Are Anti-Heroes the Future of the Superhero Genre?

Superhero movies are now crap, anti-hero movies are also kinda crap. Let's face it, movies in general are pretty crap these days. But can anti-hero films become less crap than the recent super crap we've been getting? The Rise of Lofi Hip-Hop | A Samurai Champloo & Nujabes Retrospective
Amazing Video! Nothing is more nobler than self-sacrifice.
I like to watch popular shows way after the hype has already died, because it feels so much more organic and genuine. Not having the expectations and not riding the hype train. That being said, I had never even heard anything about this show before I saw it. I literally finished the last episode a minute ago, so it's all very fresh. Such an unexpectedly beautiful series, and it made me feel things I haven't felt in a while from watching a show. I have some more processing to do before I can elaborate much beyond this.
Steven Yeun is excellent in everything he's in. Minari, Beef, Burning, and Nope are all excellent media and he's fantastic in all of them. Talented and charismatic with a ton of range. Huge fan of him
Mugen to me doesn’t feel like Lofi Jin definitely does Mugen is more of the hip hop aspects he’s more boom bap New York style to me and Jin is more like a calm style like Cypress hill and my west coast rappers
Akira is so simple. i dont know why so many people have a hard time understanding it. Stop trying to put concepts and themes on shelves, just watch it for what it is. In the same vein as Ghost in the Shell the movie actually tells you LITTERALLY what its about. Human evolution. Man made accelerated evolution from a biological perspective. yes, it goes way beyond just that but that is its basis. man becoming god. And science tapping trying to tap into
May be show dark sides of existing superheroes and make them real instead of perfect.
Joker is a masterpiece. i love this video btw.
thanks dude, since you enjoyed the vid I'll agree with you too ;)
I think it may be because I see recently that so many people make comments saying how they think it’s boring or stupid how some hero doesn’t kill and has all those moral codes. I personally don’t feel that way but there are a lot of people who do which means they’d like anti-heroes as anti-heroes protect people but they also cross limits
Tbh just from the title alone should be no they should not follow a trend and run it dry like everything else
No, antiheroes are not future of superhero genre. Quality filmmaking is. All those failed hero movies/shows were made by talentless activist hacks, that, as per usual, came for "their" share of fame and fortune, generated by previous 10 years of very successful MCU, that was created by actually talented people with good work ethics. But such success inevitably attracts leftist parasites, who then inject their shit into successful industry and run it into the ground. And of course audiences universally reject their garbage. Talented people move to the next thing, build it up and vultures start circling now this medium, as by then they destroyed last one and look for something new, popular and successful, to take over and inject their politics into. Common variable is not heroes, antiheroes or villain, but parasites that get attracted by success and try to take over, destroying formerly extremely successful genres and franchises. Common variable is quality of writing, directing and general filmmaking. Once something gets successful and big, activists crawl out of their holes and try to infiltrate it, leading to inevitable downfall. Antihero movies are doing good now, simply because parasites have already laid their eye on this niche, but havent moved in yet. With Joker 2 seemingly being first crack.
Joker's an anti-hero? Really? Lol.
It’s because whenever there’s a movie about the character, that comic villain is then the “protagonist” so the writers probably then try to make them for heroic as protagonists are meant to be heroes generally. That’s the same case for venom and morbius in marvel though Joker literally cannot be a hero so Idk how he is anti-hero but still
@BRB-ck3jr no I totally understand. I guess there're different kinds of anti-heroes then. For instance the punisher only kills the guilty. Deadpool mostly kills the guilty, the traditional joker just kills, whether innocent or not
Nice video, it really gives the viewer food for thought. I also started getting more interested in Antihero movies while growing up. That is because the protagonists are approached in a more human way and their character, as a result, has more depth. I used to think that Superman and other similar heroes were boring. I would agree with you that the Antihero trend is a very popular nowadays and it seems to be the direction that studios are going to take in the next few years. I feel the need to note though that 1 month ago, I watched JoJo's Bizzare Adventure Parts 4-5 and it made me crave for more classic styled Super Hero movies. As I was watching JoJo's parts I always expected the characters to get more complex in every part and have better character development but that was until I realised that JoJo isn't about complexity and character depth. The characters are embodiments of virtuousness and bravery, kindness and resolve but the villains are evil and wicked, they portray the bad aspects of humanity without ever being given a crazy backstory or a realistic motivation behind them. It's very simple and that's what makes it very enjoyable. It's good fighting evil. It might sound strange but to me this was very refreshing. Nowadays every character needs more details added to them to make them more relatable and approachable by the viewers. Batman always had this sadness hidden within from the death of his parents but recent Batman movies focus a lot more on his trauma and less on his heroic values. I suppose that the same could be said for most new Super Hero movies out there...
thanks man :) jojo is brilliant! I loved 'The Batman' and definitely agree that they focused more on his trauma in that movie, but I'll give it a pass because its supposed to be a young novice Bruce. Hopefully in the sequel they bring more of his staunch heroism into play.
It was a very decent show. The inescapable tunbling down into the bottomless downward spiral of destruction was not only inescapable for the carracters but also very captivating drama for me too.
Great video! Great Show!
thanks pal :)
It's definitely one of them
Nice video! I watched Goodfellas for the first time, last year in the cinema and it was so captivating right from the beginning. Your description was very spot on. Scorceses films are so good at portraying these flawed characters in a way that the movie doesn't condemn them, but instead it is up to the viewer to come to the conclusion that they are pieces of shit by watching their actions. When it comes to fire openings, a few things come in mind. First, I gotta give it to A Clockwork Orange. The shot where the camera slowly moves away from the mischievous faces of the gang while this eerie music is playing is so good and prepares you for what you are about to see next. Then, it's not exactly a movie but a show. The first episode of Samurai Champloo is really something else. I don't think I've ever been so excited and hyped from a first episode ever. The cool hip hop music, the transitions between Jin and Mugen whith the vinyl scratches. Then the fight in the shop. The execution scene and the fireworks.... Damn!!! Now that's how you make a first episode. Lastly, I just yesterday watched Blade for the first time and I gotta say... That opening sequence with the vampires in the club and the blood raining from the ceiling, and the reveal of Blade and the fight sequence... Very cool! Once again, awesome video, very concise, very on point. Really enjoyed!
samurai champloo is the goat!!!! Thanks again for the kind words junba. Shameless plug, but it seems relevant. From one champloo fan to another, I've got a vid on samurai champloo and nujabes if u feel keen to check it out, no pressure ofc ;)
@@Hashimoto101 No need to advertise your Samurai Champloo video to me because well... I've already watched it. And I even left a comment explaining why I loved it and why it was very special to me. AMEN BABY
Man, what a great video. I always adored Sandman in this movie. Nailed it!
Glad you enjoyed it pal :)

great video mate
Thanks 👍
I loved this movie. It had some utterly idiotic moments, but overall it was a good movie.
Netflix doesn't deserve a show like this, but atleast it's out there.
Phenomenal job on this video man 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
appreciate it my dude
It's impossible to digest
When I was watching this movie, my mind was telling me that this is a plagiarism of the 2018 Tamil film called 96.
The x-men 97 haters are just as bad as the mutant haters. No doubt that they will continue to hate x-men 97 in season 2 and 3 etc.
💜💙💜
Nice video and fun editing!
Thanks!
Hey bro, excellent video :) keep up the good work 🔥🔥🔥
thanks for the love, I'll do my best!
X-Men 97 underused Wolverine
Everyone else overuses Wolverine, that was to compensate
It’s called “X-men” not “Wolverine men”
To quote Jonathan Hickman the x-men are about finding the family that you never knew had one that accept you for who you are that loved you at your best and worst who shared your dream on what the world can be
i saw akira in highschool in the 90s and was so into it but didn't really understand it. after reading the manga so much more of it made sense and i love both pieces so much. really wish some of his older works would get a translation besides just domu. domu is also sick, tho :D great vid and great music!
Bullet train was good flick. Have not watched The Fall Guy yet.
Havent seen Fall Guy, it is on 2watch list, but absolutely loved Bullet Train.
People bitching about the use of AI as if it plays a crucial part in its production rather than just three fucking still images. Give me a break.
You deserve more views.
you are my best view 😘
I love this movie!🎃 New subscriber!🧡
Thanks for subbing!
It was going great until the robot demon via cheap sfx made an appearance
That was the point, this isn't meant to be a horror flick with a $30 million dollar budget, but a recall to older 1970s/80s low budget horror flicks
Unfortunately, it doesn’t deserve more attention, and that is singularly the fault of any individual who was complicit in the use of ai, ai which very specifically stole from real, actively working artists and their craft. May this movie be a lesson to all creators- ai (laziness and theft) will ruin your entire project, regardless of the merits of the rest of the project.
I'm sure your cranky rambling means something, but since you seem reluctant to reveal the source of your upsettery, who cares? Explain your whining if you're going to whine.
@@Teelirious I love how entitled you are and expect that to be indulged. It’s truly so adorable. You made my day, thank you!
@@Usernotfound31231 asking to elaborate further on your opinion is "entitled" now?
@@onionbubs386 After you start by insulting somebody, absolutely. You were not the target of the derision, so you did not register that it’s hilarious to demand indulgence when your inquiry is prefaced by insult.
@@Usernotfound31231 you say that like your comment wasn't already super patronizing and condescending to people who liked the movie, not to mention masturbatory on your end
Apparently the AI art was added after the film completed its festival run, prior to it getting general release. It does make me question why they bothered, if they didn't need those images initially, why did they think they needed them later on?
This movie sucked. Was so excited for it but was terribly disappointed. It was more camp than horror.
Nothing like anything else great movie
Definitely not a good movie, it's boring and has such an anti climactic ending. Thought it was building up to something amazing but at the end all I thought was, "Wow I can't believe I just wasted my time".
Loved this movie! I agree about the AI stuff for the most part. A tiny indie movie with a small budget is not the target to go after, especially considering that it was made before that conversation got to the level it did. People rate bombing the movie is not the flex that they think it is. I don’t think they should have used AI, and moving forward I hope this serves as a warning, but let’s not act like half the movie is AI generated imaging.
your note about the new joker trailer being bad. i agree and its so crazy because the trailer for the first joker movie was probably the best trailer I've ever seen. it was a major disappointment seeing the one for the sequal
It’s very meh
Saw it a couple days ago it was decent
no it doesn't lmao it used a bunch of A.I generated images, this type of "art" doesn't need to be supported. we should supported real art made by humans.
3 still images is a bunch?
@@Hashimoto101 as soon as every “artist” gives up n starts to use ai the world will succumb into it and the world will become lazier than ever , human laziness will be the lead to destruction
@@Zoara0110 u are a crybaby, humans have been making new tools to make things easy since the damn wheel
@@Zoara0110 It's not even about laziness, it's about human artists losing their jobs and getting replaced by AI because it's cheaper. It's about greed, plain and simple.
@@Ravuun it is basic human laziness , billionaires have the power to end world hunger all together but they don’t wanna do it , why? Because they’re lazy and comfortable with exploiting serfs that earns them generational wealth
