That's some project. I think the indicators are the last of her problems, but when she's done, they are great little bikes. I can't wait to see what you do with her. Ebay is going to be busy 😅 good on ya ABD 👍
Just caught up with this one ABD. Wow that's quite some project but I have every confidence in you👍👍. Good luck with it. - oo I see there's another part to this just popped up.
Make a "Mini Me" Indian ABD that'd be a plan...by the way "Momad" works when you are stuck behind many grey nomads in a row. Better than the terms I usually use.😊😊...that Indian in the lounge yet?
I want the same thing, meaning a project bike. First have to move in the next year, and see if I can get a pre 2000 HD Sportster. That's my goal. Yamaha should be easy to find parts and be a good challenge it sounds as you have a cigar or a pipe out in the garage!
Yeah get a Evo don't get a 2000-2006 Harley the timing chains etc a weak in them that's why that era is cheaper.2006 onwards are sweet.A 97-99 Sportster 1200 be a great project bike my mate just got a 97 Sporty 1200.
@BlakesPipes I would go 96-98 Evo the 99-06 models had problems.Timing chain not strong enough on later models 06 on they were beefed up to double row timing chains ⛓️.99-06 models the weak chain would end up causing issues with bottom end some were beefed up by their owners when issue was known. The EVO sounds better too than the twin cam models. If got heart set on a 99-06 try & find out history cause if still running now probably been upgraded early on with double row timing chain ⛓️ which pro-longed life of motor. The 99-06 models are a little cheaper cause of this but I would personally go 96-98 Evo Sporty 1200 & they're small & nimble too.Be a Carb model though but that not a major & can be upgraded if wanted. Sportsters were last model to go fuel injected in 2005.I got mates who have owned them in past & mate just currently got a 97 Sporty 1200 cause HE'S real little & skinny & his Dyna was to big & heavy for HIM to handle.HE looks like he's been starved he's that little & skinny but that's his natural build.HE had a Sportster 1200 before Dyna & liked it's size.Another mate has a 08 Sportster Custom first of fuel ⛽️ injection Sportsters & converted it to chain drive so GE can ride gravel & back roads which in NZ have lot's of loose gravel on them from driveways etc.
You have time for a project ??? Blimey. Definitive proof that I must be getting my life wrong !!! Good choice of project bike though.
