Have this on my “new for me” 2013 RAM. When repairing I’ve noticed that they do not use the steel clips in the bracket like we are used to seeing. The pad just rides in the bare bracket. I think that has a lot to do with this issue n my case.

Yup, exact same problem. I replaced the calipers but couldn't figure out why one brake was dragging. With the car parked I would push down on the brake pedal but by the time I got out of the car to the wheel to turn it, it had freed-up. The restriction was right where you said it could be, on the clamp.

I can’t find my particular squeak online. Mine isn’t a constant squeal. When I accelerate it’s like a rhythmic squeal. It stops when I let off the gas. It’s coming from what I can tell is the driver side rear.

Do you think the master cylinder will cause all 4 brakes to slightly drag? I can release each one when I open the bleeder screw. Once I drive it for about 3-7 minutes it starts back dragging. I say slightly dragging because I can jack up the truck and turn them by hand with a lot of force. No leaks on the master cylinder or hydro boost. I’ve greased slider pins, bleeding the brakes 3 times, topped off the fluid on both power steering and brake fluid. Power steering is making the whining noise. Pedal is hard not soft. It’s a 2004 Suburban with hydro boost system. Please help.

Hello there, I wonder what the dimension of the strengh those slide pins are subject to, I notice axial force but there must be any remaning radial or horizontal force as well, apart from the weight of the caliper itsel. I gues most of the torque and and force to overcome the speed of the disc from rotating is done by the pads being pushed over the bracket pad support abutment. I say this because I have seen people sometimes bushing the guide bores wht coper sleeves or even tefflon when they are too loosen due to wearing by the pin axial constant movment during breaking. Still when I see those sliding pins they seemed to be made from hardened iron. Do you have any comment about it . Thank for sahring your expertise.

Very many thanks for making and sharing this. I was after a video that showed the principles and operation and this hits the spot. Looking to sort a sticky rear brake on a VW and think the EPB mechanism isn't fully releasing properly. After a brake service the pads operate normally, but as soon as I activate then release the EPB, the LH one doesn't retract properly. While I don't want to have to replace the calliper I see little alternative. This is a great video and I'm glad I found your work.

My friend used a Duralast drum followed this procedure 2x in 2 days and the snap ring popped and tthe bearing moved in 1/2 inch. The hub looks fine. I did the other side 5yrs ago with an Ac Delco drum and its still perfectly functioning. If this failure happens again can i adsume its a drum.defect? Its getting wasteful and expensive buying new nuts.
