    Thank you for paying attention to the whole person. I got diagnosed with DCIS, stage 0, grade 1, in my right breast on 3/29/2024, following bilateral biopsies. . At first it felt like I was rushed, to see the surgeon, to schedule a date, etc. I decided I needed a 2nd opinion, which was the best thing possible. It gave me time to breathe, to do research on DCIS, to find the decision making tools I need to make treatment decisions. I had a lumpectomy last Thursday (6.13.2024), and waiting for the pathology report is hard. But I have real trust in my team, backed up by the 2nd opinion at Mayo Clinic, so I hope I can move ahead with whatever the next step is. I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, & am used to processing lots of info, but the best thing I've done so far was to slow the process down long enough to get good information, & to be able to manage my anxiety well enough to think straight. I appreciated your straightforward approach, & how important it is for the patient to be seen as a person & to be a partner in decision making.

    I think it is pathetic that med onc and Big Pharma only have more harm to offer us as women who find themselves in this ongoing world of BC, no matter if we have had our breasts amputated! We deserve better. I have researched diet,natural estrogen blockers and supplements to help estrogen metabolism. My onc does not educate at all on diet and exercise. Its criminal. I am a retired RN and very upset how women are treated. I do find it ODD that even thought many BC are also Progesterone Receptive, there is NO mention of what to do about those levels? Could it be Pharma does not have a Poison to offer us for decreasing or blocking Progesterone? I believe that wld also be detrimental to our quality of life. There has to be more to offer us, how about a cure or Prevention !! Pink ribbons, Right!

    I refused hormone treatment. My family doctor advised me to eat ground flaxseed. This was an unusual conversation to have with her. The gynecologist continues to recommend hormones again and again. There are many things in nature that help. As long as it's part of my usual diet, I won't let it stop me. Much of Asian cuisine is good for a healthy life also.

I had 3 types of chemotherapy for 12 treatments. Couldn’t do radiation because of my pacemaker. I was put on aromasin therapy for 10 years. My endo predict is 55% chance of distance recurrence. So, a quick google search of lowest dosage of tamoxifen for breast cancer prevention and recurrence efficacy came up with several papers and studies they've done in Sweden and Britain, of course not the US, where they acknowledge that tamoxifen at 20 and even 10 mg is not efrective bc women stop taking it due to the side effects. So, they studied 1 mg, 2.5 mg, and 5 mg. Turns out that 2.5 mg and 5 mg are just as, if not MORE effective than anything higher bc it doesn't need to be at the brink of toxicity to be effective, bc women suffered less from aide effects, so they actually took the drug for its full course. There you go. As oncologists, you should be freaking googling all this info daily so you can update your SOC to best serve your patients and their families population.

  • @aimeerice4687
    @aimeerice4687 5 месяцев назад

    Yes, a discussion of natural alternatives is critical. Also, with pharmaceutical drugs/meds, they test for max amount that can be prescribed right at the threshold of toxicity. They don't test for minimum amount needed for efficacy, and for routine personal hormonal testing to see if it's even being effective for each particular patient, or if even needed. It's great you mentioned that 10 mg is effective! Testing for lowest dosage needed for efficacy needs to be thrle norm, not the exception. This would ensure lower side effects and increase patient compliance.

    • @learnlooklocate
      @learnlooklocate 4 месяца назад

      I agree that more discussion is so necessary, many people need to openly discuss how they feel about the side effects.

    • @aimeerice4687
      @aimeerice4687 4 месяца назад

      @learnlooklocate I've recently learned about EMA certified studies in Sweden, Italy, and the UK that found 2.g and 5 mg are more effective than anything higher. For 1, there are no side effects, so patients take their medicine and get its benefits. 2. Their studies measured for minimal amount needed for efficacy and found anything greater than 5.mg is actually poisoning the body which is why there are negative effects for most women. They aren't side effects. They are the effects of toxicity.

    Such great information. The only problem is that very few of us have that “go to expert” to help us through this journey of survivorship. I was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Cancer and my treatment has been decided by general surgeons and oncologists that don’t even specialize in breast cancer, let alone lobular cancer. I am trying to gain knowledge through presentations like this, but now I need to find a team of specialists that will work with me on exploring options. The search goes on….

    I fortunately know a lot about cancer because of our family history of cancer 🧬 I’m the 25th (4 generations) on our family cancer tree & the 13th of them being breast cancers 🧬 So at age 40 I had a hysterectomy hoping to avoid breast cancer because I knew the breast cancers were hormone driven 🧬 but, at age 59 (2018) I found a small nodule it was about 4 months after my mammogram 😶 “All” (Including MRI) the tests came back as benign but, I wanted it removed & in recovery, my surgeon noted not to be worried it looked benign but, 4 days later she called that it was cancer & it actually had “2” cancers inside the nodule 🙈😮🥺😳😶 I Needed another surgery to remove the margins, check the lymph nodes & internal radiation 🥴 4.5 yrs later I found another small nodule & again “all” tests came back as benign but, again I wanted it out (My drs thought I was being over cautious )…The surgeon agreed to remove it & this time pathology hadn’t come back in 4/5 days & noted they needed to run more tests & we’re considering a second opinion 😶 It was cancerous & had mutated / didn’t look like the first one 🧬 So, I chose a DMX with reconstruction / completed July 14th 2023….I was due to start the hormone blockers & I was going to start them after the holidays but, if what if I end up with a lot of side affects…I will discontinue 🙏🏻 Then just before the holidays we found out my oldest daughter 47 yrs old had a breast biopsy came back as cancer (She only had a partial hysterectomy / never had kids) 😭 She’s the start of the 5th generation 💔 My mom had ovarian cancer at 36 (Hysterectomy) & breast cancer at 46 (Single mastectomy) & just turned 94 in October 💝😉🥳🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 (She had only had a partial) 😶🧬💝🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Be your own advocate….if your feeling off // get it checked out & don’t just swallow “it’s nothing” & well just watch it 🥴😶😳🙏🏻 About half of the breast cancers in our family & including my daughter have gone through genetic testing & come up negative 😶🤔🥺😩🧬🧬🧬🙏🏻

      A DUTCH test measures estrogen metabolites as well as progesterone, and testosterone. Hormones also affect immunity so reducing all estrogen lowers immunity. DIM and D-calcium glucarate also reduce estrogen but are natural and don't have side effects. Why don't conventional doctors measure the estrogen levels to make sure our immune system is not decreased? Estrogen blockers are like statins, they can lower cholesterol too far causing harm.
