nice bike, i have an 88 and it looks exactly the same as yours. having a hard time finding any parts for it. currently has only 60psi of compression, ive never built a 2 stroke either so this is going to be a learning experience for me

From my own experience I think they didn't let the motor worm up so the pistol expands more on the exhaust side and gets egg shaped and the rings break and fly around the cylinder before being destroyed.,it all happens in the matter of seconds. I actually locked up my 85cr250 and was able to sand down my piston to where the rings could slide out and around..hit the cylinder wall with fine grit almost polish and I'll be damed it runs fine,,,I sat on it for 10months looking fir a new jug then tore it apart and figured what the he'll I gotta lose??? I still can't believe it's running..gotta love dirt bikes :)....Rich S.😊

I had the same bike a few years back. The water pump housing corroded and had a huge hole in it. I fixed the housing with epoxy filler, shaped it real well and it worked great.

I was unable to remove the passenger side valve cover. There's a transmission fill tube behind it that doesn't allow for enough clearance to pull the valve cover off. I have a 2011 GC if that makes a difference.

I bought an 87 yz250 non running for $200 new rear tire. Took 30 minutes got it running and once i seen it ran strong i replaced radiators the tank was cracked so i got a brand new overpriced clark tank and radiator shrouds and been riding my $800 dirtbike for 6 months now

This issue seems to be so prevalent that i’m shocked that chrysler won’t cover a repair recall.

Had a bad engine noise and found all cams and many lifters in poor condition. Replaced all Cams and lifters and ended up with a rod noise from scorred piston walls. Ended up replacing the engine. Doe anyone need a deal on 4 cams and 24 barely used lifters.

I hope you have better luck with the hot rodz crank than I have locked up within 30hrs on one 35hrs on the other

Thank for making this video. One question. Do you really need to take the intake if you just need to do the right side? I didn't catch that from the video. One minute you are taking right side valve cover off the other minute you struggle to remove the intake. Let me know thanks
