The temple is the outdoors with exploration travel off-road into the backwoodz to remote wonders of the west coast and other outdoor debauchery after the biz 9-5 sit with a Central Coast Californian adventure channel. Best of 2024 Backwoodz Buddha | A Year in Review #4x4 #2024 #tacoma
We took a few short clips from this year to create some of the best moments for 2024. 8 trails, installs of tires, skid plate, plastidip and engine cleaning how to's and selected moments from a great year. Highlights of the year was joining the Bay Area Overlanders and going on some killer wheeling adventures through the rocks, mud, brush and will be hitting some snow this winter. My Christmas gift to those who don't want to sift through the horribly produced videos to find the gems. Enjoy!

I thought it was just going to be a smooth ride around on some dirt roads, but our group insisted on giving the Tacoma some Redneck Pin Stripes on a trek up Baldy Mountain for a nice view. I’ve been waiting too do this trip in my rig, and pre run it , with my bro’s this would be some amazing offroad photography !!! And clips
@@Thegreatwhitetundra_821 nice! You should! I’ve seen some clips with people snow wheeling up there. I am tempted to head up again next month. You have to get permits. So make sure you get those or you will be stuck at the gate
Thanks for a great year! More to o come in 2025 starting with Death Valley trip
All mighty Dirt Bike Area.
Yeah looks like it would be super fun on a dirt bike. Quite a few zipping around us during the day
Day trip to Clear Creek OHV and over to New Idria abandoned mercury mine with asbestos contamination ghost town. The sequence is a bit out of order, but you get the gist of how our day went. Started inhgh winds and pouring rain and ended up being a nice day. Apologies for broken gopro and poor production quality. Grassroots youtube vid
First "mods" ive done to my 23 trd sport, was install the trd skid plate, i undercoated the whole truck and im ordering a cat shield soon
Nice! I have a vid on installing the trd skid plate as well. It saved me on my last off road trip. You are smart to undercoat the whole truck. When I lived in New Hampshire that was pretty common. Yeah now that my truck is lifted I should get a car shield
Follow up on 5 more mods from the vid posted a year ago. ruclips.net/video/-jexvpZO9Ho/видео.htmlsi=dIieq7VmwNsmosf5
Still on a high from pushing the taco though some tough terrain. My fingers are still numb from how cold it was at night.
Some amazing views up Walker Ridge Road! Camping reservoir view was the serenity I needed. The water was warm enough to swim in. Epic trip!
that spray technique needs some work bru
@@Ghostinthemachine777 I agree 😂 was getting late and tired, but still came out really good
@@backwoodzbuddha hahahah does look great man!
Right around where you are camping on the north side of the beach used to be a hill climb that went up that mountain. In the 70's used to be a trail that went up that mountain all the locals and others when camping and surf fishing would try and climb it with their 4x4's some made some didn't it has grown over now but I heard you can still see it if you know where to look. I worked on a commercial fishing boat and when anchored back then you could watch all the partying and 4x4's trying to climb the hill fun times.
Oh man! Sounds precious! Would have loved to see the 4x4s trying and make it up that bank! Looked steep as hell!
I've always wanted to go there. I've backpacked The Lost Coast and it was incredible, but I still really want to hit Usal. I remember seeing threads on Yotatech where folks wheeled to Usal Beach. The pictures that they'd shared were gorgeous. My hope is to get my beater Subaru built up enough to get out there. I'll maybe go up from a 1" lift to a 2" lift and a locker before I think that it'll be not completely unwise to take out there. Also, it's always nice to find a fellow weirdo who likes to go to gorgeous places and go running there.
@@SamwiseOutdoors yeah I know it gets a bad rep, but it is really a magical place
Your Suby should be fine the way it is. Just a couple rough patches. I saw Priuses rollin out there. Yeah run up the trail toward shelter cove. Just don’t drink 6 beers before like I did. It’s a super fun run
@@backwoodzbuddha 6 beers before a run sounds like my last morning in Kauai, lol.
@@SamwiseOutdoorsare you on Strava? You can see my nutty runs @ Brian Morrisey on there. I subbed your channel. I used to backpack a lot but haven’t in years.
@@backwoodzbuddha I'm not on Strava, sadly. I've been on Runtastic/Adidas Running for years and I'm afraid to change apps and lose all of my stats.
Where is your next trip?
Looks like a fun trip! On the todo list for sure.
@@fourwheeltravel yeah had a perfect weekend! It was also on my list for over a year.
Probably driving on the beach was the highlight of the trip
😂 maybe all the “yes”s were a bit much? Was buzzin’ when editing
So much I should have cut out of this 😂
Do you think I can drive here with my Subaru Impreza?
Yeah should be fine. The trails are marked by difficulty (green, blue and black) like ski trails. Maybe stay on the green trails or check out the blues first
Yes I been to New Idria via the north side.
I just went there on 4/21, was this video from last year? I notice the map is a bit different. I started from the Laguna Mt campground and tried to hike up to the top of Laguna Mountain. I didn't make it to the top, the primitive trail section was pretty tough to navigate using my cellphone and alltrail app. BTW, to go to New Idria, you turn off Clear Creek rd. (not Creekwater).
Nice! I want to get back up there soon now that winter is fading out. You were lucky to get a spot at Laguna Campground. Those sites have some great views! I had to post up at Sweetwater. Yeah, the video is from October last year. I didn't make it to the top of Laguna Mountain either. It was getting too dark, I was solo, and I felt like Mountain Lions were stalking me haha! Thanks for catching that typo... yes Clear Creek Road was the road I was looking for. I'll change it in the description. Did you make it over to New Idria? Seems like a super cool old abandoned mercury mine.
@@backwoodzbuddha I rode to New Idria via Pinoche rd and New Idria rd. about 3 years ago. One section of New Idria road got washed out in the following winter storm, still not repaired, but you can go around it with a 4x4 from what i have read. I do want to get the permit and ride across Clear Creek to Coalinga rd., just need to find someone to go with, probably not a good idea to solo across on my dual sport motorcycle. BTW, I didn't camp at Laguna Mt., slept in my car off the side of the road off hwy 25 the night before. There is a new? trail that is not on that map in your video, the latest map shows a trail that if you are starting from Sweetwater, you can cross over from the primitive campsite to the ridge across, maybe that's what you took? I went about half a mile up the primitive trail to the peak, hard to navigate and there is a steep section maybe 30% grade that I can see, but I turned around before that. I did run into another younger guy also solo hiking out there in that primitive trail section. I think we were both kind of surprised to see each other, lol. He told me he went to the top, he was the only other person I saw out on my hike. My cellphone didn't have enough juice and i was using it a lot to navigate that primitive trail section, so I decided to turn around. I think there were others hiking that day, they most likely hiked out to the Laguna Falls instead of the peak.
An don’t forget the headlights
What do you recommend?
@@backwoodzbuddha trd pro headlights it goes well with the grill.
You know I am on the 😊website for a iwt
Oh awesome! I have a pass and up there a lot. I looove Heavenly!
It’s a city boy set up. If it works for you, go with it.
Haha! Let me take a look at your rig and get some pointers?
You need the TRd Skid Plate!
Yeah definitely!
Took your advice…..finally put the skid plate on and made a short install vid
Is the new grill made by Toyota?
No. It’s an after market mod. Several companies make these TRD Pro Heritage grills. This one seems to be good np-motorsports.com/products/areyourshop-car-oem-front-bumper-hood-grill-matte-black-for-toyota-tacoma-trd-pro-2016-2019-2017-plastic-car-styling-accessories?variant=31917827686488¤cy=USD&
Tacoma Troop...........check the out....they make good quality grills.........I would highly recommend them!
Fat guy running through!
Haha! Tots!
The first thing you should've got is a long bed, if your gonna spend the money on a short bed you should got a 4runner ,about the same same length plus you wouldn't need a canopy.
Nah, I don’t use the tonneau cover (canopy) much. Just when traveling. I am done with SUVs. This works well for me for now. You’re right though, long beds are nice.
Nope. I have a short bed and use it everyday for work, around my farm and as a hunting truck. Can't put a deer or an Elk in the back of a Runner and if one concrete bag busts open you'll wish you had a truck. Plus the longer bed is not much bigger, Id rather have the shorter wheelbase but still have a truck.
@@manwithnoname734very good points. I had an SUV before this and bags of concrete, wood chips, etc. did explode in the back and a bitch to clean up. The open bed you just need a broom if anything
As a long bed owner. I love it but my brother has a short bed and it works perfectly for what we do around the farm. He hauls camping gear, guns his dirt bike. And plenty of room for the feed for the cows and pigs and all the coolers fit perfectly when we do hay in the e summer. Not to mention it carries him and his wife’s groceries under the soft tonneau in the winter. And lastly his mud boots and tools can go right in after a long day working on the equipment or building a or whatever. Pretty sad for you to just assume a short bed truck has no place for anyone. With due respect I almost figure you probably don’t even use your long bed but once a year to haul something. Am I wrong sir?!
@@DanBrandoyou aren’t wrong by any means. My short bed does what I need it do to haul what I need for the house. I am not doing any construction and primarily used it for off-roading and don’t want the longer wheel base. If I wanted a long bed, probably would have gotten a Chevy or Ford, but Tacomas kill it on the trails. Some of us do not only use our trucks to haul and what I do need to haul, seems to do just fine.
I just bought a trd license plate cover and a keychain so far. First major mod will probably be tint for the front door windows.
Sounds awesome! Yeah front door tints look really good!
I could sit and watch old faithful erupt all day
Yeah! Really a cool sight!
Looking good, did a bunch of the same mods, ya. roughcountry sucks, there bed mate doesn't fit and had to trim a bunch off
Oh that sucks you had to cut it. The GeeVull one I put the link to fits perfectly
Truck looks great, I did a lot of the same mods to mine :) Subbed
Thanks so much! Saving up for tires now for next upgrade. The All Seasons are just plain annoying even doing light off roading
I’ll have to pass on Hudner Pass, in my convertible lol
Worth a shot! Let’s go!
What’s up dude!?!?
Just truckin away here… you?
may i ask how much you paid for the sport with the advanced tech package?
About $38k. It’s worth it!
@@backwoodzbuddha Did you get it used? a 4x4 DC sport is already like 39K msrp
1:51 Shooting Prohibited 😮 you know you're in the country when you see that sign
Looking forward to seeing the campground ending next edit!! 🏕️
Coming soon!
Cool music choices but glad I heard the versions with no tunes as the engine gunning it and the tires biting into the road was music enough to my ears 🤠📻
Good point
Sick dude!!!
