@@weekendtourpros I'm sure it's relatable to most golfers really. If you do try the slazenger v300 soft it's also worth picking up a pack of the srixon marathon soft which are exclusive to sports direct. Probably just a rebranded soft feel but I kind of like them and they cost 90p per ball so you don't mind too much when you lose one.

@@weekendtourpros yes, good point on the retro loft. 31 degrees would deliver some more spin. For me personally 5000 is as low as I would want to see for a 7 iron. Losing 10 yds but gaining 1000 spin and a better descent angle would be a good trade off.

Hi Jon! I’ve been fitted for my whole bag at Precision Golf in West Byfleet. It’s a premium service so comes at a premium price but I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone who is a golf nut and equipment junkie! You’ll feel like a kid in a sweet shop there! There’s also Nine By Nine golf in Chichester who I know of who are very similar and come recommended by friends but I’m not sure on their Lh offering. Alternatively I do a lot of my filming at Portsmouth Golf Centre who have recently expanded their left handed offering quite substantially - not as much as Precision Golf - but great people and a great facility too! @@weekendtourpros The average male golfer is a strange guide line to test golf balls.The average so called golfer slices the ball.The average golfer is lucky to play 20 rounds a year.The average golfer does not have indoor to practice.The average male golfer has not had a pro coaching lesson.etc etc etc.Im 64 .have not played golf for over 20 years.Went other week to watch freind on range and hit a few balls was carrying 230 plus running out minimum 250.

Hi Ian! Thanks for watching! I actually went back and played the Forest course a couple of weeks back! We’ve had a bit more rainfall this autumn so it was a touch wetter with softer greens but I still had just as much fun… the cows were all out in Cow Corner that day including some baby calves trotting around which were great to see and I’m sure your daughter will love! And we also saw about a dozen New Forest ponies over the course of the round too a couple of which were being noisy and chattering to each other! The area surrounding the course is lovely too and there’s a lot more new forest wildlife accessible in a very short drive! I hope you and your daughter have the best time! 👍🏼

Hi Franks4973! Sorry my approach in this video didn’t meet your expectations. I do think I demonstrated and highlighted throughout that the ball was inconsistent throughout the video by the fact I had to remove a large set of data to get any reasonable ‘trend’ out of what the ball is capable of at its ‘best’ and then even still it wasn’t as consistent or strong performing as a full data set with the alternative ball. I use the Pro V1 for benchmarking in most of my videos, because I think people trust it as the best ball in golf… I personally don’t play it because my handicap would suggest I lose too many of them and I actually find golf balls £10 a dozen cheaper to perform better for me in my testing! Quite possibly! Also worth noting it’s just one type of range ball and I’m sure they vary from place to place. One of the things I like about the place I borrowed this from is they don’t feel as rock hard as many that I usually use! So I’m sure if I tested 4/5 range balls we’d see a variety of results! 👍🏼

Hi Wayne! Yep! It’s not all bad and hopefully that came across in the video! I went in with no expectations either way as lots of £25 balls I test have kept up with £40 balls etc. when in my hands as an average golfer. I do tend to find that in the short game test the roll out is quite similar with all golf balls - they just achieve it in different ways… premium balls spin more and grab and stop, cheaper balls go higher and rely on the land angle to stop. For a one off 20 yard shot this means they can look similar but the issue comes when you have to hit a 10 yard shot over a bunker to a short sided pin… the spinnier ball usually comes into its own at that point… but it’s all personal preference of how you value price vs performance so there’s no perfect answer here! @@weekendtourpros I work at a big chain golf store and people ask for ball recommendations. I rely that there is no answer I can provide. They just have to try them on their own. Since most swings are not even close to good or the repeatability is low, it is difficult to compare any and get numbers. Price may be a start or most people should use 70-80 compression, but I also see young men who swing hard and decent so if they want to spend the money it is their choice. Unless you have quick hand release then urethane maybe be a waste, just play an ionomer ball.

For me personally, I’m not the longest golfer, so losing 10 yards distance does feel like too much for me to give up - I already hit too many hybrids and fairway woods into holes! Haha! NO, NO, NO! The Costco ball is JUNK. I quit buying them because they don't last more than 2 holes. A couple iron strikes will damage the cover!

Hi Martin! My current irons (Mizuno JPX923 Forged) are only a couple of years old so I plan to stick with them for a bit longer. So was filming this more to help golfers like yourself out! I think if I went for a set I’d probably stick to T200 through the bag… I think golf is hard enough (well at least it is for me!) so I’ll always choose to have any extra help/forgiveness I can! If I was a particularly good iron player I would combo maybe the 8-9-PW with T150 though… not sure if that helps? Thanks for the kind words and for watching my video! 👍🏼

Hi Frank! I play a regular flex in my irons but a stiff flex in my hybrids, fairway woods and driver. My swing speed seems to be close to the typical crossover points and whenever I have fittings I find that those two options work best for me! Not sure if that answers your question? Hi Connor! I think they are a newer iron in the Cobra Game Improvement range (Aerojet was last years model and I think the iron inbetween LTDx and these). I never got to hit the LTDx so hard for me to comment on how different these are but over a couple of years irons are usually more evolution over revolution! Always worth testing or getting a fit though if you want to see how they compare! Thanks for watching! 👍🏼

Split set definitely is an option with these provided you get the lofts merging nicely so might need to Power Spec the i230 with normal i530 lofts if you want more distance or if you need more spin normal lofts in the i230 with Retro Loft in the i530! I think if I gamed these I’d go retro loft in i530! I really like both! 👍🏼

Hi Doug! Thanks for watching and for your comment. It's only a very small number of shots that get removed and mostly due to the fact that (unlike when I'm on the golf course!) I'm trying to do lots of other things at the same time when making a video, beyond just focusing on the actual hitting of golf shots (e.g. setting up a camera, checking the lighting, checking sound levels, talking to camera and not leaving a long pause whilst I go through my full pre-shot routine!). As a result, being a 12 handicap golfer, I can hit the odd shot when filming that is unusual for me and given the size of the data sets for a video like this (12-15 shots with each club) it would just unfairly skew it if I kept it in... As an FYI If I did include every shot the result would still be the same, if not even more obviously in favour of the hybrid! I hope you can see past that concern and give my channel another go if you see it in the future! Also I hope you can respect that at least I'm honest about it too! Thanks!

@@weekendtourpros being a 12 handicap means that you are hitting odd shots when you play, not just in the "lab". did you have more odd shots when using the iron or when using the hybrid. that is very important data. those miss hits are exactly why someone might use the hybrid instead of the iron. hiding the data means you are hiding the true conclusion.

Hi Mats! Thanks for watching! I don’t think there’s a lot in it to be honest and it’s always the challenge when you’ve only got the 7 iron with both to test with that you can’t do that test! Both are great though and at my level not a lot in it. I think i530 in retro loft would be my choice just for that touch more forgiveness and I think I’d get similar numbers to the i230 numbers. 👍🏼
