DIY watercolour palette: What colours should you choose?
Great tips! I’m a newbie at this.
The mirror example was such an "Aha!" moment for me. ❤❤❤ The mirror and the paper/canvas are 2 dimensional vs the real object is 3-d. My brain struggles with "seeing" the 2-d version of a 3-d object. The mirror or even a photo captures the 2-d slice of the 3-d reality.
Couldn’t have put it better myself! Glad it helped 😊
How do u do it without sticking the pages together!
Love it!❤
You should probably weigh it down for a while after to prevent warping
I definitely didn’t follow any of the right steps haha - going to buy a clamp to do it properly next time!
I love when people paint pages of books! I dont read many books, these are really cool because it gets me exited to finish the book so I can finish the picture.
It’s so fun to flick through it!
Nice❤❤
🥰
Ive been putting off learning how to record myself drawing because im scared to fail. Well, here we go. I dont care anymore thank you for the info
You got this! 😊
Wow our contry is beautiful❤❤🇦🇱🇦🇱
How much did It cost?
The fact that you can take your art stuff on a dog walk speaks volumes about how well behaved your dog is🥰
Both Joseph Zbukvic and his disciple Pablo Rubén, who are true master artists, use DS Lavender for mixing. For example, here there is a very good painting demonstration by Pablo in which he uses Lavender in certain mixes (and explains why, please see minute 9:50): ruclips.net/video/V_rFVvA2HiI/видео.html
By far the best setup. Not just in terms of using the field case but for overall portability, and the fact that I can attach it to my bag is like I’ve to not worry about anything, thank you!
I have a few of these brushes and was looking for guidance and I did get it here! ❤
thank you
beautiful video. inspired to get this pen and try drawing with it. Thank you Josie.
Beautiful!
How do you keep the DSLR power on?
Nice ❤ Love from #jaancolorsart
Does the twsbi block if the ink is left in for a long time
Pyrrol Orange is literally my top 5 color 😂 use it in my split primary palette instead of warm red (you can get nice engine red with quin magenta/rose but i never use that kind of red because i never sketch cities, only portraits, nature etc), it neutralises beautifully with PB16, makes nice flesh tones with yellow and neutralises greens that are too green.
That’s a good point. The word perfect is a scary word for a sketchbook.
@JosieViolet I’ve been a struggling self taught disabled artist that’s born with microcephaly that’s like autism. My videos ignored , I don’t get fans like yours that’s always come back and watch , rewatch , share and likes not even see premiere or live stream . I’ve been on RUclips sence early late 2000s like 2010 - 2024 . Still started twitch working it. but I’m very shy to talk so I stay quiet filming . I struggle a lot with that a lot . I use only phone to record . Not easy being disabled and can’t go to college but was told I don’t need it don’t have too and I struggle a lot with work that’s why I left school at 10th grade . I have a video have i started but even that’s ignored. I was thinking about getting a portable tripod that works with my iPhone mini 13 to travel so I can hold , put on table and on floor to look up on a canvas thats 16x12 and other stuff like 10x10 or 20x16 up to 24x20 canvases even if it’s a canvas pad roll or put it on a easel art table like if it’s paper . I am trying to open up more little by little if I am quiet or not that can be talking with a little face . I have lots of animals And my hamster makes a mess on the floor he is out . I am also traveling to see my family first time in 29 years from Georgia to Canada Ontario London / Quebec so I was thinking of filming anyways there . I was thinking of tripod that also has face reacting too . I’m also thinking of getting an easel to bring but not sure where to find the tripod I needed or Easel . When I’m not traveling not even to a park I can use it at home . I am going to places like the beach in Canada . What do you suggest that’s affordable. 10:57
This is a very well made video. Thank you!
You had me at "could this be the one brush to rule them all?". 😃
Great idea for hanging up the paints
"Slightly adicted..." Understatement of epic proportions 😂❤
As a newbie, this is fucking gold
I started with the Lamy but when I bought my TWSBI Eco I discovered I like it so much better for several reasons: The first and foremost is that it never dries out. I think this is partly because of the twist cap which I agree can be annoying but I am willing to deal with that for a pen that doesn't dry out. The second reason is that it has such a big ink reservoir so you refill it less often. The third reason is how smooth the nib flows over the page. Love mine.
Thank you for the tips really like the finished product but understand your point. The sketch pads I own are cheap with very thin sheets. I am afraid of ruining nicer paper. My results are 50/50 in terms of a good outcome. Still learning and not discouraged.
Excellent interpretation!
Excellent Choices! So glad you chose these.
I want to do a set up outside as all the spring goodness is about to burst into joyous existence but I can’t figure out how to film me working anywhere where I’m outside of my studio. Any suggestions??
I would wait for a cloudy day as the clouds will act as a giant softbox in the sky! Or if it's a sunny day, filming in the shade would be best to avoid hard shadows. Good luck!
Do you have any advice on how to sketch people outside without fear of them looking at me strangely? I feel like I'm only one loser in the comments who can't do this to the fullest. I've been trying to do this for a week but I made few drawings and only their backs.
Try to tell yourself that if you're drawing in a sketchbook most people will just assume you're writing something! And the more you do it, the more comfortable you'll get with it
Hello. Would you recommend this R16 over the smaller version R12 even for the smaller sketchbooks a6 or so?
Yes because it still goes to quite a fine point and will be more versatile for painting large areas! Although it depends how detailed you like to go :)
Not every paint is made to be used on their own. Here’s some suggestions that Daniel Smith has on their website regarding some of the paints mentioned in this video. Pyrrol orange is a tricky one for me still as well. You have to remind yourself that a little goes a long way. I use it as a base layer and I use more water than what I normally would. Again it’s not a great one for me either. Daniel Smith’s site suggests it as warm golden fall wash, mix it with blues and greens and you end up with warm earth tones. Phthalo Blue kind of surprised me to hear bc it’s fantastic for sky washes, it’s actually a favorite for me. Indian Yellow was kind of surprising as well bc I have used it personally for fall leaves and for layering flowers. Daniel Smith’s website also suggests it for fruit & vegetation. If I started struggling with a color of Daniel Smith’s I started going to their website and doing some research bc I hate not using a tube due to the price. If you search for a specific color the website will provide really nice suggestions which are helpful.
Very hepful video, thanks!
You're welcome!
I have the large Etchr bag which is too heavy and awkward so now it sits in a corner doing nothing
This is the brush l least like. Thanks for confirming though. I'll stick with my Princeton Elites, sizes 6 to 14, especially 8, 10, and 12s for most things.
You sem to have put soo much hard work and dedication in the making of thos vedio. You deserve a like👍
Thank you!
Hi Josie, do you shoot the photo Timelapse in raw or jpg? Thanks. Great video by the way. Watched it about 50 times
Thanks for watching! I usually do raw + jpeg to give me both options 😊
Its actually pretty easy to create round and circular forms with a dagger; press it down on the paper and swirl it in a circular motion
Thank you! I tried that and was impressed by the outcome! ❤
I am a great fan of Daniel Smith's watercolour paints. I love DS Yellow Ochre and Burnt Sienna. These two paints are unique to DS. The yellow ochre is semi-transparent and granulating which is very different from most brands of Yellow Ochre. There Burnt Sienna is more red than other Burnt Sienna which are more orange. I agree with your dislike of the Phthalo Blue and Green which are so overpowering. I can see why you dislike the Lavender and Buff Titanium these paints have white added to them which makes them look milky.
I do pencil sketching but want to try this loose style. Also working on watercolor painting as well. What size Twsbi nib should I start with?
Fine is a good choice to start off with!
Could using a plastic clipboard be the reason after wetting my paper the tape starts peeling up? No problems it tearing the paper (tried blue painters tape, masking & Washi tape & so far none will stay stuck? Ty.
Omg is there such things as a Sketch club ? This is absolutely adorable and cool !
I’m l😂😂😂 because I own the first 5 colors that ranked on the bottom and rather like them, especially the thalos.
Pain the Sydney telecome tower
If it’s all you regret buying then you didn’t waste a lot ! Congrats !
You failed to show and explain the tripod attachment for your sketching bag, and show how the bag attaches to a tripod.
