It just flaps every which way , and pretty aggressively - puts major wear & tear on it and the standing rigging !

This is true ! We originally wanted to have a compressor and scuba gear on the boat but diving is a ‘buddy sport’ and if we were anchoring & diving somewhere remote who would be watching joco ? Unknown made-up anchorages are a bit iffy for leaving the boat . So , if we sail somewhere that has a mind blowing underwater world we’ll just go with a dive outfit on a ‘tour’

I don’t think I mentioned we were replacing with teak did I ? 😉😉 stay tuned to find out !

@@sailingjoco I am from Dominica so it's quite easy to pop over for day trips there. Guadeloupe, Martinique and St lucia are also easily accessible via the ferry service. All beautiful islands by their own right💯

Hey Fred! Thank you for the info , had no idea we could do that !! We do the same kinda idea with the app Maps.Me where it downloads the area so we can use the map offline. Will def use your suggestion as there’s tons of French islands in the Caribbean !

@@sailingjoco you can do it that as well with Google Maps. Go to settings and find something like Offline Maps. Choose and pinch the area you want to download and you are done :-). You won't get the whole earth but choosing 3 countries should work. I was able to do it for Guadeloupe Dominique & Martinique at the same time. You can repeat the process couple times as Google Maps allows you maybe 5 slots to do it. So covering most of the carribean islands should be feasible. At least doing so even if you dont get the detailed and satellite map you do get the basics not to be lost in case of not having data as I am guessing you have canadian subscription mobile plan. Anyway happy to help as always :-).

Good ideas ! We actually have a French Caribbean cellular plan with digicel - works amazing in all the islands and pretty affordable. Gives tons of data (hense being able to post videos!)

Ahhh do your light strips change colors ? What’s the best color to deter them? Lol

@@sailingjoco we use the Govee outdoor strips. That connect to the phone app. We usually keep a cool blue just to be able to see well and nothing too bright, but we are still figuring stuff out ourselves.

We’ve bought one from them for , seems like quality stuff for sure !

43 days !!! So glad to hear you’re there safe & sound , wow what an accomplishment!! How was the passage from Grenada to curaçao ? We have a few friends in curaçao and nearby and they love it too. @@sailingjoco interesting... -- QUESTION -- If you had a sponsor for the equipment, would you commit to being the first to sail around the world and recording every mile of it? No one has yet to do that although some parts have been recorded on youtube. You could be the first.. Would need at least three cameras, maybe top of mast from the stern and from the bow. Each recording to an onboard server in HD or 4K and maybe a Starlink (why not backup the data in real time). I wonder if Google would be interested in this as they have plotted just about all land surfaces. Maybe install some ocean sensors to derive temperature, oxygen levels, etc and make this a proper tax-free enterprise. Would you go for that or is it too much of a change? There may be some serious research funding available if the plan is properly written and presented.

We would need sponsors for much more than just camera equipment to pull that off 😂😂 but never say never ! Wouldn’t that be a great experience
