you . So, let them !
I agree with all of those! I use them pretty much always! And can tell you that it definitely works :) literally just used all 5 with a person I have just met!
@@AnaLeiman great timing! Some things in life are a lot simpler than we think .
My live experience and observation suggest that rule 1 is not true. If someone lean towards us and we will end up mirroring that person, then more often than not we create very close distance between our heads. And that will lead to other person leaning back in response. That's the reality. Also ad 2) I do not believe that most MALE humans would share experience that you (as a female) may have in that area. Most man would be considered "creepy" by simply being kind and showing appreciation. Or by giving other people complements. thats again brutal reality
Rule 1 is totally true. It’s what I do and it works. If they move away from you that’s a response that you need to take into consideration.
@@coach-piotr great insights. Thank you for sharing !
@@dimex3362 absolutely . Thank you for your input.
It's become that way - males are creepy!
*Compliment (praise, appreciation), since "complement" is something that goes along with something else and fits it... otherwise, enjoying the video!

@GetByMakeItWithAlice that means so much to me. You have no idea. I will sit with these words for a while and treasure them. Bless your wonderful heart too. I am happy that you are sharing your light with the world. It seems like you've worked very, very hard and consistently to nurture your remarkable mindset.
Been loving each of your vids! I always listen when they come out. They really calm me down and get me out of my head a bit.
I am glad they help you. I try to see what is around me, observe, reflect, and post. What should I mention next?
@@GetByMakeItWithAlice I can sense that you make an effort to be mindful and practice critical thinking - such crucial skills right now! And well, to be brutally honest, a concern I've had on my mind recently is the number of people who are withdrawing from society because they don't feel they're being rewarded or compensated fairly for the amount of effort they have to put in to make a living and find fulfillment. So they isolate to escape reality. I watched a video recently about this and I felt very seen as someone with a bachelor's degree who is struggling to find the desire and energy to try and make it in the system. That said, I find most meaning in just simple interactions with individual people. This has been my thought process so far. If that brings up anything for you, I'd be interested to hear!
@@lizardman6515 I FEEL FOR YOU and for others. It is extremely frustrating to try, and try, and try, and just not feel valued. You may have skills, and efforts, and a support system, but you also need luck. My philosophy is that you have to love your work, or what you do, day to day, despite the outcome...then you never withdraw. So, if you will put all this effort in, then you might as well do what you love.
@@GetByMakeItWithAlice this makes a LOT of sense - when you mentioned luck, it reminded me of something I heard. Someone was saying that if you just keep pursuing what's important to you, eventually the right factors will fall into place and things will start working out. It makes a lot of sense to focus on what's enjoyable - when life is already so crazy, may as well, right?? I really agree with that! Thank you for taking the time to respond ❤️ I really appreciate you!!
Hi friends! What phrases surprise you?
Hi friends, how do you ask people for help?
How do you get interested in what the person has to say? I am curious....
Hi friends! What soft skills do you highlight?
Hi friends! How do you use ChatGPT?
Hi Friends! What do you need help with now ?
This is single-handedly the most important thing that any one of us could be looking for. Happiness needs to be the goal. Not money, not followers or that perfect job/house/life. Happiness. Your words are far more valuable than the view-count Alice, keep it coming. This is ultra-important information!
@@StanleyOrchard thanks Stanley . The only check boxes we should be hitting are : are we becoming better humans ?
Great insights, Alice! Shifting from unmet expectations to understanding obstacles really hit home for me. It’s such a positive approach for both work and personal life. Letting go of rigid expectations definitely opens up more room for happiness. Looking forward to the next episode! 🙌😊
How do you understand your value?
Awesome video, Alice! Loved the examples of direct vs. indirect communication. Clear communication really does build trust and save time.
My brother studies communications (conflict studies) and he taught me about the 5 modes for handling conflict. Recently, I was reviewing that diagram, because in my friendships, I'm learning to be more authentic so that I can offer my best self to those relationships. I'm a people pleaser, partially by nature and partially due to conditioning from unhealthy relationships, so cooperation comes easy to me, but assertiveness does not. Long story short, this gives me some good tips on how to be more assertive (communicate my needs), so that my friendships can keep becoming more collaborative instead of accommodating on my end. These are wonderful tips to help me as I learn how to communicate directly. Thanks Alice! I can tell that you value this a lot ❤️
Lizardman, thank you for sharing . I loved studying conflict resolution and negotiations . It opened up my perspective on how to resolve conflicts without creating a lot of emotional damage. If you are direct and authentic from the beginning of any relationship , then everything becomes easier . Life becomes easier . I am also a people pleaser, so I had to learn how to be assertive . Being assertive can be seen as negative but it’s actually empowering. I’m curious, can you share the 5 modes ?
@@GetByMakeItWithAlice "how to resolve conflicts without creating a lot of emotional damage" is so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️🤗it seems so important to you ❤️ it's so very important to me. I love the word 'empowering' too. I'm seeking to create a more empowered version of myself to offer to those people and causes that mean the world to me. The 5 modes of conflict management fall at different spots on a 2-axis continuum, with the y-axis being 'assertiveness', or one's own needs/agenda, and the x-axis being 'cooperativeness', or others' needs/mutual relationships. Depending on how much prioritization two people in a conflict give to each of these axes will determine how a conflict is resolved (or unresolved!). Seeing a picture may be more useful for understanding it - can I use your email in the description to send you an image of it?

Great video, Alice! 🌟 Your tips on finding common interests and asking open-ended questions are super helpful for building meaningful connections. Can't wait for your next episode on building relationships with strangers! 😊
I can not stress enough the importance of following these tips. For a plethora of reasons it is excruciatingly important to make the person you are communicating with feel heard and valuable. Whether it be romantically, with your spouse after a hard days work or in business dealings with clients or staff there is not a single thing you can do that will better improve the amount of information that you are trying to convey than by showing genuine interest in them.
Stanley, from day one, you’ve shown genuine interest and support in my ideas and vision, always ready to lend an ear. I’m so grateful that your channel serves as a valuable resource for fellow RUclipsrs.

Great insights! I love how you frame procrastination as energy conservation and a tool for creativity. The idea of assigning value to tasks and rewarding yourself is super helpful. Thanks for making procrastination feel less like a flaw and more like a natural part of the process!
I hate how we are shamed for everything and I love how we can turn every negative or perceived negative to a positive :)
Ooooh... i like having a physical list to check things off. I didnt think to assign a value to the task, that's excellent advice! Loving it Alice!
Yes, it’s a great hack and it works !
Echolalia can be quite irritating.
@@ricksevans I had to look up that word!
I learned how to stop reacting and thinking what that person is saying and what they're feeling. But I had to couple active listening with a bit of emotional maturity so I don't feel "attacked" or "judged" and be able to just listen instead of quickly defend or react.
This is very insightful, because if we "think" what the person is saying, we have a harder time in comprehension. I struggled with judgment for a long time when I judged the other, and felt judged. Thanks for sharing!
