Canon EF 85mm f1.2: Rear Element Dust and Debris
Просмотров 182Месяц назад
This is a really common and really simple repair to do on these lenses, all because Canon decided to not weather seal this very popular and expensive lens! The gaff tape can be a really big pain, so just take it slow.
How To Remove That Broken Lens Filter
Просмотров 62Месяц назад
This is a semi-dangerous task. Be sure to always wear the proper PPE and take precaution to not damage the front element with your pliers. Depending on the drop damage, the lens-side threads could be damaged permanently. There is a method to straighten out the ring, but it isn't perfect. This is a much more simple repair than it may seem! The most important part is to remember the order in which the screws are removed and replaced. They are not all the same size! If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or requests, please address them to HR in the comments below the Like button! I've also got a new linktr.ee/hansomsrepairs set up, so please message me there if you'd like...

Highly recommend a pack of plastic pokers and spudgers for picking those connectors off of boards. They're softer than even the solder mask, so you can actually pry on the board and not risk denting or bending the ends.
hypothetically you can upgrade a a74 screen with these one ?
What type of screws does the shoe use? I need to replace both the top piece and the screws, since the threads on the screws now are messed up. But I can’t seem to find the screws, just the top piece. Any help?
very good but ،،What website did you order the screen from?
You can get Sony parts from Encompass Parts
Love these.. how you doon? U got one for the HDMI ports? Keen to see how they work / look so I get a better understanding..
the fearless mindset as a kid would have had me sitting here for hours digging into this challenge 😅😅
Strongly advise putting cleaning solution onto the cleaning cloth instead of putting the drops directly onto the sensor.
Anybody here did Canon R6 full spectrum modification? Need advice and experience report
Do you fix other peoples cameras. We have a Pentax K1000 with the same problem. We are a high school photography program based in Hawaii.
Yeah! Send me a message through my linktree in my youtube profile bio. I'll reply through email
Bro, please help me out. My A7IV won't turn on after a firmware update. Do you have any tips? The camera was working perfectly before the update. I tried pretty much everything I could find on the internet.
Did you find a solution? It could be that the update didn't finish. Try inserting the memory card with the updated firmware on it into the camera and see if it will finish. If that doesn't work, you'll most likely need to take it to a technician or send it to Sony to get it fixed. Good luck.
@ I tried that. After 5 days I have send the camera for repair.
@ I tried 3 different sd cards with different versions. Nothing is working. removed battery, trying to reset cycle by pressing shutter button for 30 seconds. The camera is totally bricked
Question... Would a loose LCD screen on an A7IV have the same repair process as the A7III or A7SIII? I need to tighten up those screws a bit, but can't find any tutorials for this camera. P.S. Fire content. 🔥
This was massive, thanks for uploading. This also shows me that I do not want to do this myself bahaha!
OMG, I did it! At first, it did not work and I freaked out but I connected one detached flexi thing and it worked! I don't even know how much time and money it saved. Thank you thank you!!
So what does it cost to have it done.
Probably skateboarding and dropped it.
this is awesome, thanks
Nice video man! Do you think it is possible to use this a7rv tilty flippy screen and modify it to work on a sony fx30 camera?
Camera brains tend to only like the parts that they're designed for. I'm a little curious too, though. If you decide to do it, let me know the results!
This is by far one of the best, most thorough tutorials I've seen on the topic. Saved me big time on a new camera or costly repair. It took me about five hours (triple check all connections). Thanks truly for making this.
Mind that repair like twice now
The best screen in the world is broken :(
If you want the shutter count reset, you will need to send it to Sony. Already done the job, this is a good video of the task.
Hi there! My D500 got splashed with sea water, and now it jist shows error message and the shutter wont work. Any idea what could have gone wrong, my my local technisian cleaned it thoroughly already without any improvement. Thanks.
You can attempt to clean off corrosion, and sometimes it will work for a short while, but most of the time it kills the device. Either immediately or slowly over time. You'll need to diagnose which parts have water damage and replace them individually, or, more likely, replace the entire camera.
I've never seen anyone apply self adhesive light seals this effortlessly. For me it's aggravating, always sticking to the channel walls. Great job man
It's definitely a skill that takes a lot of patience! Thanks for the info in your other comment too!
It wasn't Minolta's last ever manual focus camera. The X-370, XG-M, XG-A, and X-570 came out after the X-700, and even then Minolta kept releasing new manual focus cameras until 1995's X-370s.
There are a whole lot of post WW2 Leica 3f copies which loaded according to the drawing in the camera--which requires cutting the leader so it is extended about the width of the camera. Failure to do so can damage the shutter curtain. Goes for "Barnack Leica" and copies. Tragedy. There are videos on RUclips. Tip: get a plastic template for the job and a pair of curved ostomy scissors to help you cut the curved & strait segments.
You have to trim the film, this video is 100% wrong. There is a fu*@ing picture inside the camera. Idiot.
Lol.. Sorry.. Had a laugh This is what I used when I took photography in junior high
Can you actually to this by yourself then getting it done by a professional and where did you get the replacement camera lens please?
I typically find parts on eBay or other bidding sites like that, sometimes the part come from China and can take a very long time to arrive. If I have a donor camera (a broken camera that has something else wrong with it that I can take parts from), I prefer to use that before ordering as it's much quicker. You CAN actually do this yourself, but if you're not confident or uncomfortable, seeking out a professional is a good idea too.
@@HansomsRepairs where are you also located and how much does this repair cost please?
@@OneillaMusong Please send me a message through my linktree link in my bio
Hi, where are you located pls?
Very helpful video !! Love my 501C/M
Thank you for this! Any chance you could maybe show how to replace a front body lens mount/bayonet on the R5/R6?
I had to do that to my Spotmatic SL. The Prism had a black bar forming in the prism blocking the view. Easy enough. K1000 is definitely a little more work but it sure makes the camera feel like new.

I love your vibes bro lmaoo keep up the good work!
thats me today, the reason why im looking at this video on a wedding day , my hotshoe came out stuck the my V1 Flash
This happens very regularly with the V1. It's a super heavy flash and you're hinging all that weight on this little hotshoe. Don't let your flash hang from your camera and you can make it last much longer.
Do you happen to know how to replace the rear wheel dial? I ordered a replacement because mine was damaged but it seems impossible to put the wheel back on. There’s a tiny spring and ball but I really don’t know where to put it.
Thank you so much for this video. 🙏🙏🙏 Mine just broke off today and i am stressed. Please where did you get the replacement button?
I took this one from a donor camera body I had, but you can find the parts online. I usually have to get them from eBay since Nikon doesn't provide parts any longer!
Sir! You are awesome, Thank you for your help and advised too. God Bless. Roger
Thanks for the Tutorial. I am changing the Prism on a £5 MIC K1000 I picked up in a sale - waiting for a shot Canon T50 to strip for prism. Very helpful. Best wishes.
Not all prism are the same size so they aren't all interchangeable
LOVE THIS VIDEO....Wonderful job....thanks.
Do you have a website? My minolta is having the same issue as the camera in the video. Do you still do repairs?
Yeah I do repairs every day! If you'd like, send me a message through my linktree. You can find it in the bio of my youtube profile.
so this just happened to my a7iii - no warning. Was taking pics and suddenly heard a weird click and the shutter is messed up. I was quoted 1K for the repair. Sounds kind of crazy. I use the camera daily So I went out and just bought another a7iii. Maybe I'll try and fix the broken one just to see if I can repair it myself.
hey! thank you for the video, mine is bleeding and I would like to replace the prism but I can't seem to find it anywhere, where did you buy yours?
I had to take this prism from a donor camera that was broken beyond repair. That's sometimes how this goes, no parts available so we gotta take from other bodies.
This is one of the best camera teardown videos on RUclips I've seen, EXTREMELY helpful narration and super clear instruction. Looking forward to future content!! (If you ever do the M50, will love you haha)
Thank you for the kind words! I'll add the M50 to the list!
Hi Hansom. Thank you so much for this video. You have no idea how much this helped me! The Nikon D5 is (in my mind) the best SLR that Nikon has ever made (bar the new Z9). I have owned the amazing D700 - what a workhorse, the D750 (again great camera). Isn't that D5 12fps shutter (amd also 14fps...) just so adictive??? Man... I have been a photographer on and off for around 32 years. I bought a D5 around a year ago (for around £750 - $1032 - good deal I thought so I sold my D750 and my 70-200mm F2.8 VR Nikkor lens to afford to buy the D5) - there is a hairline crack on the reart bottom left scroll wheel surround and the shutter count was around 440,000 (they can go to over 1,000,000) - but all working OK. The rear top right thumb rubber strip needed to be replaced (very common rubber strip to wear down/away). I could not find ANY how to guides for the D5 take apart - I guess because so few were officially purchased (around 35,000 worldwide I think). Anyway, I bought the part (thinking it was an easy rubber piece to replace - but NO...) I then realised that there was an entire plastic piece BEHIND the back panel that needs to be screwed in etc. Big job! Nikon UK were going to charge me £60 ($80) and then I came across this video and I have now successfully replaced the rubber thumb strip for free! Thank you Hansom! One small issue, I had an extra screw left over.... oops. Anyway, thank you for giving me the confidence to attempt my 'repair' myself. All working OK and ready for my next rock/metal gig! I have subscribed.....
what website you use for the parts?
Some parts and tools can be found through Encompass, but I have to visit eBay for a lot of parts, especially for older cameras.
Hilarious video man! Definitely saving this for the future. Thanks for the great pacing.
Bro💀
thanks for the video where can i buy the replacement part?
If you type this into google you'll be able to find it: "sony a7iii 149019334" The part number is the long string of numbers, you can usually find them from companies like Encompass Parts, but sometimes you have to buy from eBay. Good luck on your repair!
@@HansomsRepairs thank you for responding, i actually need part for my a6000 it only has 257 shutter count. i see some information about adjusting the shutter spring. do you know if it is possible to fix it that way?
Can I ship you a mark 2 for lens replacement?
