That's an interesting unit. Never worked on a DR before. If I ever see one of those Intek engines on something I am grabbing it. That engine is a beast! Very interesting indeed. Seems that compression thing you are talking about is a problem in 2 of the IC engines I have here in the older black Murray Riding Mowers. Both need the cam shafts replaced for that compression release problem. Not looking forward to doing those repairs, but if I want to keep using those mowers I got to fix them. Great video Bernie! Thanks for showing that engine! Cheers! 🍻
Looks like you have plenty to work on and make a buck or two if you’re lucky 😊
Good intro and I can hear you 😊😊😊. Keep them coming all winter please 😊
@@philliphall5198 thank you Phil. Yeah there will be no shortage this winter. The shed beside the garage. Push mowers are stacked 3-4 high lol. I have more riders on the way also
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194I stopped sales last month and just buying all the mowers I can all winter, will be fixing and stacking them for spring 😊
Looks more like a drive prop for an air driven pump to me.
That is an awesome looking mower! Those tires rule on that unit. Looks like it would scare the grass stiff! One day I shall Own a push mower with an Intek 6 HP. If I ever see one around my part of the woods. Lawn Boy mowers are interesting. Great video and mower Bernie! Engine sounds AWESOME!🍻
@@bigalsmallengines Thanks Al. Funny you mentioned this vid. In the next few weeks. This mower is going out to the farm to cut down the hay field of a yard lol. I planed on filming it so everyone can see what a beast it is. Check out my vid on a DR trimmer. That has a pressure lubed intek. I plan on filming that in action as well
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194 Hey great, I look forward to seeing that. Will look for the DR trimmer video certainly next time I'm on. Cheers to you Bernie! 🍻 Have a good week.
That is super cool, you wouldn't think it would be very durable, but it would be interesting to see how it performs.
Coolest lawnmower blade I've ever seen man. Would love to see it in action.
We could put an intek on that 12” deck and let her eat! 😂🍺
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194 Let's do it! 😂
Yeah this has got me interested. I've thought about a carbon fiber blade before. Carbon fiber drumsticks will outlast a pair of the best wooden sticks 10 times over. I think that would be an interesting thing to make a blade out of.
I like the big wheels on the back of this Craftsman. A wash off was a 100% improvement. Gonna remember your trick with the paint thinner and fine steel wool. Good looking stickers and their presence helps get a few more bucks on a sell I think. 2nd pull start! Engine sounds great. Super job!!! Cheers to you on this one Bernie! 🍻
Can’t hear you back there bud Trying to watch 😮
I like the old governor set up also. Agreed that all small engines should have that. If something ain't broke, don't fix it, but it's probably because it is cheaper in some way for them to do it different. I have a Craftsman that even with two different carburetor changes, it will still surge for about 20 seconds at start up-then it goes away. I just keep using it... LOL. The Huskee looks like a good quality mower to use. Great save on that one Bernie! Cheers! 🍻
Great job getting that machine to run again! Bet that mower could really knock down some grass with that engine. I'd like to have one of those myself someday. Thanks for sharing that machine Bernie. Look forward to part 2! Cheers to you! 🍻
All I wanted was to see how u removed the carb.. 😩
I have a 2004 Murray mower that I've never serviced the carb. Always stored it properly after seasons.
Hi Bernie, just discovered your channel. I like it and have subscribed. You cut out the cleaning and painting process thinking people will be bored, not so, I don't know about others but I would love to see all the work you do, including cleaning and painting.
I've yet to have a frame that has made it to the third engine. I'm on my second one with my Troy-Bilt TB 210 I use in my business. I would certainly put engine 3 on that one if it makes it there again. Those older Craftsmans and MTD mowers do have some good deck stamps. These newer ones rust right out it seems. Great repair bringing this Craftsman back for a 3rd life Bernie! Cheers! 🍻
Thanks Al. This woman owns 3 acres. And for many years this mower did every inch of them. She now has riders etc. luckily. But I wish this one had an hour meter lol
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194 3 acres is a heck of a push mow indeed.... She could have been a tester for the mower companies.... LOL
Runs great! Funny, I’m working on two of the identical machines right now. On one of them the blade split in half and flung apart while the guy was using it - he didn’t hit anything, it just had a hairline crack right in the middle and one half flew off. Scared the guy so much that he’ll only use one of those manual push reel mowers now. First time I’ve ever seen a blade split in half!
Thanks MiG. It’s funny how they come in 2s. I recently got another in trade but it is trashed. At least it had the plastic cover this one needed lol
I like your flywheel removal trick there. Those Husqvarna mowers are great when you got them dialed in. I see one every now and then. They usually have some kind of carburetor or fuel issue. Last one I fixed had a completely packed air box. Once I cleaned the carburetor and changed the air filter, it started first pull like yours here. Great video to watch for a pull start repair on this mower Bernie. Cheers to you buddy! 🍻
New sub here! I’m always looking for advice about lawn mowers!
Thank you and welcome! Any issues you have just ask and I’ll do my best to help 🍺
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194 perfect thanks
Nice work on a great mower, she’s going to be very happy!
Thanks! Yes I’m sure she will be a repeat customer 🍺
Great repair work there Bernie! She's gonna think that is a new mower. Here's to you! Cheers! 🍻
Thanks Al. I didn’t know where this nightmare would end. But very happy with the results 🍺
“That’s all we needed to hear”…Bingo!!!
Music to my ears 🍺
Great video Bernie! Got to love getting free stuff like that. Look forward to seeing your repair attempts on these. 🍻 Cheers!
Thanks Al. I haven’t forgot that lawn boy either. The building it’s in is one big bees nest. Im going to go out there on a rainy day and try getting in
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194 Hey no hurry at all Bernie. Please don't risk getting yourself fired up. You can wait till cool weather if you like. I've had that thing sitting around a few years and I just been keeping my eye open for parts. No rush-no hurry buddy. Thanks. Have a good day! 🔧
Good job helping the neighbor. I’m sure a few Bennies will come your way for it.
@@Dorado1997 thank you. It’s funny you say that, because some just did. I will be putting out a vid today showing them 🍺
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194 nice!!!
Would you mind turning up the volume for this old diesel mechanic who is hard hearing 😊
I just replace the cable because it was hard to pull and removed the switch and cleaned it, need a champion 8815 plug now I ran out 😢
This one actually moves very nice. I did let him know that at some point it will need replaced. I gave him an Amazon link for the cable and let him know I’m happy to install it
I like your videos and I want to watch them but I’m hard hearing old diesel mechanic and I’m asking you to turn up the volume 😊😊😊 Thanks
My apologies. The mic I’m using is hit or miss. I ordered another and will try that
I've seen a lot of them that don't pull the brake all the way off and open the kill switch. A lot of guys will think they lost spark. Great repair! 🍻
Plus some of the kohler have a switch that can stick under plastic covers
Nice video, it's crazy how simple the fix it sometimes. I had a question, you mentioned re-spraying part of the deck how do you get the same exact color of paint? For most mowers, I can never find the same exact color, and it doesn't look right, if I only spray a small section.
I hardly ever get them to match perfect. But one trick is. Grey primer makes paint lighter while black primer makes paint darker. I’m planning on doing a vid on that mower. I’ll do a clip on color matching
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194 Okay, cool!
🍻 Lot of great stuff there Bernie! Would you have a transmission for a lawn boy silver series mower?
I just might. I have one in the barn but can’t remember the model. I’m due out there possibly tomorrow. I’ll try digging it out
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194 Thanks Bernie. I appreciate that. I will see what the exact model # of mine is and put it here.
It's a 10330 Lawn Boy.
That's a great engine. Snagged one off a tree lawn last winter. A Craftsman FWD. Took it home and had it running in 15 minutes. Use the fuel shutoff and run it dry each time. Always starts on the first pull. Only problem is the self propel is weak. Wheels turn fine, but not too much power. Streched belt??? Any suggestions???
Some of them have an adjustment where the cable goes into the handle. If that doesn’t work I would check the belt. Some of them have bearings where the axle goes through the deck. I saw one where both bearings were binding. That caused the same issue.
Thank you sir, ill check those things!!
I picked up that same mower last summer, mine was from Canada. Never saw one before or since.
It’s strange. As Al commented. They aren’t everywhere. But Kentucky is loaded with them. I own the same mower in black. I’ll do a revival vid on it at one point
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194yeah - now that you mention it mine was black too, and the wheels were off white instead of yellow. All of the writing on it was in French and English and it had the Canadian maple leaf seal of approval on it. Same oddball deck with the Honda engine though, and same brand / logo. It had the bag with it too, it was one of those old style MTD bags with the two hooks sticking out towards the front. I like those earlier style MTD mowers without all the plastic stuff, they’re less flexi/bendy and seem more sturdy.
I find a lot of Bolens Mowers on the roadside. 80% of the time they are fixable. Have to like that solution for the air filter... LOL I've actually seen brillio pad before in one, and even pink insulation....LOL The engine sounded good from the first pull. The use of the clear coat is a great idea. These are great finds and especially when they are free. Great job on saving this one from the junk yard Bernie! Cheers! 🍻 -Al
Great video Bernie! I have yet to see one of the Yard Machines with a Honda engine around my part of the junk yard. Cheers buddy! 🍻 -Al
Hey Al. Up in RI I never saw any either. But here in KY there’s tons of them. Maybe it was a marketing deal?
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194 Yeah probably ... LOL I know Honda wanted to sell John Deere engines for their riding mowers back in the late 90's. I have an old Honda 4118 that was made by John Deere that I need to drag out one day. I think there were 2 models only produced 2 years. Very much a John Deere except for the color and the GXV610 Honda Engine. If I ever see one of these in any kind of repair state, I'm gonna try to get it. 🍻
I like the new hairdo. Very aerodynamic!
Thanks Joe. Good to go for at least 2 years lol 😂
Nice job, that Mr. clean sponge as the air filter was hilarious!
Nice work sir
We understand that you are busy. No need to apologize sir. You always do great work, thanks for sharing.
Do you find some of the lawnmowers in the trash I find a lot of lawnmowers in the trash
Cheers Bernie! I appreciate the shout out.
Every time I am working on a lawnmower, I look, and you are working on the same one
To funny! I did speak with my neighbor and we will be doing a brand new deck for next year. This one is to clean to scrap
About two years ago I had that similar issue with my 2008 Craftsman 550 Series Silver Edition, but I never got rid of it anyhow. All I did is put an easy fix on it with a solid thick wood screw into the small hole next to the nut to tightly fasten with a truck body panel clip and locked them tightly with a zip tie and it worked nicely without any issue. The solid wood screw can also manage holding both the weight of the handle and the engine-mounted deck all together. All that do-it-yourself work I did on my mower really paid off.😊
My last mower I was working on didn’t have any clamps on the fuel line. I felt nervous about selling it that way. I bought an assortment pack of spring clips so I should be covered for a while.
Nice work sir
I watch orher shows on lawnmower repair, and what i dont get is they will replace plug, filter, blade . Then clean the carb, spend all kinds of time getting it running, and it's worth 100. To 125 .I tell my customer it runs well, looks good, and for the money i sell it for buy your own filterand if you want a new blade buy it yourself. I sharpen blade change oil and shes out the door
Just sold two of those, one a WeedEater and the other an identical Craftsman. Did the same handle repair on both of them, good little mowers, love that Briggs engine. I usually ask $100 for them, they seem go quicker if they have the Craftsman name on them lol!
Thanks MiG. I just had another weed eater dumped out at the farm. I’m hoping it’s decent. Yeah $100 is my normal price as well. They move fast at that price
Appreciate your willingness to make this video even when the end of the world is imminent😂 I'm right there with you when it comes to finding things. I know I've got it somewhere but 50% of the time I can't find it. I was given a mower like this a year or two ago. Good little mower after i fixed a few things. Good tip on the handle/ adjuster. Enjoying your videos.
lol thank you. Worst part is. A couple days later I found the other bolts I had. They were hanging on the wall in the bag they came in 😂😂
What are you asking for it? I live in Wva , how far away are you?
Sorry it sold the same day I rolled it out. I’m in Kentucky BTW 🍺
@@dirtyberniesgarage1194 thank you for sharing your experience with us sir. I was thinking you live north.
@@williamalbright8878 my accent is from the north. I spent my first 39 years in Rhode Island lol
I enjoy your channel
Thank you. I try my best to give weekly vids with some tips
Wish Murray was still in business because I like the simple reasonable price mowers and the older riding mower are still running and pretty popular 😊
Is he zippie tie certified?
