      Hey Jayson! I've done a few events. The last one was Sounds2Sounds just a few weeks back. TBH, its not super easy videoing when riding and Ive found myself more often leaving the camera at home and just enjoying the adventure. That being said, doing a video/s is a great way to journal and I may be disappointed in the future that I didn't do more. I'd like to do a video on the next Renegades Muster, so we'll see. 😉

    Cheers. Some interesting points in this (like, up until now I was thinking about using a Lauf) and the cassette cleaner for scraping mud off could save some time hunting around for a stick :) Reckon you could make a Playlist of your TD videos?

    What is the bag on the bike in background on the video and what do you put in the space below it? Do you put bottles or something like a cranktank?

    • @stephenpetty7517

      Hey Mike, nothing actually. This is a bag I got made up for an old bike and unfortunately I can fit bottles in that gap on my Fargo.

    Awesome videos of your tour. I just brought a Kiwi Ultralight Quilt to do the TA in 2024. I was wondering if you brought a Compression Sacks for yours. If so what brand and size? Your TA videos are also the best on RUclips 👍👍

      Thanks, Murray! Yeah, I like their Quilts.. more for summer, though - I like being able to kick my legs out. Stuff sack - I got Southern Lite packs to make up a small Dyneema drybag. It's small, like 110mm x 500mm? It mounts on the front of the bike.

      @stephenpetty7517 Thanks for the quick response. I did the Geyserland Classic a couple of weeks ago, and I definitely liked the extra leg room with the quilt. Got the Mega in November. Should be a good practice as well.

    Yikes, replacing brake pads ? You need that level of mechanic knowledge ? I could do a puncture, fix a chain, but ..

    • @stephenpetty7517
      @stephenpetty7517 Год назад

      Yep, it’s probably a good idea to spend time learning how to do basic bike maintenance before any trip. Some local bike shops don’t mind teaching this, or there’s utube. You’ll be fine 😊, bikes are reasonably user friendly.

      Hey LB, yep GoPro and I edited on my iPhone (iMovie), and uploaded where I could; usually at Motels. I was a few days behind uploading when I had finished.

    Excellent video Stephen. Thanks for sharing. Agreed on the Lauf. There is a reason they discontinued the TR fork. It sucked. Thankfully gravel became a thing and they could could redesign the fork. Their new gravel fork is by all accounts really excellent.

    Thanks for the gear list, lots of interesting stuff , and once again loved the daily updates , got a chance to see some amazing landscapes which I never realised were like that . Looking at your bike what wheels are they , they look abit like 27.5 something ? Pleased you got some quality forks and was good for the divide , love suspension on my hardtail . I've just bought a whyte 905 with 27.5 2.8 tyres which is great bike but now I'm wondering if the rolling resistance will be too much for multiway rides 🤔 maybe I should get another bike with 29er wheels, think I might have missed a trick perhaps

    • @stephenpetty7517

    A few more things to add to my kit after watching this and all your TD videos which I thoroughly enjoyed. 1. Floss and needle to sew up sidewalls. So many times on my Colorado high mountain pass routes (Tincup etc) or even the Colorado Trail I think I'm going to rip a sidewall on the gnar rocks. Also changed to 27.5x2.8 wheels and tires for just these occasions for more grip which I think/hope TD has none of. 2. Cassette cleaning brush and cleaning toothbrush. I recently found out what peanut butter mud means on a bikepacking route near Brush Mountain Lodge. It was only a km or so but bike was caked and I didn't have anything to clean it except bladders full of stream water which helped but not in the cassette or rear derailleur which kept skipping teeth. 3. The Sea to Summit backpack which you held in the palm of your hand is amazing and 1 oz.

    Hi M8, loved the TA series and your Divide diary was class. Missed the banter with Lane though :( Question1: How does the TI Fargo compare to the Steel one you rode on the TA? Other than the weight is there any notable difference? Question2: given that you have now ridden with the fox 32 fork, if you were doing the TA again would you use the carbon Firestarter or the Fox 32 fork?
