dude.... best one I've ever seen
@@zzzdomzzzify thank you!!
For anybody wanting to build these I've started this project and basically the materials just for the pillars not the wall because (I'm using 4x8 by 4 inch thick foam board for the wall,) six 2x6x104, twenty 1x4x8, four sheets 4x8x.25 plywood, four sheets 4x8x1" foam , lg box of screws. cost me 314.88 built/framed/sheeted lg pillars day 1, built/framed/sheeted small pillars and cut all 80 bricks day 2, foam work attaching this weekend. I will hard coat and paint next week. btw... brad nailer works better to attach the plywood, just use wood glue too.
Thanks for listing all this out! I wish I did a more detailed count of everything. Good luck building!!
It must be spooky season as this video finally found its way onto my feed. Great job. I sub to Capital City Lumber yard sort of recently. Heard you mentioned them in your video. Wonder if that is why the algorithm decided to show this video on my feed. We will never know. Will have to sub and check out your other video. Great job !!
Well I've been watching this video over and over again in the past week because I'm building this project now so it might have boosted the algorithm.
Nice
This is so amazing. I wish there was a company that’s sold this in vacuform, I have wood facades but I’m so tired of moving them and staking them down when they are so heavy 😢 You should consider opening your own Halloween company, you do great work!
Thank you so much! And I agree, wish I could store these like an inflatable. And I would love to do this for a living, currently on track to becoming an architect so we’ll see what I do from there!
Where do you store all of this
Storage unit!
Excellent job Andrew! I am going to use your video as inspiration to build some columns this year for Halloween. QQ: I am trying to gauge how much rigid foam to buy. Can you estimate how many 4x8 sheets you ended up needing (both sizes) for the build?
Thank you! It’s been a while but to play it safe I would say 2 sheets of the 1/2” thick per column. If you were to build the side walls with the thicker foam, I would say 1 sheet of that would be enough.
@@AndrewLong Great, that's a big help. Appreciate the fact you still answer questions on this video even though it's over 3 years old!
@@jimepler9347 haha of course! Try my best to reply to every comment
If it is 90 plus degrees of course the fog will stay on the ground. What happens if the temp is in the 30’s does the fog get cooled enough to stay on the ground.
I would assume that it would stay on the ground better if it is cold out!
I am blown away with the detail and how good that all turned out. What a great entry into a haunt
Thank you! The haunted house design team I started at UF (Swamp Haunters) are using this facade for a part of their bayou haunt.
I like it! Man that must be heavy? I think it would be cool to make a foam bell for the top instead of louvers and have an animated prop up there popping up
Thanks! It’s not too heavy but definitely requires at least two people. A bell would be pretty cool! I based the louvers off of a bunch of photos I saw of southern gothic churches.
Just finishing up building a pair of these columns following your instructions they are looking pretty awesome, thanks for taking the time to put the videos together.
Awesome! I would love to see any photos if you would like to share them.
Awesome. I will be following your design. Can you do a tutorial on your cemetery arch sign?
@@trentbumgarner2203 great! If you have any questions let me know. I’m not sure if I will be able to put together a tutorial for the sign but I can at least tell you how I made it. I used 1/2” foam insulation board and drew out the shapes I wanted. I cut each individual letter using a dremel with a drill bit attachment and a height guard. I then glued everything together and painted/aged it. I simply spray foamed pvc to the back side of it and that’s how it attaches to the columns.
Excellent Job!
Thanks!
What an inspiring build. Love it!
Thank you!!
Over the top goodness!! 🎃
@@ooddities thank you!!
Amazing!
Thanks!
Would love an in deph video about lighting effects & how to tie it all together
That’s a good idea! Is there anything specifically you’re wondering about or just lighting as a whole?
Hi Again Andrew, not sure if you have looked at Distortions Unlimited "Monster Labs" on RUclips... I have learned so much with painting technique from you and from them. Like making "Rub out" the rub out would help you with adding darkness to the recessed letters and cracks with rub out being mostly rubbing alcohol and using rubbing alcohol to remove the paint you don't want... which adds a ton of depth quickly. I also was watching how the paint would come off of the pool noodles on your columns and was thinking that maybe the Distortions recipe for painting latex masks or props would work good for something that is flexible... Here is a link to Monster Lab and their painting recipe... ruclips.net/video/te6lwLpGioo/видео.htmlsi=BCBvtmuqujgsyHnG , here is the tutorial for rub out which I found very useful on some of the props I have... ruclips.net/video/o8oL6sEeBq4/видео.htmlsi=CupLvWXglyq9QzQK Here is part 2 ruclips.net/video/rMmftBOT_fk/видео.htmlsi=Qb5_xaO3RME47-tYruclips.net/video/rMmftBOT_fk/видео.htmlsi=Qb5_xaO3RME47-tY
You're so talented.... you must be a math and art major... in your other video you mentioned trig like it's nothing to know trig designing a trapezoid. I studied electronics in college and use a lot if math but not trig...

Love the headstone quip 😂
Thanks 😂
Why did you use Luan plywood? Is there a specific reason for it? I'm finding it hard to get here in Minnesota... could I use 1/4 inch OSB or just normal plywood?
Lauan plywood was the cheapest and best quality thin plywood I could find. OSB and normal plywood should also work just fine!
@@AndrewLong Thank you! Was that latex based paints, you were adding water, so I am assuming water based...???
@@iamthenra1968 all water based paints!
@@AndrewLong at 9:45 you are talking about the "foam molding pieces" or the " T " shaped decorative molding, what are the dimension of the horizontal and vertical pieces? I am going to be doing the columns this year, and maybe next year I will do the wall and end columns like yours... I absolutely love your work this design is amazing. I have to ask, was the crooked gate on purpose? making it look run down and old? Every time I see it my OCD kicks in and it drives me crazy that it isn't square... lol I do the same thing with paintings on the wall if it isn't straight it drives me crazy .... lol
@@iamthenra1968 I’m sorry I don’t remember the exact dimensions but I believe the horizontal is 3” wide and the vertical is 4” wide. I’m sure the proportions are similar to that. The 2x2 for the gate was quite warped so it just made the whole thing crooked which was a happy accident lol. Good luck making your columns and thank you so much for the support! If you have any other questions lmk.
Gosh that looks amazing... You are so talented. I am going to do my best to make these. probably won't look as good as yours... if I could hire you I would.
I am beyond impressed! This is stunning, absolutely love the way this looks. Can I hire you to build me these? Dang.... I will try to build them, but holy cow. You are very talented. So impressed...
Wow! That is Hollywood professional! Are you possibly going to do a video this year in 2023 of your yard haunt? Would love to see that! Looks absolutely amazing!
Thank you! I am actually working on a full-scale haunted house at the University of Florida this haunt season and will do my best to get videos out for that!
@@AndrewLong very cool you have moved from home haunt to a much larger scale University haunt-it was bound to happen! I didn't even know they existed! You are probably the first or at least one of the handful to do so. Have fun! Maybe one day you will own your own professional haunt? I'm excited to see some footage!
Great build you've done here.... going to try to incorporate some of your movements into my next prop. Thanks for the video.
Thank you!! Good luck with your next prop!
Nice. You are a fking good . Excellent job
Wow 🤩 amazing dude !
Hey Again! So…we didn’t have time to finish last year. We started another build for the extra fence columns and didn’t get to make these big ones. NOW…we are finally making them. Can you tell me how wide the piece of foam board is that goes down the center? The one that looks like it separates the bricks. Thanks again!
Wow, excellent work!! Incredibly talented. Can you provide the specific shades of paint for all colors used? Thanks!!
Amazing job. I want to know where you store all of it?
Im not usually a fan of using the lighterweight foam, but you made those rocks in the wall look awesome. 👍
Hi. Great work. What is the density of the foam you use? 1, 2, and 3 lb. options are offered by the Foam Factory.
Where do you store these in the off-season?
Some are in a storage unit, some are in our garage! Haha

These columns and fencing is not easy. Very time consuming and was not cheap for me to make. Just wondering how long it took you and how much do you think it cost? I’m not even 1/2 way done and I’ve spent well over $1000.
Oh no I’m sorry about that! It took me over 2 months to build the whole set of columns. I don’t remember the exact cost but I know that foam prices have gone up quite a lot which could be a culprit.
@@AndrewLong Everything has gone up in price. I started in August and questioning my commitment to this project. Lol. When I watched your videos it looks so simple. Far from a simple project. Now I understand why this prop would cost so much.
@@SCPVIDEOPRODUCTION these projects can definitely become complicated! I wish you luck with finishing it! Let me know if you have any questions or need any further help.
Do you coat them with anything after painting ? Do you find rain or weather makes the paint run?
Nope! The paint should be enough of a weather barrier but you can definitely put a clear protective coat on it.
Damn, you’re good !
Thank you!
