bro this shit needs more views.!! fixed my chair without the wd40 ... ive had this 300$ chair only two weeks so i was like every video is saying for old chairs.. mines is new and expensive... but yeah it literally was the same squeek u got from the first time u sat down on the video.. happened to be all 4 screws under the chair got loose in only a few weeks!.. wouldve never thought it was those screws cause i forsure tightened them as hard as possilbe when i assembled it.. its humbling but now i know to check the screws everytime i hear a noise!! no matter if new or not!! thanks helped me abunch

Holy shit! I was almost 100% sure I'd tightened all the bolts to the max. But I didn't! Thank you so much man. No squeking anymore :)

No deal. Bolts were tight, I installed them with thread tape when I assembled it so they won't be coming lose. The squeak is for sure coming from the cylinder but I oiled it thoroughly and I'd call it a 50% reduction in squeaks. This fn chair cost me an arm and a leg and has become the bane of my existence. I'd love to watch it burn in my backyard.

Andaseat Kaiser 3 had terrible squeak for me, got a replacement coming but they would only replace it till a coil started popping out and they said they could send me a charcoal mat but after I mentioned the 2 year warranty they decided to send me a new chair. They will really try and convince you there’s no issue. I appreciate them honoring the warranty in the end but honestly as expensive as it is I would say just go hermin Miller. I will say I did like the chair, but these things wear down after about a year of use.

Jesus christ... I bought WD 40 specialist with white lithium specifically designed for metal to metal connections. Just gave it a quick spray around where the cylinder contacts the base of the chair and the seat, flipped it back up a minute later and all the noise is completely gone. Thanks for the video, because the cylinder would be the last thing I'd try. I was going crazy tightening all the bolts.

Greetings from the future, and thanks for the video. Fixed me right up. In my case it was the metal piece that rotated when the chair moved backwards, creaking against what it was attached to.

I have had a absolute nightmare with this company after paying the most I ever have for a office chair I expected a ergonomic chair that does the job it states. I was so wrong. After purchasing this chair as soon as built it felt like it was tilting to one side. I got a spirit level and tried it on different floor surfaces but the chair was definitely unlevel. I reached out to the company who have sent 3 different parts to change on the chair which has led me to labour over rebuilding the chair multiple times but it still has the same issue! I also ended up with a bill from FedEx for them sending out replacement parts from China and not paying enough shipping. They recently sent me a new chair in exchange however this arrived with out the legs so is useless. I am now lumbered with a load of chair parts and 2 useless chairs which has not only caused me back pain but also are completely useless. Avoid this company. I will be getting my money back I am currently talking to consumer rights in the UK.

Short Comment: Thanks for the video Ergonomic Trend. It helped me get our chairs closer to noise free. Long comment: @stephanddd is correct at least for our Costco FPS chairs. The noise is from the ONE horizontal pressed in metal shaft that supports the entire weight of the chair. It is located in the middle of the square metal housing. One side is flush with a rounded end. The other end of the shaft almost appears to have a hexagonal pattern like you could use an allen wrench in it but I tried. I could not find a working allen wrench. Tried Metric and standard. Perhaps it is a one way only installation that makes removal impossible. We have (4) Costco FPS chairs that we got on sale for $139.99. All four started squeaking within six months. They are the most comfortable chairs I have owned and we have owned many different chairs over the years. I prefer these FPS Costco chairs over expensive office chairs like Herman Miller Knockoffs. Years ago we purchased a Herman Miller knockoff that cost around $350 (some Ergo chair) based on Jayztwocents video. It lacks the support at the lowest part of the back and after a few hours of sitting my lower back starts tightening up. The noise from our FPS chairs from Costco is not from the large vertical center shaft that sits in the wheel base under friction. The noise is from the ONE single horizontal Metal shaft the entire chair sits on. I sprayed some heavy duty silicone spray and moved the wheel base back and forth to work the lubricant into the metal shaft. The noise appears to come from the horizontal metal shaft rubbing against the metal frame of the attachment, that the chair is attached to. Best case scenario I would take it apart and put some heavy lithium grease so it lasts years. Unfortunately it does not appear to be able to be taken apart. Heavy Duty Lithium spray will probably last a few days to weeks to months but it will dry out and need spray as maintenance. What a design flaw! I would think all they have to do in China, when they assemble the chair, is either put a bearing on that shaft or put some heavy grease and it should be squeak free for years. Maybe they cannot do that due to regulations? Who knows!

What I ended doing was loosen all of the bolts and then retighten them again. One of them was really difficult to untighten and ended up being cross threaded. After I fixed that, no more squeaks

For people who this didn't work for, try proper automotive grease instead of oil. Fully extend the piston and apply a very liberal amount. Plain oil can often be too liquid and just run out and not stay in the needed spots.

Prices have gone up, just got one online for $450 plus tax after seeing one in a store for $550. I could not find a cheaper new unit anywhere as of making this comment.

The light grey stand you looked at near the beginning has a second larger piece on the same hinge point that gives you further height adjustment, that's what the wider slots are for. This gives higher setting options, and on the wider model can hold a heavy 17" Lenovo laptop with a dedicated gpu even at the higher height.

Just watched both videos about the creaky chair. Absolutely awesome fix!! Our new computer chair has developed this fault, we even sent off for a new part, but the creak came back worse.
