Fancy Dan with your remote reservoir shocks on your Virago ! Look at you ! I see Buddy takes his QA very seriously. He sniffed that shock along its entire length. Very thorough job Budders ! Definitely looks smarter with the new shocks ! Was that the helmet lock that you had to remove to make way for the LHS shock upper ? I was thinking that all you really need to do to attach it is to fabricate a piece of steel with an appropriate hole at each end. Attach that to the original mounting point ( assuming that there is still room for the nut and the width of your new bracket, couldn't tell ) and then you could move the helmet lock aftwards by bolting it to the far end of your new bracket. That way you would get to keep the helmet lock on the bike, just extending the mounting point rearwards with your bracket, so it clears the top of the shock. Just an idea. I know you like projects and it's never a good look when you have bits left over after recommissioning a vehicle 😂 Tidy job mate. Good luck getting the rear brake shoes fitted 👍 Just make sure that Buddy QAs them first, of course. Cheers youz twoz, excellent effort ! Garry & Ruby
@@economicalrides hi mate, after your great idea and 2 hours looking for the helmet lock I took off, I eventually found it and relised it wasn’t even in the right position so it will fit without any modifications 😂 Thanks for making me re look at it mate, it’s a wonder Buddy didn’t pick that up Cheers mate. Give Rubes a big sossige 😉
@@aussiebikerdude6563 Excellent ! Glad to have been of assistance mate 👍 Will now nip off and give Ruby that sossidge ! Cheers you two ! Garry & Ruby

@@daintree2455 thanks mate, yeah I reckon we are the only country on the planet where our native birds are constantly swearing without being trained to do so. 😂
Very posh ABD. This bike will be a little cracker.
Is hail normal in that part of Australia?

Excellent job on the seat. Patients of a saint. The bike is looking great. That’s the biking year all but up, here in Scotland 🏴. Just be the very odd day, if roads are dry. Shed looks great too.😊
@@weemark67 thank Wee Man Mark, yeah I guess the snow is about to hit over there hey, or just too bloody cold 🥶 It’s a funny world isn’t it. Too cold there and too hot here 😁
An excellent result there Clive. Not just the seat cover but also the fact that you managed to avoid stapling yourself to something. Great success ! I can say with a high degree of certainty that I wouldn't have the patience for that job 😂 Well done mate. You saved yourself another few quid by tackling the job yourself and now you know that you can do it, should you ever need to do it again in the future. You can now spend the money you saved by doing it yourself on more 4X, stubby holder holders and other workshop essentials ! Great success yet again ! Blimey Budders ! That is some bone you've got there ! Ruby would fancy a go on that but I've forbidden her from eating bones because the last time she did, it ended up costing me 250 quid !!! Take care yous twos. Good luck getting the brakes sorted. Smokey is looking good lads ! Take a well deserved break Buddy. Love from Spain, Garry & Ruby
@@economicalrides Thanks Garry, yes a few staples got close to my fingers didn’t they 😂 All good though it’s all a good learning process for me . Your right I’ll have to invest in some more workshop essentials for sure 😂 Cheers yous too, Buddy wants to send one of his bones to Ruby, once he finished with it of course 😂
@@aussiebikerdude6563 Good lad Buddy, you finish that bone 👍 Bones give Ruby chronic constipation, which cost me a whole day and 250 quid to get sorted out, the last time she had one. She is now on a bone ban. But she does get more "sossidges" as compensation, so she doesn't really mind 🙂 Cheers yous two, us two.
G-day ABD 😊 Mrs ABD could have done this for you, and then her hair would have dried as well 😊 Job well done 👏

Spring time in Australia looks to be the awesome
G’day Blake yes it’s pretty this time of year for sure 👍
Nice one Clive ! Looks like she's nearly there ! If you are struggling to get neutral with the engine running but not when it's switched off, that suggests that the clutch might be dragging a bit, even with the lever pulled in. That would also explain why the change generally feels clunky. You are never fully disengaging the clutch when you pull the lever in. Just check the adjustment mate, or something might be sticking a little bit between the lever and the actuator arm. Get the seat covered, the brakes tweaked up and you should be ready to rip ! Did you really get it done as quickly as it appears or is this the RUclips time machine at work ? It seems like you went from barn find to almost perfect in just a few months ! Maybe that was because Buddy was helping you. That would explain it ! Take care yous twos Cheers, Us twos.
Thanks Garry, yes that does seem to be the consensus 😊 Yeah I pretty much had it 2 weeks before the first video went out, I can’t help myself when I start something I can’t wait to finish it 😂 If I ever do another one I’ll drag it out over a longer period I promise,The rules are if I do another one I have to sell it or Smokey after its completion Which makes sense as like you I don’t have time to ride 3 bikes plus the ongoings etc. If Buddy wasn’t helping me it would have taken me a lot longer for sure mate 😉 Cheers yous two 😁👍
@@aussiebikerdude6563 Well in that case Clive, kudos to you mate ! That was a very rapid refurb and the bike is unrecognisable from how it was when you started. I think Smokey probably deserves to be a keeper because a 250 is the sort of bike that will end up in the hands of some yoof who will take it and not treat it with the necessary reverence. If you want to restore another bike, maybe go for something that you wouldn't want to keep anyway. You know, some sort of KTM or BMW or something 😂 Anyway, a great job by you two and we look forward to seeing your next project, whenever that may come along. Good luck getting the last little wrinkles of Smokey ironed out asap mate ! Love from Spain, Garry & Ruby
Nice work hope you get the seat sorted for your comfort it’s the hardest part of riding in my opinion!!!do you have a neutral light for visual?
@@jsrides2065 Thanks mate, yeah the seat is pretty much sorted, yes I do have a neutral light so that’s a good thing I spose 😁
Awesome😎👍
@@Ontario_Adventures Thanks mate 😁👍
ABD you done marvels on that restoration. I thought we'd be following this for a couple of years and many Aussie dollers. Well done. Agree with others that the clutch isn't freeing properly, so it drags - very clunky gear changing and therefore difficult getting neutral. Cheers ABD
@@Lanes-Explorer5733 thanks Peter, I’ve adjusted the clutch a bit but haven’t gone for another test ride yet, I’ll get those stopping things working a bit better first 😂
Nice one Dude
@@johnpawson7400 thanks John 😊
Bloody awesome work in super fast time frame! Looking awesome! I ve said it before, the Virago 250's are brilliant custom bikes! I am thinking though after Smokey learns to stop and find neutral, she might want to sing alittle louder to you on your rides. 🎶 Maybe some baffle surgery? 🤔 Hehehe
@@Cj-nu7nx thanks mate, you might be right there 😁
The only motorcycles that I know finding neutral is no problem is a Kawasaki. All other motorcycle brands have their own way, to find neutral. My Honda wants me to either give the throttle a little blip for finding neutral while running, or easiest while bike is not running.
@@PaulsMotoZen motorcycles hey 😂 funny little critters they are 🏍️
