Scale RC Experience
США
Добавлен 21 ноя 2013
Find reviews, RC builds, tips and tricks, RC tech about scale RC cars and trucks. I've been into the hobby for almost twenty years and started out in the bashing side of the hobby but it didn't take me long to be drawn to crawlers and scale RC vehicles, most of the content here will be about the scale side of the hobby. Trail trucks, crawlers, some on road cars and a couple drifters. If it's scale and it looks realistic I'm all about it.

Custom Wheels and Tires for the 1/16 WPL D12 mini
Просмотров 9749 месяцев назад
Cheap and easy mod to add custom wheels to the 1/16 D series trucks, this will not work for the 1/10 WPL D series trucks as those have 5mm hexes and screws to mount the wheels, this is for the smaller press fit wheels. Get your D12 mini here www.wpl-rc.com/?ref=p08bs60j

WPL C24 quick run in rocks and hill climb
i have the glacier and i love it and i'm going to buy one more and build it into a dually
Love your wpl 😊you can see she'll walk right over any rock 🤠💪👍
Keep spraying hard tyre's with wd40 , over time it attacks the rubber making them much softer /sticky
Best thing for stability is approx 10x .22 lead airgun pellets in each tyre 😊, my mn99 would roll over so i did this and she is so stable, the pellets always stay at the bottom of wheel low C.O.G
Beautiful scale , i love how they have the filler tube shown in reae deck otherside of filler cap , and i can see and hear its got plenty of torque,we've come far technology wise ,I remember my mum buying me nightrider rc 1980 and that wouldn't move on a carpet 😅
Thanks for sharing your idea!!
Good idea. AliExpress and eBay has a DIY mini receiver board with a small handheld controller for like $5 or less for those that doesn’t have a extra channel
Keren
Did you move the steering servo?
Very nice work! I would lile to use 97mm long Injora axles. The original WPL ones are 105mm long. I want to add 27mm wide tires on 1,55 rims. Will it work? What do you think?
Nice 👍🏾
I got mine today and WOW I am impressed with it especially after I installed the new sticky tires it climes up my chest and over my shoulder I love it I upgraded the esc transmitter awsome
What is the jeep in the back?
It's a custom chassis Tamiya YJ Wrangler built by a friend, total custom build.
Awesome Review Video. been looking at TWS VTG80 for a while.
These trucks aren’t really meant for the kinda rock crawling shown in the first example. These trucks are ideal for scale trail driving. Part of the fun of building these little trucks for me is preparing spots in nature that I can return to and drive around/record clips.
I totally agree with you, just did it to see what they'll do, I'm also more into the scale side of the hobby.
the true issue with these truck both the mn 87 and 78, i have the 78, is the gear ratio. even with a 43T 370 motor and good esc the low end torque is really bad so what i ended up doing is getting those aftermarket WPL single speed gearboxes which much lower gearing and the thing performs 10X better, plenty of torquer with no throttle input
I did this exactly when building my 4x4 D12 and I was very pleased with the results. Decent top end speed for trailing and good torque for incline driving.
That would work great!
Beware painting the interior of MN trucks, the plastic they use isn’t ABS it’s polyethylene which nothing adheres to it, not super glue or paint. However you can treat it. It’s a few steps that are tedious but they work. Firstly you have to flame the plastic with a blowtorch, fast enough so it doesn’t melt, this will open up the polymers promoting better adhesion and will also make the mold release which is impregnated to the plastic come to the surface. Then you use scotch bright to roughen the surface followed by a 99.9% ipa bath. When painting make sure to use a rest strong primer and only then the paint will adhere to the plastic. If you don’t even the best primers I have just flake right off
Thanks for the tip!
would you suggest mn82 or mn99?

Great video great info 👍👍👍 I just bought both couldn’t decide
So if i get wpl 30amp esc, i need to get something else too? Its not just plug and play?
Unfortunately no, I eventually upgraded all of it, but in order to run that esc you'll need a radio and receiver, I use Flysky but any bargain radio will work, just find something with a small receiver.
That's a beautiful little truck!
I think so too!
Great channel my friend! I watched a number of your videos tonight. Subscribed! Aloha from Maui 😎🤙🏽
Thank you I really appreciate it!
Does it have brass steering links?
No, it does not, it really doesn't need much more weight to be honest, does pretty well as is to be honest.
Nice and informative video.
Glad you liked it!
Hello, Congrats for the building and video! I would have a question regarding what parts I should use if I would like to strengthen the suspension without conversion to 4 links (i have 2 spring leaf broken in 1 week)? i know that I have to buy the c34 shock absorbers and type 1 brass balls but the truss that I see on wpl site is dedicated to the conversion. I think I need to go with something from aliexpress...but what should I choose? Thank you, Aurel
I would seriously consider doing the 4 link conversion, yes I know it's not scale to the vehicle but the 4 link setup is much more reliable.
@@SRCE2070 yeah, maybe moving to 4 links is the right move but I really like the leafs. It keeps the originality
I three of these system in my 1/10 crawlers. I love of.
I have 3 or 4 myself and they are really nice!
@SRCE2070 Thanks for a fantastic and detail review. Sorry i have a few questions that i hope you might be able to help. For the WPL esc, is it plug and play with the MN tx/rx? And does it bring out more low end torque of the MN motor? It is lacking a bit with stock set up. Also, for the dog bone brass bushing, do you mean pushing it further into the plastic sleeve of the dog bone? Mine hasn’t broke yet but might want to tighten it first before it came loose or cracked? Thanks in advance.😊
You would have to use a new transmitter and receiver for the WPL esc, I use a hacked Flysky gt3b, Using 3s with the WPL esc really brings the stock motor to life, Yes you would want to push the brass bushing outward closer to the wheel.
@@SRCE2070 thanks for the response. Will be looking around for a set of tx/rx
Thanks for the video and the insightful commenting. Really appreciate your content. It's a shame how the incline of the rock area is so hard to judge when seen 2D on a flat screen. The steps give an indication though.
Thanks for watching!
👍
1st to watch
Thanks it's appreciated!
Those are super scale. Nice 👍🏾
hallo, where i can buy? have some link like tokopedia or shopee?
This is where I got mine www.ebay.com/itm/253194797960
@@SRCE2070 thank you very much sir🙏🏻
I need to do the 4link, i keep breaking the leaf springs😢
It's definitely a more stout setup, not as scale but better for crawling.
Thanks. Looking forward to the video. That little FJ40 looks amazing too by the way. Is that a custom body on a 1/24 chassis?
The FJ40 has a hard body on it from The Hardbody crawler co. yes it's on a scx24, I will probably doing a video on that in the near future as well.
@@SRCE2070 Thanks. Looking forward to that.
Anyone know the size of those tires he put on the Fcx18?
When I get home Sunday I'll give you a measurement.
They are Little guy racing products Trail kings I measured them at 63mm
I’m hooked on the injora line of tires also
Their new smaller crawler tires ROCK!
I'm considering buying this RC, because this is my first time getting into the RC hobby. is the electronics stock strong in the long term if we play it right? If it's rarely used, does it break quickly like an ESC error?
I would honestly upgrade the esc, I didn't have any luck with the earlier MN Models escs lasting, I haven't ran the stock red one long enough to know but it's getting upgraded too.
@@SRCE2070Unfortunately I don't have more budget. My budget is very limited, so after spending money on this RC I can't upgrade.
@@jitihunt21 buy the $12 dollar Wpl esc I have linked in description it works great, 3s 30amp
@@SRCE2070thank you
I like them all, that’s my problem. They keep making them i will keep buying them. Few mods and they awesome ,great video.
There's so many good choices out now, it's hard to choose, thanks for the compliment!
Awesome Tutorial and Great info share my Friend ❤ Thks 🎉
Thank you!
You're welcome my Friend ❤ Big thanks for the info
where is the front bumper from mate? thanks!
It's there, it's the optional WPL tube bumper.
I used to race, so my big tip for OIL SHOCKS is to get a lot of plastic shock piston discs for dampening experimentation. Usually they'll have two holes, but you can notch triangles into the opposite side edges to increase flow to make spongier shocks (10w oil) w/ softer springs so that driving at speed over terrain will look floaty and realistic instead of bouncy. #oilshocks
Haven't figured out which shocks I'm gonna use yet, but yes I agree
@@SRCE2070 perhaps see how much maximum travel you can get out of it if you can find alternate front mounting points.. have the resting position midway to get the best articulation and least stress on the driveshaft.
Is the link rod measurement from hole to hole?
Yes, or eye to eye as I call it, wpl links for lowers and aftermarket for uppers that I have a link for.
@@SRCE2070 thank you very much, you are very helpful
Dang dude, great content! Keep up! 💪
Thanks!
Super cool. I want to buy a Suzuki , and your video Is very good and practical with the pieces and upgrade. You can share the spare parts list, please.
You should find what you need in this video, any questions please ask ruclips.net/video/2IVp8-No5u4/видео.html
I’m new to the hobby and I just bought 4 of these c74’s for me and my folks! This was great info and thank you for the links brother!
@makeshiftmotorco4413 For the price these are great rigs, upgrades are eventually needed but the upgrades are even reasonably priced, I've been into RC for around 20 years and believe me, save the aggravation and do your research for upgrades, for the most part WPL has the better upgrades, most aftermarket ebay stuff doesn't work without alot of tweaking.
Muito bom o vídeo amigo está bem realista, só está faltando um detalhe o personagem porque o carro está parecendo um fantasma andando é uma opinião amigo,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😍🤩
Thanks
Hell I’m still waiting on my mn82 was wondering what kind of tires you used for the upgrade? I’m also waiting on metal drive shaft n axels up grade.
On the yellow truck I used WPL first version soft kit tires on WPL C34/44 wheels, I have foams in the front and weights in the back two, these tires, wheels, weights, and foams are available on the official WPL website. However I'm testing some new Injora tires that I will be reviewing soon on the yellow truck, they are hands down better than this setup.
The Glacier is now at $90 on fairrc (half the price of the FCX18).👍😊 It has an interior and front under fenders that are both missing on the K10. It also has a scale chassis more accurate than the FCX18 K10's. Not a bad RC truck. It hasn't the same purpose as the K10. Not made for rock crawling job. The ESC and transmitter are rubbish. Must be replaced by those from the FCX24. Then, this Glacier can be a nice scale truck. That's what i'm working on (i have one).😉
I like the Glacier for what it is, but it needs a few things to be up to snuff, it has a bit better scale detail as you said, the Glacier needs all metal gears to reliable over time, I've had them for over a year but have yet to install them, and yes a better esc and oil filled shocks but at that point you are probably at about the same price for the K10 if not maybe a touch more.
Seen a guy cut the wires on the turn signals but that might cut the circuit ... 4wd ya don't use blinkers.hahahahaha
Yeah I seen that too, I don't know if I'm gonna mess with it just yet, doesn't bother me that much but I'm sure it'll get on my nerves at some point lol
