  • learnlooklocat... 🌹 I met Cynthia through her work with Learn Look Locate through Dr. Yara Robertson, who is one of our medical advisors at Not Putting on a Shirt, and also is one of Cynthia's medical advisors at Learn Look Locate. So, we're working together because Learn Look Locate is a great platform for comprehensive information about all things related to breast cancer, and going flat after mastectomy is one of those things.
It's very important. She helps us get the word out. My organization, Not Putting on a Shirt, is on Cynthia's global flatties page. So for more information, you can go there. I started not putting on a shirt when I was denied a flat closure at Cleveland Clinic by a surgeon who thought I would change my mind about implants. That was what started my protesting.
Eventually we grew into a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit and our mission is to advocate for optimal aesthetic flat closure as the standard of care for women going flat after mastectomy. We provide tools and resources to help women advocate for their choice and to make the choice in the first place, you know, there's a lot of considerations when you're making your reconstructive decision and it helps to hear from women who have been there before and can tell you how they made their decision and how they feel about it afterwards.
Kimberly Bowles, a breast cancer survivor, shares her personal experience with Aesthetic Flat Closure through a series of videos. Her candid discussions address her journey, the impact of her choice on her life, and the issue of flat denial. Flat denial occurs when a surgeon’s unilateral actions deny their patient the agreed-upon flat closure, either through negligence or intentional disregard.
Through her advocacy work and partnership with the nonprofit organization, Not Putting on a Shirt, Kimberly is dedicated to raising awareness about this beautiful choice for women after a mastectomy. The organization focuses on advocating for optimal surgical outcomes for women who choose to go flat after mastectomy.
By sharing her experience and raising awareness about flat denial, Kimberly hopes to inspire and educate others about the beauty and strength found in choosing Aesthetic Flat Closure. Her videos not only provide valuable insights but also create a supportive community for all those affected by breast cancer.

    About Learn Look Locate LLC
Cynthia Jordan, Founder of Learn Look Locate LLC in 2018 has generated a global movement to provide critical education for the early detection of breast cancer. It is estimated that one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. While most of these cases are diagnosed in women over the age of 50, the disease can affect women of any age. Early detection is critical to survival, yet many women are not familiar with the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.
We advocate the importance of self-breast exams, what to look for when performing a self-exam, and when to see a doctor. We provide resources for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as for their families and friends.
The five-year survival rate for women who catch their cancer early is nearly 100%. Here’s an important statistic. Many women do not perform self-breast exams or see a doctor for regular screenings. Learn Look Locate LLC wants to highlight the work of organizations around the world that are working to promote early detection of breast cancer. We will feature stories of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and share their journeys.
There are several ways to diagnose breast cancer, including mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasounds. Once breast cancer is diagnosed, there are a few treatment options available, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. The best way to treat breast cancer is to catch it early and to get the best treatment possible.
There is a strong community of women who have been affected by breast cancer. In addition, there are a number of organizations and resources available to help women find the support they need.
Learn Look Locate LLC provides resources for women who want to get involved in the fight against breast cancer.
