Great video and awesome build
👍👍👊
Sick! Btw, it would've beennice to see a side by side comparison on height change.
Love my cats iv owned all brands over the years also rode many different sleds. Some really good sleds out there but for performance and durability cats hard to beat. Iv been riding since I was 5 years old I’m now 45. Raced cats 15 years in the NE SX and pro XC many wins and championships. My cats didn’t always come out the box perfect but after setup clutching i have always been very happy. Awesome build great looking sled.
Some people have too much money on their hands... yes I'm just jealous haha. Nice build!
👍👍👊
I’m in the process of restoring an older seadoo. Would you use the same spi epoxy, base, then clear on the hull as well or something different? I know it will hold up on the topside just not sure about the hull itself. If not, what would you suggest using? Great work!
@@mmgarage218 hey man thanks for the comment! Chances are your ski hull is gel coat top and bottom. Quality automotive paint would be fine either side. But I would recommend trying to use gel coat if possible for the bottom as it would be more durable. I honestly don’t have much gel coat experience I believe the difficulty is in matching the color. There’s a channel called today we wrench who does a lot of sea doo restos and has videos of gel coating. Definitely recommend checking him out he does quality work!
what did you pay for it? im looking for the same thing but in Cali
Dude, great job on that gel coat restoration! Thanks for showing the reassemmbly as well.
Thanks man!
What did u use for the activator for clearcoat
The clear coat has its own specific activator to be used in the clear.
Did u mix the clear coat and base paint??? What was the clear stuff u mixed with base pain
Nope. The basecoat did have its own activator and it was reduced with reducer as well. That’s what both clear things were mixed in the paint.
haha, the adapt clutch an upgrade. Thing is a bigger pos than the team. nice build otherwise. Ditch the electric start bs and save some weight
Adapt was purchased right when they came out. Been working great for several 100 miles, we will see how if I have any trouble.
What lift is that?
The lift table is a Handy lift. www.handyindustries.com/product-category/motorcycle-atv-utv-lifts/
❤
What’s with the Chinese music
What was the clear liquid you added to the paint as you loaded the spray gun cup?
I am using quality automotive refinishing paint in this video. So the base coat blue color has a reducer that’s added to thin the paint and a catalyst to activate the paint(make it hard). The clear coat also has a catalyst/activator which makes a chemical reaction to make it harden. This makes for a much more shiny and durable finish and has much more UV resistance compared to a not activated paint.
Wow, nice job. It really came out great from where it was. The engine bay was really bad. I don’t know how people neglect their stuff like that. Any idea about how long the gel coat restore took? It looks like you did it in one day.
Thank you! I don’t know either I am sure its had several owners with a lack of care. I probably spent a good 6-8 hours refinishing the gel coat restore. I had to go back and touch up a few spots off camera. Thanks for the support!
Reinstalled the ski bolts backwards, head of the bolt should be on the outside nut on the inside.
That’s how I installed them
im such a slut for that green color on these cats
Im not sure where the 80s hair metal spadex color ends, and the arctic cat green begins...
Are you running a sway bar?
I am not running one
Super good video. The sled turned out so sick🔥
Thank you!!
Interesting back in the day it used to be priority one the engine, priority two the exhaust (HP), priority three skis and track .... and then the rest of the stuff.
Shooting for maximum reliability for in the back country by keeping the engine and tuning stock.
@@projectpowersports .. If you're suggesting that a factory engine is more reliable than good quality aftermarket parts, then we would disagree. I've blown the top of the pistons off of plenty of stock Arctic Cat engines to know better.
Beautiful sled
Thanks man!
Nice ffsled great job and video
He picks Cat to build a dream sled 😂
Love the rear grab handle. Great build, should be proud of it!
Thank you! Appreciate the comment!
Nice build? what does it do?
If I was a snowmobile company I would put all the best parts you could ever put and charge a fair price for it so they don't have to go out and do that themselves. There's a market for it
Who buys an underpowered arctic cat then spends thousands of dollars to make it almost as good as a stock rmk/summit lol.. 😂
RMK can't even be ridden bud. All recalled. Polaris is trash.
@@anythingadrenaline4515 I have a Lynx shredder lol. Just naming literally any other brand cause AC is bottom of the barrel garbage.
@@xGR1MxREAPERxliterally I mean they look mean till you race them 😂
@@Canadianoutlaw420 what he did to the sled makes it look cool, they are just soo slow and outdated it’s sad.. atleast they have a new chassis/gauge/motor next year. Too bad they will be $25000 out the door lol
@@xGR1MxREAPERx that’s what I mean those Arctic cats look all aggressive until you race them, and most likely any other sled company will eat that sled
This video is Cap. No one picks an arctic cat to make a “dream build” lol.. get out of here lol..
It’s hard to tell if your being serious
Cats work very good here in Montana.
@@Jesus.7081 cats are old and outdated and slow… serious as a heart attack why would I write that if I didn’t mean it
@@xGR1MxREAPERx what 😂 “outdated, old, and slow! I mean your right if you get a 440 older year but the newer years are by no means slow or outdated just depends on the trim level and year
@@Jesus.7081 if you compare these old ass 2022 arctic cat 800 sleds to a new 850 Polaris or skidoo they feel like 440’s bro.. I hope to god the new 858 is a reliable powerful engine.. they are only 5 years behind like usual.. next year skidoo and Polaris will have a even newer engine and Arctic cat will have this engine for 20 years now… it’s pathetic.
Nice work. Love the all green. Where did you get those ski/floor protectors?
Thanks man appreciate it! They are from tracks USA. shop.tracksusa.com/Ski-Boots-detail.htm?productId=-3387813&catalogId=-3769&fpg=1
What bar and bar riser size did you go with?
Running the Turcotte bar with a 2.5” riser. I originally had a 2” riser but much prefer the 2.5”
skidoo and polaris both make sleds that just come like this,
No one’s concerned about skidoo and Polaris here son..🤦♂️🤦♂️
cant believe they still around. super kool. i thought this video was 20 years old when i seen arctic cat.
Operation Meow Meow complete congrats bro.
Beautiful rig, but no Alpha rail :( Have fun!
I had a alpha prior to this sled. I wanted to go twin rail for this build due to better handling in poor snow conditions. I am hoping to give a alpha rail a try again in the near future though
Nice looking sled dude.
Thanks man!!
I read arctic cat dream sled in the title and I immediately was interested, love seeing this keep it up!
Cool man and thank you!! Yeah it seems there’s not many cat builds out there! But been on cat since a kitty kat lol
@@projectpowersports any plans for a catalyst?
@@JackTruitt there might be one sitting in the shop right now. 😎 My dad bought one I’m definitely excited to try it out and compare the two sleds.
I’ve got a 19 ZR 8000 ltd. Started with BDX aka SSI’s stage one and it was great for two years but then I got too used to it so before last season I upgraded to their stage 2 kit. Wow that Jawz pipe plus tune really woke it up. No changes for this season other than more seat time. Congrats on your sled and build. Ssi is only 30 minutes from me in Cannon Falls, Mn, so I got a chance to chat with them when I purchased the parts. They are extremely nice and a wealth of knowledge. Much better than SLP or Speedwerx, which I have used in the past on Polaris trail sleds. Cheers!
That’s cool to hear man! Glad you are enjoying their kits. I think BDX really does a nice job with their products. I’ve chosen to keep my engine stock for now since I’m still on the beginner side of mountain riding! I’m sure your ZR is a sweet rig! Thanks for the comment!
Great video. Good job
where do you buy your snowflap??
It’s part of BDX’s rear bumper kit. I’m sure If you called them they would sell you one seperate from the bumper. www.bd-xtreme.com/index.php?id_product=1533&controller=product
SWEET BUILD
Thank you!
Cool mediocre toy build.
Nice
Nice work man! Looking very professional and high quality!
Thanks man appreciate it!!
Awesome man. Now you can trade it in for a Polaris and really have fun lol
Probably the only thing I truly miss after moving south is riding these. Although, I was also into old school Ski Doos and Yamahas... fun times!
Have your clutches balanced ! Stock isn’t perfect !
I’d have gone SLP Performance Edition motor first , cheaper I bet ? About $2600 dollars , not counting shipping both ways , love my motor
