Bro just been binge watching a bunch of old countryside performances for a hype video for our first comp... crazy how far you've come in the marching music world.

I hate how modern phones limit loud volumes so much. You can clearly hear this happen at 2:32. I just want the big moments to come across on camera, I don’t give a shit if it clips the mic a little. I tried recording a few songs from a metal concert a while back, but the same thing happened, and the dynamics of the show were completely flattened on video, and then the sound of people cheering after the song ends was way louder.

Is it difficult to come and witness this in person…? Soon…? Please.

6:10 To 6:16 holy mother of god no wonder this was never perfect on the field… Are those bell tones split within the pods, or across different ones? If my ear is right, you’re playing the -pl- of tri-pl-ets (but the triplets are actually dotted quarters at the original tempo). Were there people on the other beats in your same pod, or were they also on the other side of the field? Either way, I’ve always wondered what exactly was going on in those 2 bars that made them dirty. Now I see that they were asking all 80 of you to split those triplets across like 40 yards on instruments you don’t play. Nuts.

Matt Harloff is the best DCI band director (or whatever job he has at Carolina Crown). He hears perfection in the band, and he knows the potential of the band, and then he brings it out during the season.

They have that 20 points sound. Even the discords are in perfect tune. Its sad that all Matt Harloff can do each year is plato at perfection over and over again. Its so freakin satisfying to listen to them.

Love that chorale at the beginning! Have they done that in years past? And my goodness, the clarity, blend, resonance, and power of this hornline is simply unmatched.
