TIGHT Street Running Middletown & Hummelstown Freight Train
Просмотров 40514 дней назад
There's not many videos of it, but the Middletown and Hummelstown regularly runs freight down the street in Midddletown. Today ALCO S-6 powers a short consist of tank cars out to the interchange near the Amtrak station. Once the job is done, the locomotive returns to its shed and fits in by just a matter of inches. This is one of the most unique freight operations out there and I'm glad I got t...
Exploring the INACTIVE Uniontown Railroad Tracks
Просмотров 7 тыс.Месяц назад
Uniontown, Pennsylvania was once traversed by two paralleling rail lines, one owned by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and another owned by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Overtime, the PRR lines have slowly been abandoned and dismantled, leaving only faint traces and distant memories in their place. The Uniontown Industrial Track is the last remaining PRR trackage in town, although it too is seemin...

Chasing Norfolk Southern Local V93 Around Harrisonburg
Просмотров 983 месяца назад
Recorded January 2024 Norfolk Southern V93, technically part of the Chesapeake Western, is the local that runs from Harrisonburg VA to the interchange with the Shenandoah Valley Railroad in Pleasant Valley VA. In early 2024, I chased it as it switched out an industry in Pleasant Valley, interchanged with the SVRR, and returned to Harrisonburg. In the afternoon, I caught V94 trekking north to Br...
Chasing one of the FINAL Winchester and Western Sand Trains
Просмотров 1734 месяца назад
The sand mine in Gore has been a steady customer for the Winchester and Western Railroad for many decades. In January 2024, the sand mine would close and leave the Sandman Branch (the only WW line actually west of Winchester) devoid of any customers outside of Winchester. This was recorded just a few weeks before the final sand train departed from Gore.
Exploring the INACTIVE Rails of the Waynesburg Southern Branch
Просмотров 13 тыс.4 месяца назад
The Waynesburg Southern Branch, originally part of the Monogahela Railway, was once a busy rail line that transported coal out of mines in northern West Virginia. Today, all the mines are closed and no customers remain on the line. As the tracks crawl deeper into the Appalachian mountains, dilapidation and neglect grow more evident. Norfolk Southern, owners of this line, haven't technically "ab...

Long Freight Train on the Buckingham Branch Railroad | Staunton, Virginia
Просмотров 2906 месяцев назад
It's a cold day in Staunton, so cold in fact the switches have frozen in place. Once the BB crew is able to melt the switch, the locomotives move to the SVRR yard, where they pick up (as I was told by a local) the longest cut of cars they've ever received from the SVRR. Once the BB is done, the SVRR moves out to begin their day on the railroad.
RARE 45° Crossbucks Still Standing in West Virginia!!
Просмотров 1308 месяцев назад
45° Crossbucks were the standard signage at railroad crossings half a century ago. Today, they are rarely found outside of museums and tourist rail lines. Check out this one still standing on the Norfolk Southern Loveridge Secondary! I suspect this may be a remnant of the days when the Monongahela Railroad operated this line. I also took a trip to the Beech Mountain Railroad in hopes of catchin...

great video
I was at Buckingham Branch railroad on the weekend that you were there
Hi! What did you do for the roads?
smooth it
Great catches!
Very nice! Do they run freight on any sort of predictable schedule or is it all as needed?
@@henrym8280 as needed
The overlays really go a long way to make this great to watch and share
I thought they were going to hit the roof at the end!
that brick building is really close to the tracks at the start of the video, and those upper level openings are big. I bet it had some kind of winches up there sometime in the past and would pull cargo up off flatbeds right off the train. of course could also just be how the track had to go but I could just picture a hardware store in the 1800s in some small town unloading right from a train.
There is an abandoned line that ran from Wheeling to Washington, PA. If you drive US40 east from Wheeling you can find the flat spot. There's a bridge over I-70 just east of the US40 exit that's part of the road.
Great video. Thanks for coming over and filming 🎥 our M&H RR 151. The snow will be back soon.
I rode the rdc car when the fayette central ran
Grew up north of this area in the 1960's & 70's. I love these type of videos! If rails could talk. 🤔
06:45 I'm surprised through the years no one's tried to steal those vintage iron crossbucks Those date back to the 40s
Lehigh Valley pa would be first to get rail service restored
Excellent video my friends awesome 😊awesome 😮Greeting 😁 👋🏻 from Argentina 🇦🇷 suscribete
Outstanding documentation and graphics. A production for the ages!
cool vid... and @ 6:40... you know it's the beginning of the end when they break out the asphalt
Very nicely done; I love the way you've put together several elements, that in my opinion, make any micro-documentary well worth watching. To start, and this is, unfortunately, frequently overlooked: you dwell on the shot long enough for the viewer to get a good, long look. Next, each scene is shot with a tripod, segued one into the next...beautiful; the "man on the street" productions where the camera is constantly in motion are horrible...some dang near give you vertigo. Your written commentary is succinct and informative. Last but not least, you don't make the video about you but let the content speak for itself. It seems every other bozo on RUclips wants to be the star of their video and can't get enough of their mug in the shots. This is the first of your content I've seen...I'll be looking for more. Thanks
It would be cool if they brought passenger rail service back on that line again
Great video,thanks
At the 2:30 mark within the last few weeks SWP actually cleared all the brush and laid new rail and ballast to get back to 84 lumber.
@@JandJTrains thanks for the update!
@4:45 there was ALOT more goin on there back in the day, sad to see they ripped up the rest of that area. Loved how you did the back in time effect.
My dad worked on the redstart me branch from Brownsville to Uniontown back in the early fifties. I remember tacking pictures back in the late 70s. The track was still there up until about 1980. Three were several coal mines between Brownsville and Uniontown. Much of the Redstone Branch also paralleled the Wezt Penn interurban line too . The lines actually crossed each other at least once.
Trump will reactivate this track if reelected!
No he won't 😂
Look at all those huge 30 ton steel I-beams just sitting there abandoned Think of all the METH you could buy if you can get a truck with a grapple arm and an oxy-acc welding tank
Great vid. Just like most every other town in this region, nothing left.

Pretty sure that B&O Alco was for sale 2-3 years ago
Do you know what going to happen to it? Just in cold storage prob?
@@hamiltonsullivan6563 No clue. I know it was for sale, and now no longer is, but I'm not sure who bought it (or if it even sold). When it was for sale it was mostly operational.
Very Cool!!!
Great video. Lots of info. Thanks
Remember any time is train time
The old excursion shot inserted was a great touch. Well done.
Nice catches! 😎 👍
Yes an excruciating train would make sense
Great video. Thanks 👍❤️
Our government's policies have done a magnificent job of destroying communities and jobs for the so-calle Green Era. Meanwhile China and India open more coal mines for electric power while we deindustrialize.
very well documented. Thanks. Years ago I began my rail career switching a paper mill. Sad to see so many closed down
I like how you made five guys open up in an old KFC
Thanks for the video, could watch these videos for days!!!!
Are you ever gonna go out there and record a train on this line when GSMR starts running trains on it?
@@UnstoppableRailfan yes!
BEAUTIFUL RS--11!!!
Nothing more sad than an abandoned rail line and equipment, especially alcos.....
Nice video, V93 is actually based out of Shenandoah though
Very cool! A lot of this footage is along Codorus Creek, perhaps? I don't know York well, but I've railfanned the little yard by Loucks Mill Road. Thanks for sharing! 👍
Is he a militarian why do we need a day to honor that old fart
Great catch! Tanker trains are my favorite
Sometimes a major rr like NS decides a line does not have enough traffic to be profitable. Often a secondary line will lease or buy the line and continue operation (at a profit). In this case, not so much. Good video and nice scenery.
