      Hi Joseph, Yes, it is, whatever the BPM shown on the micro clock's screen will be communicated to all connected devices, either by taps or manually turning the knob. The new BPM Will then be displayed on any devices that also have screens and are setup to display BPMs.

    Why dont they have it set up like hall, plate, spring, room, etc? What is advantages of not doing so?

    • @pedalcasters
      @pedalcasters 2 года назад

      They included more traditional algorithms in Specular Tempus along with very unique algorithms but in this particular case, I believe they did it for 2 reasons (and please take it with a grain of salt as this is my interpretation only): They wanted an algorithm that was unique and versatile while making you play instead of focussing on what type of reverb you use; this can be tweeked to be as spacious as one wishes; The second reason is that they wanted a base reverb that would be proprietary and flexible as a starting point for all the effects that they added to the Spatium reverb creating all of the pedal's algorithms. Again, this is what I think went down but might be completely wrong. Regardless, I love the result :) Also, on a more personal note, whenever I have pedals with the traditional 4 types of reverberation (spring, room, plate, hall), more often then not, I stick to 2 of those effects only.

    Cool demo. As a big Echolution fan, I wondered If I could tell which one it is out of the bunch. And yeah, it definitely has that sound, it is really unique amongst all tape emulations I know. Plus its modulation is very beautiful,too. My favorite delay after years of owning it. Also I recognized the Obscura in the first spot. I like that delay, too, as I previous owner I must admit I am little sad that I no longer have it. It has a ton of sweet spots, especially with those darker tape sound settings. I just found it being a bit of overkill alongside Echolution. But it is definitely on the top of my list for simple stompbox delays. :)

    • @pedalcasters
      @pedalcasters 2 года назад

      Thanks Vladimir :) The Echolution really is a unique pedal and what's crazy is that you can get second hand versions of the pedal of insanely cheap prices most of the time! I gotta say though, my pedal collection shrunk significantly since this video but I kept the Obscura (and also the Polara). Can't go wrong with that pedal :) the reverse mode is kind of useless to be honest but the tape and analog modes are some of the best out there, regardless of price. The lofi setting is super fun too.

      Thanks Shai! Really glad you like them :) Tough choice. If getting both is not an option, I'd ask: What are you looking for, mainly? Is it a modulating pedal that is also a delay or a delay pedal that lets you modulate the repeats? Although both pedals work by adding modulation to the repeats, the focus of the Retardez is more on the various shades and waves of modulation you can have, with very short delay times whereas the Mockingbird gives you more options delay wise (longer delay times and tone control plus the with oscillation footswitch) but only one type of chorusing effect. But of course, the sound is always altered a bit if you intend on using the pedal like this as it is going through the entire circuit and what you are hearing is solely the wet part of the signal ( that's why the depth knob must be close to maximum whenever you remove the repeats from the equation).

The main difference between the specular tempus and the collider is that the gfi won't do delay and Reverb simultaneous (unless you are using one of the hybrid algorithms however, the control over each effect won't be as detailed). But again, the gfi can do it all from really esoteric sounds to traditional ones, the collider, I feel that sums up all the known, loved and tried classic algorithms that you use all the time and not just here and there and it does this beautifully. I’ve been looking for a second reverb pedal to get even more ambient tone. I have watched probably 40 videos from all the $250+ heavy hitters and this one (only 3 knobs, inexpensive, boring graphics) is sneakily one of the best ambient reverbs I’ve ever heard. I’m very, very tempted.

    • @pedalcasters
      @pedalcasters 3 года назад

      @@devinftf I agree. Not only that, it makes you play more and lose yourself in huge pads. Its simplicity never detracts you from the guitar and although it makes you want to tweak it, all changes can be made within seconds as there is nothing but 3 knobs to distract you from the main thing, how good and huge it sounds. I don't think many reverbs to that with such a simple layout.

      Thank you so much :) I actually have the Specular Tempus as well, no video for it though. Algorithm wise, GFI reverbs (and delays too) are just amazing, definitely have their own original approach and I really think they make you sound better, the reverbs really compliment what's being played and always sound huge, specially in stereo, you can really feel the movement. As for which one is the right one to buy, that's a tough one. The Tempus has more algorithms and of course, it has delays too but the pedal opens up even more when you use SpecLab, loads of parameters to tweak. Now it just depends if you are a fan of tweaking and want all the extra reverb flavors or just want to set 4 knobs, choose one of 7 algorithms and be done. Regardless of choice, not a bad sound in them :)

    Hi guys!! Great vid... i got a question... so if its on dotted eight mode, can you leave it at that to tap it manually during live shows? Or the dotted eighth can only be stored as a preset? If the dotted eighth can be used manually, i just need to tap quarter notes? If my pedal has an external tap tempo, and can only do quarter notes... will the micro clock enable it to have dotted eighths, even if the delay pedal has only quarter note mode?

    • @pedalcasters
      @pedalcasters 4 года назад

      Hi David! Thanks! Imagining you connect your micro.Clock to a pedal and you always use preset 1, if you setup this preset to be dotted eight notes, the micro.clock will take the BPM you stored in that same preset and subdivide it to make it dotted eight. However, say you always want to have that preset on but would like to tap in the tempo during songs or during songs, that is also possible. If the preset is saved as dotted eight notes, all the quarter notes that you tap in will be subdivided into dotted eight notes by the micro.clock (however, the BPM will change according to the quarter noted you tap in, despite the sound being in dotted eighths. I hope this makes sense). As for your pedal, it doesn't matter. What the micro.clock sends to the pedal are pulses meaning that you can think of it like tapping your pedal really fast to give you dotted eight notes (imagining your quarter notes only pedal has tap tempo and you want dotted eighths but you want to tap the tempo instead of changing the knobs). This is what the pedal is getting, real fast pulses that the micro.clock converted from quarter to dotted eighths or any other subdivision (most common ones at least). Let me know if you have any other questions :)

    • @pedalcasters
      @pedalcasters 4 года назад

      Boss' oc-3 let's you select the range of lower notes that the pedal tracks however, it also lowers it by an octave. What would you like the pedal to do? I know boss/Roland's synth pedals allow you to do that but then again, they use a special pick up

    • @MichaelFaughn
      @MichaelFaughn 4 года назад

      @@pedalcasters I think I misunderstood what this pedal was doing at first. I thought it was doing something similar to what you can do with the new Asteriode. Basically, sample your lowest note (not neceesarily octave down though) and then add that tone into subsequent notes that were above the frequency cutoff for sampling...or maybe just play your last low note as a drone for some settable period of time (or until another note below the frequency threshold is played, in which case that new frequency becomes the drone).

    My cat needs to be right in the mix as well; somehow sleeps feet away during the most brutal fuzz experiments. The original , Ge version of the Dream Crusher can still be had, and although I would say it is that much better, it's also uneven and temperamental.I eventually traded what was the best sounding, most flexible unit I ever owned (Fat Fuzz Factory) for a similar reason .One day it was great, the next it was an expensive Metal Zone; they tend to really not like heat. Analogman have addressed some of these issues with designs that correct for environment,- but expect to pay for it.The Silicon gets close enough where you couldn't tell , LIVE.More of a bedroom/ studio vanity.If you can't tell, or don't appreciate the difference, stick with the Silicon.

      Ahah Gotta love cats! Germanium sure has its quirks and to some extent, they're part of the appeal. I haven't tried one of the AnalogMan offerings, the waiting lists are crazy! And the price of course.

For such a saturated market specially when it comes to drive (which most of them, are copies of copies), I like when companies do things outside the box and of course, at fair prices. Great examples of this are Comodoro from Spain and Side FX from Greece. Stay safe too :)
