I have had 2 yetis and an orca, they all suck, my coleman 100 outperformed them all, get a 12volt fridge and ditch the ice bs altogether, what good is a 54 quart cooler if half tge volume has to be ice, been serious overlanding for a few years now and camping my whole life the 12v fridge is far superior

Guy needs to check his history of rotomolded coolers... as well as actual volume specs for the various coolers.

The best "cooler" I've ever bought by far is a Bouge RV portable fridge. It cools down to -8 degrees (or the hottest mine will get to is 50 degrees) runs on 12 volts and without power keeps food cold for a day or so.

When you are on a week long camping trip the yeti kept our food/drinks chilled for the whole week. Expensive but worth it if you are using it for what it’s meant for. I won’t touch anything else. I want a stake dinner on the boundary waters on day 5.

I work for big brown and I’m looking at all this crazy specific information for reasons like this. The floor in the delivery truck is not heat shielded from the exhaust, and it gets so hot it burns waffles into my knees when I kneel down for small packages stuck in corners. It’s gonna be 104° tomorrow, and something as minuscule as insulation thickness on the bottom is exactly what I’m looking at. It’s most likely going to have some heavy shit fall on it, as we deliver up to 150lbs and stuff falls over while driving all the time. I can’t control when people cut me off. I have to expect that it will occur every day because I cannot guarantee it won’t. I also hate buying shit twice. Probably gonna get a yeti.

And the igloo is 1/3 rd the price of an over priced yeti. Had a yeti. Didnt do much better. Just broke my back more as it weighs like a tank

I have the Orca 40. Quite happy with it. The handles are tough to open.

It's not about performance but rather prestige. For some, they love the Yeti logo and are happy to display it whenever they get the chance.

Foam guy here. Whats crazy with foam if you are approaching the 3" mark, you wont get any real savings on heat or cold retention. Another inch will only get you a extra 4-5% in savings which would cost 25-40% more so diminishing returns. I like to see a seriously thick cooler and what the difference would be over a period of a 3-4 days

I have performed the ice efficiency tests using the Yeti and Rtic 45 Qt coolers and they are the equivalent of one another-pretty much the same deign components. The one significant difference with the Igloo BMX is the absence of the rubber "D " molding at the impression in the lid , where it meets the raised ridge that runs along the inside edge of the cooler body . The Yeti, Rtic and Amazon coolers discussed in this video all have the rubber"D"molding . I bought a 90 inch by 3/8ths inch section of that rubber"D " mold at Ace Hardware for $5.00 at Ace hardware. The flat side of the D mold has an adhesive back. I cut it to size and installed it in the impression in the lid of my BMX. GUESS WHAT? the modified BMX cooler now matches the Yeti and Rtic coolers ice efficiency.

Correction: YETI isn’t the original rotomolded cooler. ICEY-TEK made the first rotomolded coolers and introduced them to the US in 1998. YETI didn’t exist until 2006. YETI purchased their first “Roughneck” coolers from them and branded them as their own.

A couple of things you could have done, the amount of force to open the lid, a fishing scale would have done the job. And Another one would be to get a sample of the foam from each one the same size and see if there is a difference in the weight

I have a Lifetime rotomolded cooler and feel they are the best in the market. Low cost. Ice for a week or more. Solid secure latches. Big knob for the drain. Rope handles. Its never failed me.

Yeti roadie is not rotomolded, it's injection molded, that's why is not made in the usa, not bear resistant and has seems. Unlike the tundra coolers which are rotomolded

People that hate on yeti for the price have the mentality of someone that sees a beautiful, expensive sports car and says my car is almost as fast as that one and costs a fourth of the price haha what a fool to pay for the sports car!! Meanwhile while his car might be close to as fast, it’s is a cheaply built rust bucket with bad interior and a couple windows that don’t roll down.

People cry about yeti but they are the best looking coolers and work well. I got one on sale in tan and like it. I did have an issue with the lid being a little warped and yeti swapped it out for a new one no questions asked. Good service.
