    oh they give you the old pizza tray. What is difference between it and say a pizza stone I've heard about with another oven? I hated this pizza tray as it gets marked up quick, no matter how careful you are. Which brings me to my main complaint that I'm wondering if its improved any. Clean up. The old oven took me upwards of 30-45 mins to scrub clean. It splatters everywhere in the cavity. The way old oven is the coils on top, are impossible to clean as you gotta take a paper towel and thread it though like a piece of dental floss to even get it 50% clean. Then after 30 mins of wiping like crazy inside . You gotta use stainless steel cleaner for up to 5 mins on outside. It does stain pretty bad both inside and out. One of few reasons I'm thinking of buying this oven. But my other concern is both CR, and other vids on here. Say it downright sucks as an air fryer, whats truth here? Is the fan really that poor, that only the top shelf does a fair job at crisping? and does it take forever? I found the top 3 ovens all are kinda mediocre there. With exception of this newer one with app, that is never in stock anywhere. I hear maybe discontinued due to no updated app support. And do you know much about the Joule oven? It seems this might rate better based on CR .

    • @FloralApronBlog
      @FloralApronBlog 10 дней назад

      Like I say in the video, the included pizza tray isn't that great, and you will get much better pizza if you purchase a pizza stone instead. I wouldn't recommend cutting on either the tray or the stone. This is the first oven I've had from Breville, so I can't comment on differences in cleanup between this one and an old version. I use mine mostly for baking, and cleanup isn't bad for me; you can see that at the end of the video. If you regularly air fry greasy foods, then cleanup is going to be more intensive. I don't own an air fryer, so I can't compare the two exactly, but any food I've put in on the air fry setting at any level has turned crispy. In fact, I usually just use the convection setting rather than the air fry setting because it still turns things crispy without the added noise. It does take a little longer than a regular air fryer, but that's just physics: A larger space takes longer to heat up. My understanding is that the Joule and the Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro are basically the same product-it's just that one can be controlled in the app on your phone. The interior size and settings are the same. Hope that helps!

    • @MusikLover8
      @MusikLover8 10 дней назад

      @@FloralApronBlog hi thx. why is joule a different color and $100 more than this then? as for my oven, since you never owned the original. I basically use it for top level to broil things. Except if they don't fit. because convection is rather poor on bottom or middle level. On top it smokes, steams. but convection or any brown is bad on any other level. I see the element is still on top so it must be a bitch ot clean. Seems Breville couldn't learn to make that better. Sad. I love mine for its long lasting reliability, and you cook like a restaurant chef as long as you time it correctly. I've made the best steaks I've ever had in my life at home. With zero experience. Its all about timing, is still case or are there sensors that help there?

    • @FloralApronBlog
      @FloralApronBlog 10 дней назад

      I think you'd be able to get a more thorough answer comparing the two on Breville's website. The Joule comes with the app and slightly different tech to allow you to run different functions back-to-back, which I think just prevents you from having to get up and manually rotate the dial yourself. I haven't had to clean the upper elements, but any residue that gets on the bottom elements disappears in a couple sessions. I'd assume the same happens with the top elements if you're not actively adding residue to them during a bake. I'm not 100% clear if the Joule has sensors that tell you when food is done or if you just rely on the 13 presets (maybe more with combos in the app?), but the Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro definitely doesn't have sensors like that. Both have sensors to keep the oven temp even throughout the bake, though.

  • @MusikLover8
    @MusikLover8 10 дней назад

    With dehydration. I have the original oven for 10 yrs. It doesn't have that function. is it a space issue between the crumb tray and oven, or is it the design of the newer tray? If so I'd keep my old tray. I've had condensation. But the old oven is air locked tight. Zero ever dripped from it. Always on the tray.

    • @FloralApronBlog
      @FloralApronBlog 10 дней назад

      My oven drips from condensation even on the toast setting, so I would say it's part of the design of the crumb tray in conjunction with how water vapor gathers and then runs off the oven door.

      @@FloralApronBlog oh wow. that doesn't sound like improving at all. it almost sounds like I shouldn't get another Breville. I think CR still stands by my oven as the best its ever rated. I saw ratings recently. Mine was an 87. The best today is only 74.

    Have been mulling the idea of purchasing a food processor for some time now and have zeroed in on the custom 14. America's test Kitchen did a product testing of many food processors and their most highly recommended was the custom 14. They use it virtually every time when making dough of any kind and this is what we're interested in doing too. Have you tried using your processor to make dough for bread, pies, pizza, etc etc ? If so, what do you think ?

    • @FloralApronBlog

      I just started testing dough in it last week, and my shortcrust pastry came out great! I haven't tested it for pizza or bread dough yet, but that is on my list of things to try in the next couple weeks before I film my full review. I have a hard time imagining the blade forms gluten better/the same as a dough hook in a stand mixer, but I still want to test it because I trust ATK!

    The part at the bottom is that cleanable? The two silver ones

    • @FloralApronBlog
      @FloralApronBlog Месяц назад

      The heating elements themselves are not (any residue burns off in a couple cycles anyway). The metal guards are cleanable, but they're tricky to really scrub without hitting the quartz elements. And the only way to really get the residue off those is by scrubbing (of course lol), so I just leave it for the most part. It tends to burn off after a few bakes, but it takes longer than the quartz heating elements themselves. Those metal pieces only get dirty if oil drips down onto them (in my experience, at least), so I try to keep the roasting pan in between them and the air fry basket when I use it, and that has helped somewhat. The manual says not to use soap on the elements but does not specify if that also applies to the metal protectors.

    I have watched many video's on candied lemons and oranges and tried a few and must say with the long cooking nearly an hour the middle of my lemons disintegrated and I was very disappointed. I'm definitely going to try your method. Another lady left her sliced lemons in water in the fridge overnight, and then blanched them the next day and then in the sugar syrup. I am also wondering if you can use the same syrup for your next batch

    • @FloralApronBlog
      @FloralApronBlog Месяц назад

      Oh, very interesting! I'm not sure exactly what leaving the slices in the water overnight does, short of giving you infused citrus water. I suppose it could remove some of the bitterness, but I think you would still need to blanch them to remove all of it... I could be wrong, though! If you make another batch within 1-2 weeks, I think you'd be able to reuse the syrup (if you stored it in the fridge between uses)! If you try either one of those, I'd love to know how they work for you! Thanks for watching 💛
