Steve's Travels
Добавлен 15 окт 2006
Tired of being a slave to greedy and manipulative governments / businesses , I sold everything and began travelling around Thailand looking for the best cities to live in.
My ideals of the best city would be
1. Low cost of living
2. Great food / coffee
3. Good quality facilities
4. low crime rate
5. Beautiful clean environment
Conclusion
As of May 2016, NO city in Thailand is suitable for long term living.

A reliable Japanese made motorcycle, impressive top end acceleration, sports bike handling, slick gearbox and a comfortable everyday bike. Fuel economy is 47 mpg for city riding and 67 mpg for highway cruising.

@@garyadams2822 Only done 2,000km after 1 year of ownership, just looking at my bike everyday brings joy 🙂

‘Suzuki did something with the exhaust’ ? Doesn’t it say Kawasaki on the tank ? 🤷♂️ 😅
Error, ignore the suzuki remark😄
nice video
Just got mine 2 weeks ago, buying it used with only 500kms on the clock. The previous owner had mounted a radiator guard, sliders, carbon copy mudguard and hugger, and I'm slowly getting rid of the Chinese tat that was put on by replacing the sliders with R &G as well as engine case covers and stainless bar ends. The bike is a beauty, the engine is gorgeous, and it handles beautifully. It now has 2000 kms on the clock
@@brianrobson9408 They handle beautifully and great on the open road, good buy👍
4:03 bike by Kawasaki, exhaust by Suzuki ?? Never heard of that before. And a digital tac and speedo would be sacrilege on a retro.
Unscripted videos 😅, the exhaust is Kawasaki. Kawasaki could learn a bit from triumph bikes, retro is hard to modernize.
Can this bike have the fairing?
No, Kawasaki discontinued the 'cafe model' years ago.
@@cabralad Yes it sucks for you in the UK. I really wonder why they did. Still for sale in the US.
I’m buying one next year. Can’t wait🎉
Fantastic, that's if kawasaki still makes them.
That's a nice bike for sure. I'll be moving up to the z900rs soon. I'm in Adelaide too so I'll keep an eye out for this thing on the streets.
That's great news for you, I wish kawasaki made the SE with the z1000 motor and renamed the bike z1 rs. Happy riding👍
is there a "cat" on the pipes?
Yes, it is noticeable from the left side of bike.
I have the '22 model. I like it for a good street bike that is sensible and plenty fast enough, with great suspension and brakes. Personally I would have preferred the root beer colour but the SE - package tipped the scales for me - performance is more important than colour. You can also get heated grips from Kawasaki as an accessory - Nice to have here in Canada. Good luck with the bike , enjoy and keep the rubber side down.
It's a nice ride on the highway as well, I don't have the heated grips but I may get them fitted when winter arrives.
I got mine yesterday! Same color, same spec 2024. I'm looking forward to riding it when it gets warm. I live in the U.S., and I think I'm one of the first ones to get one.
Great news, pity about the weather.
Hope you don’t mind asking, what was total cost after walking out of the dealership & did you also get the Spacial Edition ? Thank you
@@creed426 15k usd out the door, I had a recall on the front tire already. Had it changed last week.
@creed426 yes I got the SE.
$21,000.00??? OMG...for a 900? Did they at least put a quick shifter on it?? I think you got taken my friend
Yes, a lot of money for a 100 horsepower bike, a work colleague of mine paid $35,000 for a 2023 KTM 1290 adventurer and then spent another $4,000 on extra's. The money is irrelevant.
@@cabralad The money is irrelevant? Oh, not for me or most...Enjoy and be safe.
@bradrook3919 Brad, every rider has a different $$$ threshold. For example, Harley's are big bucks in Australia $65,000 for a CVO Roadglide AND some riders pay it👍
That’s definitely too much, I think!!
No that is AUD. That’s how much they are from Kawasaki dealers.
Absolut stunning machine. One day I buy mine
love this bike!......WOW!
Lovely bike, just been looking at them online. Might possibly sell one of my GSXR 1000’s and buy the RS SE. Either one of those or a GSX-S 1000, or maybe a KTM 1290 Super Duke R. KTM are giving 4 years warranty and have slashed £3000 off the price. I love all 3 bikes, so I need to test ride them to decide. I already know the KTM is going to be more fun when you’re in hooligan mode.
The KTM is a big discount, I own a Suzuki S-1000 and I think the Kawasaki z900rs se corners better and brakes better but Suzuki has the top end grunt. Tough decision's 🙄
Love the bike…but too many ums and ahs for me!
Such as?
No worries mate a fine review and convinced me to buy one. Can’t wait to put her through her paces and I’ll give report of my impressions. I might incorporate a few cosmetic tweaks but nothing right out of the gate.
You won't be disappointed, a comfortable riding experience with great handling and timeless looks.
Best looking bike on the planet
I’d like the front brake reservoir tucked in and finished better. Rear shock adjustment tucked in better. Better hidden pre muffler box. Should come stock with radiator guard. I’d like more crome fittings but overall nice. I’m buying one.😊
I bought a 2023 Z900RS SE in the summer. They haven't changed it at all. The only differences I know are in North America, we received the lower seat with less padding, and we also got bulb turn signals. Maybe they were trying to save money. First, I removed the saddle and replaced it with a Corbin Gunfighter saddle. I haven't done anything with the turn signals, but I put on a radiator guard and satin black grab handles for using a centre stand which the dealer also put on. The rad guard and grab handles were from Amazon. People talk about a twitchy throttle when you back off, but I only notice it in first gear, so I upshift fairly quickly. Another difference is the UK and maybe other countries have a security feature on the ignition lock. We just have a plain lock here.
Does your bike have a helmet lock as standard equipment?
@@cabralad Yes it does. Though D-rings on helmets seem to be a thing of the past, at least I can loop the strap through it.
Congrats on the bike!!
Where did you get your seat? I just got my bike two weeks ago. What color is yours?
@@jamesw9892 I bought it online directly from Corbin. It's a solo seat, black leather with yellow piping to match the bike's colors.
I want one but can’t get a good trade in price on my Indian but I’ll wait
I experienced the same issue, couldn't sell my Suzuki so I now have 2 bikes.
Absolutely beautiful! Just bought a new Triumph yesterday, decided to buy this today!
So now you have 2 new bikes, lucky man👍
i want one
Get one, I feel good just looking at it.
My 50th anniversary fireball has all options and cover. 2200 miles. For sale $10.5 k us dollars.
Its to nice to ride!!! Must sell
Beautiful bike and perfect color. I personally think the radiator guard is a gimmick. If that is something really necessary I am pretty sure they wud be on from factory. For the price it lacks heated grips, cruise control etc.
I bought the radiator guard because the radiator fins are easily damaged when trying to remove stubborn dirt.
Just bought one myself.. got about 700km on the clock.. how do you find the snatchy throttle?? in two minds about mine.. getting used to it though.
I love these bikes, I don't have any issues with the throttle, acceleration is smooth, no jerky throttle.
The throttle goes away as you learn the throttle response. Also sloppy chain causes it to be worse. I put the Z900 single wall equal length header . I got same decibels but the 15 hp extra the plain Zee has. Major improvement. The double wall chrome pipes are TINY inside w no cross over pipes and short collector. The mini fender does spray the radiator w gravel and tarnished the chrome pipes too. A shield isn't a gimic. Bugs clog radiator fins too . Dummy.
@berttompkins9096 I could never swap out the headers, I love the chrome look , but a 15hp improvement is massive 👌
Nice bike and hope u can tell us more about it with videos on the move and, for Heaven's sake, at the least. you could have let us hear the engine and the exhaust note. 🤣
Thanks, the exhaust sound is not that good , but I will included in next video.
Informative video! I would suggest you to show different angles of the bike, along with the exhaust note too. Great bike btw! Ride safe❤
Among other things, the cams are different and the fuel injectors are smaller... Which likely means the air box is different. Suspension is different, tires should be different.
It's odd how much better this bike looks in matte finish.
I am disappointed the new 2022 model doesn't come in black, I want to upgrade.
What is the lens specs? Thanks
Sorry Vic, I've forgotten. It's an old camera.
I just picked up mine, brand new about 8 days ago. Got an excellent deal on it so it just under $15K. Like you I got a fair bit gear box clunk which I think is caused by the throttle snatch. Having said that the second time I took it out I found it had smoothed out to a fair degree and it's done about 823klms.. Having had a 2008 GSXR I found many similarities like the handling, seating comfort. Engine is different in power delivery, seems to be more midrange make 6th gear rollons from 80kph a breeze, even does it in 6th from 60kph with no problem. My 2008 Gixer had Tokico brakes so the Brembo's are a real change. At 6'2 I found that up to 120kph the screen does a fair job of keeping the wind off but once up to 140kph plus it's pretty ineffective, I believe a taller screen is available. Exhaust note is great, not quite as loud as the twin Yoshi's I had on the Gixer but more than enough coupled with the induction noise. Well I've been screwed royally on the insurance paying nearly 3 times what you paid so I'll be looking into that, considering I've got two other bikes, a house, and two cars insured with the same company. Oh and this was my 65th birthday present.
yes, with the new model arriving there should be good deals on the old model, my insurance is through yamaha. I am still happy with my Suzuki but looking to downsize to a 750cc. Enjoy your new bike, $15,000 is a steal.😀
Mate did you ever try the horn!!! you can't here it over 50km/hr of course with helmet on! The hidden cheapo horn is hidden under the fairing and next to the exhaust.Don't tell me it works in the garage or do you ride in the garage? Next the damping on the suspension is poor back and front had to change both, the compression spring is for 60-65 kg riders!!! So Suzuki putting a great motor in the bike saved the pennies by not putting first class gear around it!
David, the only time I use the horn is when I accidentally touch the button and it's loud. A Suzuki salesman told me Japanese bikes are set up for small riders, I weigh 68kg so I have no reason to play with the suspension.
Thanks for a great review and heads up about the key black hole. I like the notion of having a bike thats gentlemanly usually but has the "after burners" at the ready should one want to use them.
Yes, having that extra horsepower is nice but rarely used, i like big cc engines that are tuned for the low down grunt.
Love Normanville I ride there regularly on my GSX S 1000 and just love it !
This bike is gorgeous in this black/blue color combo!
I'm waiting for the new version, might look even better 😃
Very beautiful beach 🏖
What is the diffs between gsxs1000f and gsxs1000fz
The colour, Fz is all black, levers, exhaust, etc.
Ganda paps ah.
I have the GSX s1000 and it's a Blast to ride
I thought about replacing my bike this year, but it's hard to replace at that price point.
I’d give my left keg to have this beautiful bike can’t go wrong with reliability. Suzuki rules Isn’t that right captain negative.
Suzuki make good value bikes, but their top end bikes are getting pricey. $27,000 for a Hayabusa 😒
Hi Steve, how is the suspension on bumpy roads? Cheers.
Hi, I just had the front fork seals replaced which has made the suspension a bit stiff and hard over bumps but handles better in the bends. I am not a fan of Japanese designed suspension & wish Suzuki would up speck this bike.
@@cabralad thanks Steve, the roads are pretty bumpy here in nz, I guess every bike has it's pros and cons, my Triumph tiger 1050 soaks up the bumps really well, I would love a gsx-s1000 and will try and get a test ride on one to compare comfort levels. Cheers.
stupidly fast bike but still pactical and comfortable. If only the front wasn't so hideous to look at.
I find it a good daily ride & still capable of light touring & fun in the twisties.
I'm struggling with the looks as well. Here in the US, they just dropped $1000 off the previous $1750 rebate. If I can find a 2019, it still has that rebate. I'm seriously ready to buy a used low mileage FZ-10, this, or a Z900RS Cafe/Z900 regular. I would like some wind protection, but cruise control is seriously helpful. This bike gets considerably better MPG's than the FZ-10 though.
@@Stclairm1 can you wait a few weeks, new s1000 coming up, Suzuki could add cruise on next update.
@@cabralad I am trying to stay under $10k USD, so that bike will definitely be over that. I can get a new 2020 Aprilia Tuono for 0% for 60 months, which would make it a cheaper payment than a new MT10 or the new GSXS when it comes out.
My part of the world, I was there a couple of months ago as well. How is your GSX S 1000 going Mate ?
Very Nice 👍🏼
Thanks, I am still loving it👍
this bike is so so nice, went to a local dealership to browse what they had available after researching this model online and this same exact bike was the first bike I saw when I walked in. Brand new 2020 black on black specifically, it was like destiny. Im a short rider 5'6 and still manageable seat height, super soft and comfy seat and the rider position seemed perfect too. Just not the right time, so next season im sure theres gonna be leftovers and low mile used. But wow, what a bike, super light too. Moving from the cruiser bikes to the first of anything sportbike, still wanted to retain the rideability for longer cruises especially since my commute is 90% highway. Next season i know what to get
The new gloss black looks nice also, this bike eats up miles easily, its comfort is amazing.
@@cabralad I do like th matte black the one you rode has, it's got the cool factor
black いい色ですね。正面から見ても、スクーターに見えづらい。
??
The key lol... well don’t drop it then !!
Yeh, clumsy me but it's a serious problem if the key falls into the 'key trap' , 'pocket of doom' , 😒
I had that happen with my KLR. It was just the glove disconnect you feel when you pick the key and it went right down the fairing pocket. I can relate so don't worry about those who can't, LOL!!
@@rgsauls01 Thanks, lucky for me it was only a 20 minute walk home to get the spare.
@@cabralad indeed you were lucky. I was at a shop and partly distracted by a KLR admirer. It took a while to get it out but thanks to my kawasaki keyring I pulled it out with my nails😁
Hello Mate, I live in South Australia and now have a GSX S 1000. I ride around there often. Thank you for sharing and take care.
Gorgeous bike :) Hows that little windscreen? Much buffeting? Loud wind noise? Cheers
The screen works well, at 200kph there was little wind. It seams more effective at higher speeds. I wear ear plugs on long rides but no noticeable wind noise.
