I had a dream the other night that I had my red 1989 manual transmission Ford Festiva L again. I was ecstatic in my dream. Once you've had a Festiva it will come back to you in dreams for the rest of your life.

I had a 1989 Ford Festiva. I bought it in 1989 and kept it until 2007. I waxed it religiously so the outer body still looked great but by the end there were fatal rust problems underneath (I live in a part of Canada where we salt heavily). I LOVED THAT LITTLE NERD CAR! If I had to do it again I'd get regular oil sprays. My boss just got rid of her 1989 Toyota Tercel. She said that she had it oil sprayed every year for the first 5 years and then never again. She had no serious rust problems, she just wanted a new vehicle.

When I open and take off the metal cover I know the main switch will be in the off position because I did itv3 yrs ago. So the two plugs you referenced will be plugged in and I unplug them correct? If so can you explain how the 12v battery recharges itself with no alternator? Thanks and sorry for long winded questions

Thanks for creating this tribute to the Festiva. I owned a '93 Festiva L with the 4-speed manual. Very basic but it had beautiful metallic blue paint. I just needed a second car for commuting to work and it served very well. Of all the cars I've owned I remember the Festiva more fondly than just about any other.

Will the key fob work ok with the new start stop switch or will it have to be reprogrammed?

Anyone with a Honda CRZ (2013), is the process similar or more complicated with the CR-Z?

This worked on my base model 2015 manual 1.6L Kia Soul. My issues started with the car not wanting to start when it wasn't cold. I could hit the gas pedal to get it to barely start, but then my tachometer stopped working too. Oh I also had the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) light on my dash, which looks like a car with tire marks behind it. I replaced the sensor like in the video, had to remove my negative battery terminal twice because the first time I didn't leave it disconnected long enough. Anyway after that the car started right up fine, tachometer working great, and no check engine lights or codes. I ran the car for like 5 minutes down the road to get it up to temp. I shut the car off and restarted it without issues. This video helped a ton. Thank you! Just make sure you get the old rubber ring off before you put the new one in, because I saw a post on a forum where someone didn't, and that extra millimeter of difference was causing issues.

My Kia does crank no start and just click instead of the engine turn over. Do you think replacing the fuel injectors will help resolve this problem?

This car was produced in Iran until 2020. Its engine injector in 2003 and was produced under the Saipa brand After 2006 with name Saba(sedan) and Nasim(hotchback same design festiva) I have the 2017 sedan model of this car, and here we Iranians use this car a lot.

I just finished fixing my Pilot about ten minutes ago. It took me about twenty minutes to complete and that was largely just from finessing the plastic cover off and about ten minutes trying to get my hands behind the paneling to disconnect the engine button. Next time I’m getting my kids to fix this. They have small hands.

I bought an exact car that is in this video except mine is red. 4 spd, no a/c but dont need it on Oregon coast, it had a warped head, replaced that and drove for a while, until it started raining. She leaked pretty bad (old seals), She has a little rust and recently the carb started acting up, so I awaiting a carb adapted, going to install a weber 32/36 carb so my milage will be dropping. The best mileage I ever got with this car was 33mpg in town, not too bad, I am expecting that will be lower with the carb swap, but i'll bet she move alot better! Overall a great little car, it is scary to drive amongst all the 4x4 trucks around here, so the next "safety" feature will be a train horn install, that will be fun! One thing I did do was remove the rear seat and am thinking on removing the passenger seat as well (more space for stuff). The reason I removed the rear seat was when I had passengers in the rear I would bottom out when hitting any bump, so get rid of the rear seat, no more problem. Great video!!

One could add wire loom if they are concerned with shafing the wires. I used to install video recording hardware in the trunk of squad cars. We would push power cabel through the firewall to a center consol to power everything from the consol with a 15 minutes accesiry delay device that kept equipment powered for 15 minutes after the squad car was turned off. Then from that councle, power fused again and routed underneith the carpet along the driver side front and doors to behind the rear seat and into the trunk where the video recording equipment was mounted. I just bought my 2019 kia soul. While i dont think i will have need to power my center councle, i might still route the power through through firewall to the interor inder the door trim all the way back, to minimize wire shafing against the fame and body, and minimize road grime. Or, if i route it underneith, ill definitely add wire loom.
