hello, I have a chr 2019 hybrid, do brake oils, antifreeze, etc. also fit hybrids?
How many quarts did you use??
You're awesome!!
Thanks for this video a lot help with the wiper blades
Thank you! I love the step by step. It makes it so easy for me to replace it. Especially the rear windshield wiper.
Very good explanation honestly 10/10 thank you
You’re an absolute life saver !!!
Anyone know what the recommended mileage is for CHR 2021? There is no dipstick.
@@andylopez6393 Hi my 2021 CHR has 170,000 miles. Running great.. For this CVT transmission you need to replace fluid every 30,000 miles. 30,000 miles fluid only 60,000 miles fluid and filter 90,000 miles fluid only 120,000 miles fluid and filter 150,000 miles fluid only 180,000 miles fluid and filter 220,000 miles fluid only 250,000 miles fluid and filter 280,000 miles fluid 310,000 miles 😁 i will be heading to the dealer to get anotherone. My car is a daily worker , i drive it everyday 100 miles and more. So this is the maintenance i put on it and its working great.
@@andylopez6393 There is no dipstick so pay attention when doing this job. Its easy just take your time
Y los pares de apriete? 😂😂😂
I did it and I'm a woman 👠 thank you 💕
@@Jalissaprayppl Great Job
Great vid! Excuse me I have a CHR 2020 I am the only owner. My question is do you believe it is too late to change the transmission filter and transmission oil if it is currently sitting at 85,000 miles?
I’m at 41000 miles, so I’m going to use this video & have my uncle change it with me. Thank you bro, very much appreciated
Does coolant work as water?
Nice And clean job you did thank you for sharing what size hose did you use thank you
Hello, Great presentation. What did you say about the torq wrench settings for the Pan Bolts? Thank you.
is that a Toyota c-hr hybrid or non hybrid ?
is it just me or is that fluid concerningly brown for 30k miles? especially considering Toyota calls it a "life of the car" fluid. No wonder the failure rate is so high on these
@@paullandon3942 I always try to change my oils even if the dealer says no. They don't care about our cars.
Awesome ty
Today I went to change transmission fluid my chr 2019 but the guy said it could damage your transmission changing the fluid and I didn't change it
If you use the wrong transmission oil yeah. You can't use the same oil forever for your transmission. It needs to be changed eventually
Love how precise and detailed you are darn great mechanic! Thank you for sharing now I feel confident to try this the first time and save a ton of money!
For all of the folks out there that have purchased universal wipers and are pissed off because they dont match: you can also replace a gum and it works ! Toyota can suck our balls. Thanks for the great content !!
Am I correct in assuming this is a PARTIAL flush and not a FULL flush ? Great video by the way. But I gotta tell ya , I’m never getting a CVT again. Plan on selling this and getting a used RAV4 with the standard transmission. Way easier to maintain.
does this also work for chr 2018?
I bought a pair of Michelin Guardian from Costco. It’s suppose to be universal but the clip is too long.
Would u show us how to do a coolant flush.....
Good reminder.. I'm going to do it the lazy way lol.. basically I will take it out from the reservoir and refill and repeat that till I put all the gallon of coolant during a week period. I'll try to record this
Here is the manual on how to do it in case you want to start reading about it. Good info.. www.tochr.net/188/replacement.html
Where is the radiator cap in the C-HR?
Doesn't have one for my model. All coolant goes inside the reservoir... 🤔 Maybe this can help identifying parts. www.tochr.net/188/replacement.html
Thank you for showing me the manual. appears confirming the plastic reserve tank is the only inlet for coolant refill. Many thanks again.
Best video on this, thank you sir your the man.
Yeah, the pressurized cap is the #1 source for a coolant leak. Toyota coolant turns acidic after 60k miles or two years. And will slowly eat any and all rubber and your radiator. Change your coolant and cap every two years.
Good info to know thank you
@@CHR... I learned this accidentally. My Toyota tech explained all of this to me after I installed an all-aluminum radiator on my Tacoma. He said the pink stuff won't eat through an aluminum one.
Absolute informative!!! I wish all mechanics use the "X" pattern when they tight screws and bolts but they usually don't!! I have a torque key but used it just once. It's the feeling you get from the screw/bolt as you said!!!
Thank you for sharing and taking your time to have a discussion and to give us advice.. This job is for a 2021 CHR basic model. No turbo. No hybrid.
Hi there. Just seen that you filled up with CVT FE fluid (purple can) as this is for the 1.2 turbo model CVT gearbox. For e-CVT 1.8 and 2.0 Hybrids, the correct oil is the first oil can you have!! The RED one. It's the WS AT fluid!!! Check again with your dealer and be specific of what model you have. Hybrids require the e-CVT fluid (red can) while 1.2 turbo NON hybrids require the CVT FE fluid (purple can)!!! You have 2 4ltr cans there in the video, different specs for different transmissions. EDIT. Seen in your Part 2 video that it's a 1.2ltr turbo you have and that the RED can is CVT FE as well. Nice job. Didn't know they have two coloured cans...
When talking about the cans. Both cans have the same part number . This is what the dealer uses. The red can says CVT Fluid FE.. The purple can says CVT Fluid FE. Both cans say 08886-02505.. None of this cans are for automatic transmissions.. This is a fact.
I don't know about the turbos or hydrids . This video is for a 2021 CHR CVT the basic model
My car doesn't have a turbo.
If you go to my video part 2 ruclips.net/video/ouHu3oun_Cs/видео.htmlsi=GGw66lLGzmmHkkk3 Minute 34:45 You will see exactly what am talking about when comparing the cans.. On part 3 what I notice is that the picture I put is not clear. Go to part 2 minute 34:45 and you will get a clear view of the cans I'm using.
Iv got a crunch over the bumps from the drivers side.
I had to replace Both front bearings on my CHR. The first one right passenger side went out at 70,000 miles.. I remember I hit a hole once so am guessing that could have been the reason of going off balance.. At 100,000 miles the driver side bearing started doing the same, so I replaced it... The roads I rode on are a little tough 50/50 50 bad 50 good.. But it was easy to do... I do hear on my driver side a small crunchy sound when going slow. But I only hear it when it's quiet at 1am and going slow open window.. I can hear it with more detailed when passing by a drive-through restaurant.. I also pass by behind a mall or a shopping center so the sound will bounce back and I can hear it with more detail... I'm thinking one of my bearings in the CV joint might be going weak... I made a video but I'm still making time to edit it..
I also replaced the lower balljoint.. It went out at 60,000miles.. Depending on how old is the car I'll say after 3 years of continuous use checking struts will be good.. Just sharing my plan.
@CHR... Hi Mine is a July 2017 car and has done 48000 miles and only has that crunch. Iv had them sprayed with wd40 and it went away. The Dealer couldn't find any faults with it.
@topboyuk where are they spraying it on? On what part? WD40 clears up the rust and makes it smoother but it also dries up the bearing. If you can't put grease on it, I would spray with wd40 to clean and lubricate with a motorcycle chain lubricant for temporary fix.
@@CHR... just the suspension parts.

Thanks !!!!
I have a 2019 chr I inquired at the toyota dealership about transmission being serviced and I was told toyota recommends doing nothing to the transmission
Not good.... no car will run with the same oil for a long time... Personally, this maintenance I do to my car is to make it last 300k and more.. Maybe they assume we are only going to ride the car 10,000 miles a year for 10 years.. I put 65,000 miles a year in my CHR so I must replace the oil..
youtube.com/@TheCarCareNut?si=cC0-GcyloTd_cS2e This video channel I'm sharing is from a Master Toyota Mechanic in case you want to see his videos. He teaches good stuff

90.000 miles or how many years.?
Oil changes for CHR CVT transmission is 30,000 oil only 60,000 oil and filter 90,000 oil only 120,000 oil and filter 150,000 oil only 180,000 oil and filter 210,000 oil 240,000 oil and filter 270,000 oil 300,000 oil and filter Keep going every 30,000 miles. In years If my car was resting for 2 years and I've only put during that time 25,000 miles.. I would still change the transmission oil every 2 years. My CHR bought in 2021 August until now Nov 2023 Daily driving . Right now it has 120,401.. I recently did the transmission oil change and this car loves new oil.
Yes, I will follow this. My only concern is 30k miles was about two years ago. My 2018 XLE has just under 45k miles on it. Wonder If the filter should be changed sooner due to age?
@@stevenv2190 I would change it..
@@CHR... transmission still going strong? I have seen horror stories online with how bad this transmission is
why wont shops replace the filter?
I'm thinking.. They dont want to. They dont know it needs to be change, assuming is your corner shop not the dealer. Shops not being aware of how to maintenance cars properly is not uncommon. The shops job is to give you a price that you accept and be gone as soon as possible.. Something else happening ¿ Bring it back to the shop they will tell you how much more money you need to give them.. Most of the shops will find anything to charge you , they will go for the easiest job to get you out fast. So what I mean to say is only you can care for your vehicle properly, only you can do the research about your vehicle's maintenance and maybe share it with your shop, maybe ask them to do the job you require them to do if you really trust them.. No shop cares about you or your car. Rough truth,.. Constant oil changes and filter replacements are the best to do to any engine.. I'm about to reach my 120,000 miles and about to do my 4th Transmission oil change including filter.. Just do your research so when you go to the shop you know what you need and listen to what they are trying to sell you
This website gives u info about CHRs Maintenance Data www.tochr.net/150/maintenance_data_fuel_oil_level_etc_.html
30000 miles. Mine already 160k km. Only did it once. Guess i need to replace it soon.
Wow 🤯 im about to hit 120,000 Going to be my 4th.. Remember to get the filter..

Where is a good place to buy these filters?
I only buy them straight from the dealer.. I haven't checked if they are selling it somewhere else.. autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/strainer-assy-oil-3533028020 I order here and I pick it up at my local dealer. Ask if they sell the Oring. My dealer didn't have it. Don't break yours . My Oring has 110,000 still good but I will find a replacement for my 120k tranoilchange..
