I’m right around 8k and I’d say I only see beasts being played by one person max and they usually have to hit it early to get top 4 or higher. I feel like comps I see a lot of are like locprince, ultraviolet, charging czarina, and anything with brann

Beasts are very mid game and can pull off end game with an extreme high role. The longer the games go on the more other builds will outshine beast.

beasts/undead aren't awful at around 5-6k but its just annoying because half the lobby goes for it and every fight takes forever

Even in the 6.5-7k range that I'm in, I rarely ever see beast in top 4. They just don't scale fast enough. At significantly higher MMR I imagine you really can't go beast unless you hit the absolute shit out of it, and most of the time even that just mean 2nd place at best against Ele or Mech.

Semi-serious question: Around 4:15, turn 6- you had a 4/12 Sea Glass with a 'Defender's Rites' in the tavern (+8/+8 and Taunt on a minion) Would that not have made for some SERIOUS tempo to carry you through the next few rounds?

The whole conversation about different styles of playing the game can, I think, be boiled down to a simple message: Shady enjoys playing 2, sometimes 3 different games- during the same game. Other people.. not so much.

Man, I hit 5k MMR from watching and applying what I learned from your videos and as soon as I hit that plateau, all of the RNG left me and went to my opponents. I was in a game where 5 people went Elemental, and somehow all of them had viable powerful boards when I chose mechs. I think I'll not be letting my MMR get too high next reset.

Almost 8k elo. I have still yet to pull a turbo hog, nor have I had a game where it let me play quills it just refuses to let me play quils.

The only thing I don't see in the lower ranks is mechs, dragons, or naga.

As a somewhat lower elo player (6-7k) I'd say my only problem with beast or undead right now is when someone really early highrolls that one undead 6 drop that gives you minions and summons them. Not only is it tempo but it's also money to let them use that advantage to get even more of an advantage. I know highrolls happen with every build but a Kaly isn't going to be giving you money (or tempo really at that). I'd say other big "problem" card in this sense is brann and I think everyone would agree on that. Not only does brann give you money but it can also provide tempo with double the stats from certain battlecry cards which again both can leverage you into a better late game position. Out of the two I imagine most people would agree that brann is more egregious. At the same time I agree with (I believe it was shady who said this) that you shouldn't balance the fun out of the game. I wouldn't remove brann but maybe make it a 6 drop or balance battlecry minions around it better. I'm not sure I'm not a game designer. I just think they both have the same "problem".

I feel like my problem with beasts and undead is not whether they're strong or not, I simply find them lazy and boring both to play and play against. Even if no one in an undead beast lobby played neither of the two I would still be annoyed at their existence for diluting the card pool with cards I'm completely uninterested in.
