I don't think you need death magic for this but it certainly helps getting condis off of you. The main reason he nukes himself is because his Malice buff also makes him take conditions each time he gets hit by anything, including minions. You may see that all condis are stacked to "!" level and that wouldn't happen with just sending back a few condis every now and then. So it's basically just a bug, he is supposed to deal conditions when hittting you but without the inverse being applied to him. So by feeding him all teh malice stacks during his breakbar he will just implode.
@@SilhouetteGaming1 As far as I understood it, yes. The Malice buff gives a buff and a debuff to players but when absorbed by the boss is supposed to only give him the buff, making him apply conditions on any attack. Turns out he also takes conditions every attack he receives. The buff reads "Attacks inflict conditions." when on the boss. This could be read both ways, but it is supposed to buff the boss not make him easier to kill. So I assume it's either a bug or some form of miscommunication in the office, can't really blame 'em for that with such ambiguous wording. And just in case that is intended... they better make it unintended before the CM.
its not a bug, he gets the same effect of the orbs as players do, and only does he lose the negatives if he gets off the empower by you not breaking the CC bar.
@@cameirusisu1024 No he does not get the same effects. Malice empowers player CC effects, on the boss it makes him apply conditions. For most of the other buffs he only gets the positive effects. Breaking the CC bar removes a few stacks of the empowerement on the boss depending on which tier (1-4) of the fractal you are on. While the breakbar is active he also drains one stack of attunement per second from players.
Epinuke to the rescue! xD I also recently completed the Silent Surf Fractal for the first time, and that was brutal, mainly cause of the insane health pool of the final boss, so i was dreading doing this with my necro main, but it seems fairly doable, with the same build that i use for strikes, excluding the minion spam of course, this actually makes a lot of sense, and is similar to builds i've used before to nuke some of the harder bosses on scourge, including eparch in the story.
You don't need death magic to do this. The reason this happens is because the malice orbs are bugged and do splash conditions to all targets around him - including himself, instead of just giving them to his target. So when he hits multiple enemies he also gets multiple stacks of condis on himself. This works with chronomancer as well.
Yeah I love to see it. Apparently it's a malice orb bug on the boss, but still exploitable. Wondering if it will be fixed but we will see how reactive Anet is.
I was thinking the other day man this boss is so heavy on condis, if only there was a way to constantly return those to him and then I thought UHM minions...? Nah that's dumb. Hahaha I'm gonna try this with pugs later.
I watched a video yesterday with a necro running Curses / Soul Reaping / Scourge - grabbing green orbs and then all minons hitting 300k tomrnet cause minons were putting condys on Eparch. I think minons are bugged - i don't think it's a death magic trait issue.
It seems like it's related to the Malice condition. I was under the impression it was from death magic. Nevertheless it seems like minions are the way to go on this boss.
Yeah as others have said, it's a bug, and has nothing to do with you attacking. It's been known since day 1 and been directly forwarded to Anet. Eparch hits himself with his own skills, most of them anyway, and he outputs more hits the more enemies (allies) there are, and the condis he applies to himself get due to a bug incorrectly attributed to the players and scale with their stats. You dont even need to attack. The fractal is solo-able with standing AFK taking no actions other than picking up orbs, no need to do any damage. Parasitic Contagion interacts with the damage as well, making you nearly immortal.

@@cameirusisu1024 nice.
I came for some cheese, not disappointed
Yeah it's pretty cheesy lol waiting for the CM want to get the community experienced with it lol
Really fun solution to such a frustrating fractal. You are absolutely the creator that the gw2 community needed. #PARTNERSIL #LONELYNOMORE
Haha, what a compliment! While it was never my intention, I will be applying at some point for partnership just to see what happens lol

Nice. Well hopefully some meaningful changes come to this fractal.
How to make this work with a Chrono?
Thank you good sir
You're welcome 😄
This is fantastic lmao.

I saw other people's videos and was like "NO WAY I GOTTA TRY THAT". It's great.
nice

@@SilhouetteGaming1 Malice! That's it. Yes sir! Sub 1:30 kills.
Necro best class ever
5x necro finally meta in fractals again.
Hell yeah, atleast for this one lol.
ha haha yes.
To be fair, 3 minutes for a boss fight in fractal, even in CM, is completely fine. It's in line with the other fractal bosses.
Sure, if they keep it like this then great, but I don't think they will.
Is it still working?
Nah they patched it.
Was this the bug that was patched out?
Yes like two days ago.
Shhhhh, dont tell em
I'm just tired of pugs being scared of the fractal is all.
Necromancer superiority strikes again
Yes sir! Easy peasy. This time with minions lol

You know this shit is poorly designed when the community has to come with cheese-strats like these...
True it would be nice if more conventional strats worked out. But it seems like the only way to make this boss even remotely reasonable is cheese
