Switch out Guardian with Ranger. Firebrand is basically dead outside of fractals and even there you usually see Heal Chrono. DH is just a worse pSlb. cWb is nice I guess, but not enough to keep Guardian in the Top 3. One saving grace might be the Core Hammer Autoattack 1 button build. Ranger meanwhile has Druid, arguably the best solo healer. It has Soulbeast, the best pDPS if any Burst in needed and a braindead easy double Shortbow condi variant. And Untamed with it's near immortal Open World Build and Quickness Green Fart Machine.

I adore willbender personally. I solo things on that I never dreamed of on my weaver and with way more average DPS to boot. That said I always feel more useful on Chronomancer in general, but Willbender can throw out Alacrity really well nowadays thanks to Pistol being so good at proccing virtues.

I really like your take here, i know some spec and build are not the best or unhinged/off meta but guardian, mesmer and revenant can do all off them im talking about any dps, any boon dps, any boon heal its just those build have a wall like heal scourge needing todo a walk of shame just too provide a stability and so on. but if the fight dont need a specific thing on a spec then you can play them as long as it can do the job or reach good damage.

I am looking for some fun easy alternatives. I usually play deadeye dual pistol, just spamming 3 on auto repeat- it never runs out of energy. After each kill i can re-steal and get boons. + signet healing + relic of zakiros. Keeps me alive over others, so i can focus on dodging circles and ressurecting downed players, or just stand afk if the fight is easy. Single player mobs die instantly and i can get half my health back in 5 seconds. I just love pistols, what would be another proffesion that has a nice pistols build ? Or for harder metas like inner nayos inside end boss - i would like a necro build that can keep healing downed players, since they keep falling like dominos, while the fire circles around them.

Oh its here! Thanks for the video! Interesting hearing your thoughts on the different builds, this ended up being within what I expected from the 2024 meta. It will be interesting if the devs ever shake up the meta with more balance changes, but without getting new elite specs with the way the devs are making the new expansions I expect the current meta to last for several years.

Scourge low CC? You couldn't be more wrong. 200 on Pistol/Warhorn, another 200 on Torch 5. Golem charge deals 200 but depending on the size of the hitbox can hit multiple times dealing 200 each time. Finally you can bring Spectral Grasp and stand in the enemies hitbox and if all five pulls hit them it'll do 750 defiance damage. The only weakness of Scourge as a healer imo is stab but it more than makes up for it with the ranged revive and downstate pull on F4. Scourge has a insane carry potential in raid pugs or low exp groups but drops off as the group performs better. Healbrand is the opposite. It lacks the big green heal numbers you see from other healers and requires everyone to be aware of the mantra size/radius so boons are up kept. Inexperienced HB players struggle to maintain even boon spread and appropriate stab/aegis application requires that you already know the fight very well. A well organized and experienced group that uses HB to its fullest potential can pick and choose how to engage with particular mechanics. For example I've used it to aegis every platform wide fireball on Q1 CM completely negating that mechanic. Outside of particular use cases I never see HB played in raids and rarely see it in fractal pugs anyone. Guardian has really fallen off recently and to call it the king of healers is simply not true anymore. Lots of heal scourge, chrono, HAM, druid, and herald in fractals and raids these days.

6:00 The Harbinger is pretty cool too. It can be played as either Power or Condi and Quickness or pure DPS without having to use concentration gears. Plus, Harb is also one of a few ranged Power DPS left in the game.

Mesmer is the best class. Who knew having your damage on your weapon skills and allowing a class to actually use utility slots as flexible utility would be engaging and fun. However. Necro but specifically Power Reaper is the best Open World build. Spectral Grasp is just too good. Pulling 5 things from so far away feels so much better than hopping mob to mob. But that’s just me 🤷‍♂️

One question that im asking before watching the video - What and why do you think holds people back from being able to make their own builds? Like there is a lot of complexity in the game design but i feel like not following a build heavily negatively affects the gameplay experience (Open world in particular when nobody is on the map). How would you make it so users could have more fun in builds?

id say ranger, it is still the king of power dps, even more so in fractals, druid is propably the best raid heal atm, has access to multiple condition builds in all 3 specs, and untamed is propably the most busted solo build, which can provide quickness on top of facetanking anything in full dps gear, only thing ranger lacks is adps. Guardian, even tho being my main, has really fallen off, and even tho im still playing it daily, i think its only standout is condi willbender, other specs are either meh or just outshined by better builds that can do the same but better/easier. Revenant, even tho it has okay builds for everything, lets be real....youre not playing anything else than herald or youre throwing

I bought a W1 clear around the HoT time, and I was still a very casual, not understanding the mechanics, player. I did it mainly to help start me off in the leggy armor, and unlock the mastery track. I wanted to get into raids, but couldn’t find a good group because of KP or mastery track needed. Now I am glad to just used my time to help out less experienced group or just causal pug runs. While spending all of my hard earned gold on ecto gambling.

Gw2 is a game that's sorta fueled by passion, no carrot on a stick. Being good at the game takes longer than most MMO gear grinds, and that is the reward for your time, superiority.

This might be off topic but is there a underwater dps builds for aquatic fractal for mesmer ... or maybe i have to follow some advice videos from 12 years ago.

I'm hyped for that video now, I've been playing since End of Dragons as an engi so for me it has to be Engineer/Mechanist since I could do everything with this character since I started playing, and also got to see and experience the rise and fall of the green golem where you would often see 6+ mechs in strikes missions LOL I still laugh when I see the the rifle mech era in the gw2wingman profession popularity page. Now to answer this video's question, I personally like how GW2 does their expansions, but not how they did Living World Seasons for new players, I really like taking a break for a few months and then coming back without having to pay for a subscription, but I think the living world season and how they sell it for new players just feels confusing, I know now we have complete packages that includes LW so thats a start I guess. The gem store, honestly I don't mind any account upgrade purchases but I hate per character purchases like the slot bags and build/gear templates, and also they should just put infinite gathering tools into legendary armory already.

If you’re looking for new book series I’d definitely recommend (1) the first Mistborn trilogy and (2) the first Red Rising trilogy. I haven’t gotten around to their follow up trilogies but absolutely loved those 2.

Silo series was excellent! Have not watched the apple series though. Heard it was ok, but good books almost never turn into good shows.

The monetization approach of GW2 seems fair to me. I feel like the game makes it easy to convert gold to gems. I do buy gems though, because I like supporting my favorite game. Dude, I loved the Old Man’s War series. Might I recommend Ender’s Game and the subsequent books in that series, they are really great too.

Well, sounds like it's time to start tagging up and making my own groups xD Little nerve-wracking to think about, but I guess it's better to take the plunge sooner rather than later. Also, it was great to hear Tokyo Walker again--I associated that song with your videos, and had missed it a little. Also, if you like historical stories and some anime, you may enjoy the /Shogun/ book series by James Clavell (there's a Hulu TV series based on the books that came out recently; haven't seen it, but heard some good things about it). The book series is inspired by the account of William Adams, the only English Samurai, who shipwrecked on the coast of Japan around 1600 AD. Has a lot of politics--not a ton of action for a "samuraI" story, but it's pretty engaging. For the question: I'm not a huge fan of in-game cash shops, but I like the way GW2 handles it--being able to pay gold for gems makes it feel like in-game progress matters for acquiring some of the cosmetic stuff and QoL stuff in the TP (also, it's nice that you can't Pay-to-Win). I've justified buying things out of the TP to support Anet, since there isn't a lot (monetarily) to do to support the game outside of buying the xpacs and LWs. The expansion prices are decent, and I'm willing to pay them because the game doesn't have a subscription. Will say, I've heard some people comment about some potential issues /because/ the game doesn't have a subscription-based service, primarily that their revenue is probably inconsistent--likely why they've switched to an annual expansion system. Someone (maybe it was Laranity?) was doing a comparison of the numbers between FFXIV and GW2, and mentioned that FFXIV, especially with the high story quality of its new xpacs, has a consistently growing playerbase, and (in part) attributed it to the commitment of the subscription-based model. Part of why I love GW2 so much is because it doesn't require a subscription, but I have wondered if a subscription model would benefit it(though, tbh, it would probably be enough of a culture shock to most of us that it'd be a bad move). Hopefully the annual xpacs eventually have the same overall effect that a subscription-model would have.

I don't mind how the gem store does things. Of course we want the game to make money, because if it doesn't... it goes away. The quality of life the store provides is nice as you can buy as you need. Only part I don't like is the per-character unlocks. Buying bag slots for all your characters just doesn't sit right with me. I am a big fan of the cheaper expansion every year system and can see it bringing in a lot of money for the company. Just hope they get their content quantity and pacing right for Janthir Wilds 🤣

The monetisation system for GW2 is honestly about the best you can get in an MMO. They still have a bit too much of the ol pay for convenience with how much comfort bag/bank/resource storage space provide VS how much each other of those upgrades cost in real world money. But with the ability of buying gems for gold, it essentially becomes a non-problem at later stages of the game, and if you have the money to toss at the start of the game to get more bag space then its fair game. So i think even that balances out overall. The cost of the expansions are incredibly fair imho. Maybe even too cheap. But i will not look a gift horse in the mouth

GW2 is best game still, easy to find guide from their wikipage, weekly quests teaching game mechanics to new players, and there's alot guide video on youtube, so what u need more for start to great game, also pve, arena, wvw rly satisfated, if u need help feel free to ask community, they mostly helpfull people really less toxic player in game base

I just recently came back after a 2-ish year break from GW2 and all the meta builds are completely different. I joined a new guild, however I can't join their Raid or WvW groups because none of my 11 level 80 characters have the exact meta build and gear they require everyone to run. Like I'm probably gonna get kicked out of this WvW guild because they're in a big rush for me to join them in WvW, but I can't afford to drop hundreds of gold on a full set of celestial gear, and I haven't unlocked the Elite spec they require me to play, but none of my guildies will help me get HPs to unlock it. This kinda shit is why I never join guilds in MMOs tbh. I'm so done with trying to get into these cliquey guilds full of sweaty tryhards that gatekeep the endgame content. I just want to experience some raids in GW2, but it seems like you absolutely must be a no-lifer in order for the other no-lifers to ALLOW you to do so. Honestly the community is the biggest thing holding this game back imo. Way too much gatekeeping of end game content. THAT is the reason no one plays the endgame, because the toxic sweaty nerds scare people off. I'm honestly considering if I even want to bother with the catchup grind that I'm engaged in right now.

Do you think you should try to relearn some of the boss or game mechanics as a true zero to hero (like CM fracs or raids).
